  • This paper presents new differential methods for computing the combined and single dynamic stability derivatives of flight vehicle. Based on rigid dynamic mesh technique, the combined dynamic stability derivative can be achieved by imposing the aircraft pitching to the same angle of attack with two different pitching angular velocities and also translating it to the same additional angle of attack with two different rates of angle of attack. As a result, the acceleration derivative is identified. Moreover, the rotating reference frame is adopted to calculate the rotary derivatives when simulating the steady pull-up with different pitching angular velocities. Two configurations, the Hyper Ballistic Shape (HBS) and Finner missile model, are considered as evaluations and results of all the cases agree well with reference or experiment data. Compared to traditional ones, the new differential methods are of high efficiency and accuracy, and potential to be extended to the simulation of combined and single stability derivatives of directional and lateral.

  • In this study, NASA test model with four cruciform fins is utilized to validate the in-house code. Sur face pressure distribution and aerodynamic coefficients are compared with experimental data. Through extensive validation work, it is verified that the code has capability to predict aerodynamic characteristics of missile configuration. In inviscid analysis through a relatively low computational time, analysis result close to experimental data can be confirmed. However, at high angle of attack more than 20 degree, the accuracy of analysis is gradually decreased due to massive separation. In addition, it has been seen that Reynolds number, turbulence model and numerical method have effects on body vortices and aerodynamic characteristics.

  • The wind tunnel test is one of the essential processes in the development of guided missile systems, and various wind tunnel facilities exist depending on the test requirements, various conditions, and their purposes. The Ludwieg tube is very useful in the development of guided missile systems, and we have necessitated the upgrade of the Ludwieg tube in ADD to acquire various test requirements, such as high angle of attack, repeatability, and stability. In this paper, upgrading the nozzle, vacuum tank, and model support is suggested to improve the Ludwieg tube performance, and we demonstrate a result of the solution through pressure measurement.

  • The numerical analyses of the complicated flows are widely attempted in these days. Because of the enormous demanding memory and calculation time, parallel processing is used for these problems. In order to obtain calculation efficiency, it is important to choose proper domain decomposition technique and numerical algorithm. In this research we enhanced the efficiency of the CFDS code developed by ADD, using parallel computation and newly developed numerical algorithms. For the huge amount of data transfer between blocks non-blocking method is used, and newly developed data transfer algorithm is used for non-aligned block interface. Recently developed RoeM scheme is adpoted as a spatial difference method, and AF-ADI and LU-SGS methods are used as a time integration method to enhance the convergence of the code. Analyses of the flows around the ONERA M6 wing and the high angle of attack missile configuration are performed to show the efficiency improvement.

  • Theoretical analysis and performance test of Jet vane type Thrust Vector Control(TVC) were conducted using supersonic cold-flow system. The use of TVC Systems an in particular jet vanes, are currently being researched for use in air launch, ship launch, underwater launch and high altitude maneuvering of tactical missiles and rockets. The necessity to generate control forces to rapidly change the course of the missile is frequently required when traditional, exterior aerodynamic surfaces are unable to produce these forces, when the flow over the control surface is insufficient. This situation can occur at launch, or high angles of attack of the control surfaces. Jet vanes peformed well at all altitudes and environmental conditions, and jet vanes are extremely effective at deflection angles up to as high as $30^{\circ}$, make them ideal for the launch and maneuver applications. In this study, performance test of supersonic cold-flow system and visualization of supersonic jet was conducted, and shape and deflection angle effect of two types of jet vanes are investigated.
