  • This paper presents the analysis and the design methods of the crossover junctions including the output phase. The general solutions were derived analytically through an even-odd analysis of the reflection coefficients and the impedance parameters for the crossover junction with arbitrary output phase. The general solutions were applied to a real crossover junction structure to derive the exact design formula for the arbitrary output phase. The results agreed well with the existing studies. The designed circuit satisfied the crossover junction operation with the exact output phase.

  • This paper propose a new taegeuk shaped directional couper and verify the possibility of high power division rate in those directional coupler through the experiments. We took the taegeuk shaped structure in those proposed directional coupler to utilize a $3\lambda/4$ section of hybrid ring directional coupler actively, and calculated the branch admittances, which satisfied the condition of perfect matching and isolation in the center frequency, by even odd mode analyzing methodes. On the result, we knew that it can be realized a much higher power division rate than reported result in same circuit area within the producible resistance limit in the microstrip line, made the taegeuk shaped directional couplers with 0, 8, 16 dB power split ratio in the 10 GHz frequency using CGP - 502 plate, and confirmed the validity of theory through the experiments.

  • A 2-stage 1 watt MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) HPA(High Power Amplifiers) at 20 GHz band has been designed and fabricated. The $0.15\mu\textrm{m}$ with the width of $400\mu\textrm{m}$for single device pHEMT technology was used for the fabrication of this MMIC HPA. Due to the series feedback technique from source to ground, bias circuits and stabilization circuits on the main microstrip line, the stability factors(Ks) are more than one at full frequency. The independent operation for each stage and excellent S11, S22 less than -20 dB have been obtained by using lange couplers. For beginning the easy design, linear S-parameters have been extracted from the nonlinear equivalent circuit in foundry library, and equivalent circuits of devices at in/output ports were calculated from this S-parameters. The measured performances, which are in well agreement with the predicted ones, showed the MMIC HPA in this paper has the minimum 15 dB of linear gain, -20 dB of reflection coefficients and 31 dBm of output power over 17~25 GHz.

  • In this paper, the high isolation and wideband 94 GHz MIMIC(Millimeter-wave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) single balanced cascode mixer was designed and fabricated. Also, we designed and fabricated a 3 dB tandem coupler which has a high isolation and wideband characteristic. The single balanced resistive mixer which does not require an external IF balun was designed using the 0.1 ${\mu}m$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs metamorphic HEMT(High Electron Mobility Transistor). The DC characteristics of MHEMT's are 665 mA/mm of drain current density, 691 mS/mm of maximum transconductance. The current gain cut-off frequency($f_T$) is 189 GHz and the maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$) is 334 GHz. A 94 GHz single balanced cascode mixer was fabricated using our 0.1 ${\mu}m$ MHEMT MIMIC process. From the measurements, the fabricated couplers showed wideband characteristics. The conversion loss of single balanced cascode mixer was 9.8 dB at an LO power of 10.9 dBm. The LO to RF isolation of single balanced cascode mixer was 29.5 dB at 94 GHz. We obtained in this study a higher LO-RF isolation compared to some other single balanced mixers.
