The effect of mechanical working on processing the Bi-2223/Ag tapes using PIT method

  • When high temperature superconducting tapes is fabricated using the PIT (Powder In Tube) method, the length of HTS tapes is increased more than 500 ${\sim}$ 1,000 times of initial powder packed billet. On mechanical processing, heterogeneous properties between the ceramic superconducting core and Ag/Ag alloy sheath occur the non-uniformity deformation as like sausaging that deteriorate the critical current properties of HTS tapes. In this study, we investigated the workability of Bi-2223/Ag/Ag alloy sheath tapes fabricated by the PIT method involving a number of different mechanical processes, multi drawing and rolling. In order to obtain the high critical current density and high uniformity of Bi-2223/Ag sheath tapes, the influences of powder packing density, drawing die angle and rolling parameters were studied. We found that the roll diameter is an important variable in the rolling process, as critical current of tapes rolled using 250 mm rolls was higher than that using 150 mm rolls.

A High Capacity Reversible Watermarking Using Histogram Shifting (히스토그램 이동을 이용한 고용량 리버서블 워터마킹)

  • Reversible watermarking hides some information in a digital image in such a way that an authorized party could decode the hidden information and also restore the image to its original state. In this paper, a high capacity reversible watermarking method using histogram shifting is proposed. In order to increase embedding capacity, the proposed method divides the image into $2{\times}2$ blocks and uses a paring(horizontal, vertical, diagonal) inside each block, then finds a maximum embedding bin which has the most frequent difference values among the parings. Also, the proposed method removes the overflow and underflow by using location map which including the maximum embedding bin and increases the embedding capacity by embedding iteratively. The experimental results show that the proposed method provides a high embedding capacity and good visual quality compared with the conventional reversible watermarking methods.

  • In this paper, the authors propose a new high performance Built-in Type spindle motor drive using vector-controlled technique at 15,000 r/min. Control method is changed by variation of motor speed in a conventional Built-in type spindle drive. In the drive system to be presented, the conventional vector control is used in the low-speed range, and the vector control without encoder is used in the high-speed range. Furthermore, in order to drive the motor from 0 to 15,000 rpm smoothly, the vector control with encoder in the low-speed range (from 0 to 8,000 rpm) is utilized and the vector control without encoder in the high-speed range (from 8,000 to 15,000 rpm) is utilized.   • The compound active clamp zero voltage soft switching (CACZVS) three-phase power factor correction (PFC) converter has many advantages, such as high efficiency, high power factor, bi-directional energy flow, and soft switching of all the switches. Triple closed-loop PI controllers are used for the three-phase power factor correction converter. The control objectives of the converter include a fast transient response, high accuracy, and unity power factor. There are six parameters of the controllers that need to be tuned in order to obtain multi-objective optimization. However, six of the parameters are mutually dependent for the objectives. This is beyond the scope of the traditional experience based PI parameters tuning method. In this paper, an improved chaotic particle swarm optimization (CPSO) method has been proposed to optimize the controller parameters. In the proposed method, multi-dimensional chaotic sequences generated by spatiotemporal chaos map are used as initial particles to get a better initial distribution and to avoid local minimums. Pareto optimal solutions are also used to avoid the weight selection difficulty of the multi-objectives. Simulation and experiment results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

  • This paper concerns with a method to improve the current and power waveforms of the variable speed $3{\Phi}$ AC motor system driven by the single-pulse PWM, and the current waveforms and $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms are analyzed by FFT under various running conditions. By the performance analysis through the experiments, the following results have been obtained. AC source of pseudo sine waveform can be obtained from the modulated alternating square voltage by means of the well designed LC filter. It is confirmed that current waveforms and $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms can be improved by utilizing the high order low pass LC filter than that of lower order. Especially, current waveforms and $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms tan be much improved at low frequency domain. $3{\Phi}$ power waveforms have a smatter ripple and bigger power by utilizing the high order low pass LC filter than that of lower order. Also, the running condition of $3{\Phi}$ AC motor is good at low frequency domain.

A Study for Injuries due to Agricultural Machines in Kyeongsangnam Province (경상남도 농촌지역의 농기계손상에 관한 조사연구)

  • As compared before, agricultural machines are used more commonly instead of animal or manpower in rural areas and the injuries due to those are common. This study was conducted by questionnaire method in order to find out the current status of injuries due to agricultural machines for farmers who was selected from three Gun's in Kyeongsangnam Province. The study subjects were 385 persons in all(210 male persons, 175 female reasons) and the study period was from July through September 1993. The results were as follows; 1. The injury rate due to agricultural machines was high in male(p<0.05), and it was higher in younger age group and higher educated group. 2. The injury occurred high in summer and autumn seasons(77.6%), in the afternoon(60.6%), and during harvest(35.2%). 3. The major injuries were contusion, fracture, amputation in order and the injured sites were arms, legs, and chest in order. 31.7% of the injured farmers had been admitted, and they were treated at hospitals, home, drugstores and health centers in order. 4. The casualty damage was highest by cultivators, and agricultural instruments, threshing machine were followed. Among traumatic injuries concerned with cultivators contusions were most common, and fractures, amputations were followed. In case of agricultural instruments bruises were most common, and incisions, contusion were followed. In case of threshing machines fractures were most common and contusion, bruise were followed.

Algorithm for Fault Location Estimation on Transmission Lines using Second-order Difference of a Positive Sequence Current Phasor

  • The accurate estimation of a fault location is desired in distance protection schemes for transmission lines in order to selectively deactivate a faulted line. However, a typical method to estimate a fault location by calculating impedances with voltages and currents at relaying points may have errors due to various factors such as the mutual impedances of lines, fault impedances, or effects of parallel circuits. The proposed algorithm in this paper begins by extracting the fundamental phasor of the positive sequence currents from the three phase currents. The second-order difference of the phasor is then calculated based on the fundamental phasor of positive sequence currents. The traveling times of the waves generated by a fault are derived from the second-order difference of the phasor. Finally, the distance from the relaying point to the fault is estimated using the traveling times. To analyze the performance of the algorithm, a power system with EHV(Extra High Voltage) untransposed double-circuit transmission lines is modeled and simulated under various fault conditions, such as several fault types, fault locations, and fault inception angles. The results of the simulations show that the proposed algorithm has the capability to estimate the fault locations with high speed and accuracy.

The Estimation of the Coagulant on Method of Lime Input in the Water Treatment Plant at High Turbidity (고탁도시 소석회 투입방법에 따른 정수장 응집제의 효율 평가)

  • In order to removal turbidity at high turbidity, this study was carried to evaluate the coagulants(Alum, PACl, PACS) that was suited the characteristics of raw water in water treatment plants and to determinate the optimum method of lime feed. When the optimum coagulant was selected the organic matter removal was also investigated as $UV_{254}$. PACl, lime first feed had the highest turbidity removal efficiency rate as above 99.1% and then $UV_{254}$ removal rate was obtained over than 88.0%. If you had the necessary of the lime feed, among the method of lime feed time interval feed largely was improved than simultaneous feed. Also, lime feed dose had about 1/5 of coagulants dose in case of Alum and PACl, but always PACS should be considerated lime dose.

  • Ozone is a strong and useful oxidizing gas for the fabrication of oxide thin films. In order to obtain high quality oxide thin films, higher ozone concentration is necessary. In this paper an ozone condensation system was evaluated from the viewpoint of an ozone supplier for oxide thin film growth. Ozone was condensed by an adsorption method and the ozone concentration reached 8.5 mol% in 2.5 h after the beginning of the ozone condensation process, indicating high effectiveness of the condensation process. Ozone was continuously desorbed from the silica gel by the negative pressure. We found the decomposition in the ozone concentration negligible if the condensed ozone is transferred from the ozone condensation system to the film growth chamber within a few minutes.

On a Performance Improvement of Speaker Recognition by using the Auditory Characteristics of Speech (음성의 청각특성을 이용한 화자식별시스템의 성능향상에 관한 연구)

  • The pre-emephasis filter as the conventional method emphasizes all components of high frequency that reflects the speaker characteristics. However this filter don't show the auditory characteristics of speaker's speech. In order to emphasize the perceptual characteristics, we propose the speaker recognition system that uses the perceptual weighting as the preprocessor because the Auditory characteristic of human is sensitive to the formant peaks. This filter has the characteristcs that both deemphasizes the low-formants and emphasizes the high formants. As a result of the proposed method, we improve the total recognition rate 1.7% better than the conventional method.
