  • This paper presents the development of electromagnetic wave detecting equipment for diagnosis of enclosed switchboard. High voltage power equipments are very important equipment of the key industries and the private enterprise. Power line accidents are national plans because of those set off casualties lose of power equipments and communication networks. Therefore the necessity of the development of detecting for power equipment diagnosis is demand for prevention of high voltage equipment accidents. This paper is the development of electromagnetic wave detecting equipment for diagnosis of high voltage equipment. This paper establishes the diagnosis method for high voltage power equipments, that secures original technique and possesses detecting technique for electromagnetic wave. By the study we developed electromagnetic wave detector, and we applied this equipment application tests at the place constructed high voltage equipments.

  • This paper examines the application of high voltage static var compensator(SVC) with cascade multilevel inverter which employs H-bridge inverter(HBI). This method has the primary advantage that the number of voltage levels can be increased for a given number of semiconductor devices when compared to the conventional control methods. The SVC system is modeled using the d-q transform which calculates the instantaneous reactive power. This model is used to design a controller and analyze the SVC system. From the mathematical model of the system, the design procedures of the circuit parameters L and C are presented in this thesis. To meet the specific total harmonic distortion(THD) and ripple factor of the capacitor voltage, the circuit parameters L and C are designed. Simulated and experimental results are also presented and discussed to validate the proposed schemes.

  • In order to apply for pickling line in cold rolling process, a high power magnetostrictive ultrasonic transducer was developed. The transducer is expected to overcome the shortcomings of conventional high power ultrasonic transducers. The transducer consists of Fe-Co-V alloy sheets for the magnetostrictive material, an ultrasonic horn made of Hastelloy to withstand acid solution, and electric driving circuit. In the development, the transducer was designed with the theoretical and numerical methods such as finite element method, and was characterized with experimental water tanks.   • In this paper, authors developed a real-time simulation algorithm for the power device application of HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) wire by using Real Time Digital Simulator(RTDS). At present, in order to extend the power capacity of some area where has a serious problem of power quality. especially metropolitan complex city, there are so many problems such as right of way for power line routes. space for downtown substations. and the environmental protection, etc. HTS technology can be useful to overcome this problem. Recently, according to the advanced HTS technology, the power application is being researched well. Simulation is required for safety before installation of HTS power cable, a fabrication model used at the power system simulation. This paper describes a real time digital simulation method for the application of HTS wire to power device. For the simulation analysis, test sample of HTS wire was actually manufactured. And the transient phenomenon of the HTS wire was analysed in the simulated utility power grid. This simulation method is the world first trial in order to obtain much better information for installation of HTS power device into a utility network.

  • An X-band MMIC power amplifier for radar application is developed using $0.25-{\mu}m$ gate length GaAs pHEMT technology. A bus-bar power combiner at output stage is used to minimize the combiner size and to simplify bias network. The fabricated power amplifier shows 38.75 dBm (7.5 Watt) Psat at 10 GHz. The chip size is $3.5\;mm{\times}3.9\;mm$.

  • This paper presents electromagnetic finite element analysis of power cables for wind turbine application. Eddy current losses are calculated due to high currents along metallic part, and dielectric strength on power cables is investigated for case study, which suggests the optimal cabling configuration for wind turbine construction.

  • Power devices for high power drivers that need high switching speed (IGCT, HVIGBT) have been continuously developed. However, serial and parallel connections using several much cheaper, lower power capacity of devices than an expensive high power device are very useful methods in the aspect of cost down and high power application. Even the current and voltage unbalance problem is occurred at each devices. This unbalance characteristics are mainly caused by the differences of physical characteristics of each devices and the line inductance (stray inductance) of bus bars that consist of current path. This paper deals simulation analysis of serial connection of IGCTs and parallel connection of IGCTs using physical model of devices. And also, introduces the method to reduce the voltage and current unbalance problem.

  • A wind tunnel simulation requires high-performance computing power like supercomputers and deep knowledge of this subject. Those requirements make win tunnel simulation difficult. Grid technology will make these difficulties simpler by providing easy to use grid web portal. By using grid web portal, scientist can execute simulation and access to high-performance computing power without any serious difficulties. In this paper will present a grid web portal for a wind tunnel simulation that is used in Aerospace area.
