In this paper, an alternative non-isolated DC-DC converter with a high voltage boosting capability is proposed. Two inductors are used and one of them has its flux linkage increases during its charging period to achieve a high step-up voltage gain. Among the three integrated capacitors, one portrays the partial characteristic of the switched-capacitor technique, while the other two are connected in series across the load. With the two switches controlled using the same duty cycle, the proposed topology demonstrates the merits of a higher and wider range of step-up voltage gain when compared with recent topologies. In addition, a reduction in loss is induced and a higher efficiency is ensured with all the voltage stresses constrained within the output voltage. Operation of the proposed converter is analyzed and validated through experimental results obtained with a prototype.
In this paper, a high step-up DC-DC PWM converter with continuous input current and low voltage stress is presented for renewable energy application. The proposed converter is composed of a boost converter integrated with an auxiliary step-up circuit. The auxiliary circuit uses an additional coupled inductor and a balancing capacitor with voltage doubler and switching capacitor technique to achieve high step-up voltage gain with an appropriate switch duty cycle. The switched capacitors are charged in parallel and discharged in series by the coupled inductor, stacking on the output capacitor. In the proposed converter, the voltage stress on the main switch is clamped, so a low voltage switch with low ON resistance can be used to reduce the conduction loss which results in the efficiency improvement. A detailed discussion on the operating principle and steady-state analyses are presented in the paper. To justify the theoretical analysis, experimental results of a 200W 40/400V prototype is presented. In addition, the conducted electromagnetic emissions are measured which shows a good EMC performance.

Renewable energy resources such as wind and photovoltaic power generation systems demand a high step-up DC-DC converters to convert the low voltage to commercial grid voltage. However, the high step-up converter using a transformer has limitations of high voltage stresses of switches and diodes when the transformer winding ratio increases. Accordingly, conventional studies have been applied to series-connect multioutput converters such as forward-flyback and switched-capacitor flyback to reduce the transformer winding ratio. This paper proposes new single-ended converter topologies of an isolation type and a non-isolation type to improve power efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and output ripple. The first proposal is an isolation-type charge-pump switched-capacitor flyback converter that includes an extreme-ratio isolation switched-capacitor cell with a chargepump circuit. It reduces the transformer winding number and the output ripple, and further improves power efficiency without any cost increase. The next proposal is a non-isolation charge-pump switched-capacitor-flyback tapped-inductor boost converter, which adds a charge-pump-connected flyback circuit to the conventional switched-capacitor boost converter to improve the power efficiency and to reduce the efficiency degradation from the input variation. In this paper, the operation principle of the proposed scheme is presented with the experimental results of the 100 W DC-DC converter for verification.
This paper introduces a new high efficient bi-directional, non-isolated DC/DC converter. Through variations of the topology of the conventional Cuk converter, an optimum bi-directional DC/DC converter is proposed. Voltage and current in the proposed DC/DC converter are continuous. Furthermore, the efficiency in both step-up and step-down mode is improved over that of the conventional bi-directional converter. To prove the validation for the proposed converter, simulations and experiments are executed with a 300W bi-directional converter.
A high-step-up DC/DC converter for renewable energy systems is proposed. The proposed structure provides high voltage gain by using a coupled inductor without the need for high duty cycles and high turn ratios. The voltage gain is increased through capacitor-charging techniques. In the proposed converter, the energy of the leakage inductors of the coupled inductor is reused. This feature reduces the stress on the switch. Therefore, a switch with low ON-state resistance can be used in the proposed converter to reduce losses and increase efficiency. The main switch is placed in series with the source. Therefore, the converter can control the energy flow from the source to the load. The operating principle is discussed in detail, and a steady state analysis of the proposed converter is conducted. The performance of the proposed converter is verified by experimental results.

Due to the increasing amount of applications of power electronic ac-dc converters, it is necessary to design a single-stage converter that can reliably perform both buck and boost operations. Traditionally, this can be achieved by double-stage conversion (ac/dc-dc/dc) which ultimately leads to less efficiency and a more complex control system. This paper discusses two types of modern ac-dc converters. First, the novel impedance-source ac-dc converter, abbreviated as custom Z-source rectifier, is analyzed; and then, switched inductor (SL) Z-source ac-dc converter is proposed. This paper describes the Z-source rectifiers' operating principles, the concepts behind them, and their superiorities. Analysis and simulation results show that the proposed custom Z-source rectifier can step up and step down voltage; and the main advantage of the SL Z-source ac-dc converter is its high step-up capability. Low ripple of the output dc voltage is the other advantage of the proposed converters. Finally, the SL Z-source ac-dc converter is compared with the custom Z-source ac-dc converter.
In recently days using distributed power generation systems constructed with boost type dc-dc converters is being extremely popularized because of the rising need of environment friendly energy generation power systems. In this paper a new constructed An efficient Step-Up DC-DC Converter for DC Grid Applications s proposed to boost a low level DC voltage(36-80V) to high DC bus (380V) level. When comparing to other step-up converters, the proposed topology has a reduced number of switching devices, can make high quality power with lower input current ripple and has wider input DC voltage range. Finally, the performance of the proposed topology is presented by simulation results with 350W hardware prototype.
This paper proposes a novel high step-up non-isolated DC-DC converter, suitable for regulating dc bus in various inherent low voltage micro sources especially for photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell sources. This novel high voltage Non-isolated Boost DC-DC converter topology is best replacement, where high voltage conversion ratio is required without the transformer and also need continuous input current. Since the proposed topology utilizes the stack-based structure, the voltage gain, and the efficiency are higher than other conventional non-isolated converters. Switches in this topology is easier to control since its control signal is grounding reference. Also, there is no need of extra gate driver and extra power supply for driver circuit, which reduces the cost and size of system. In order to show the feasibility and practicality of the proposed topology principle operation, steady state analysis and simulation result is presented and analyzed in detail. To verify the performance of proposed converter and theoretical analysis 360W laboratory prototype is implemented.

This paper elaborates two novel proposed topologies (type-I and type-II) of the high step-up DC-DC converter using switched inductor and voltage multiplier cell. The advantages of these proposed topologies are the less voltage stress on semiconductor devices, low device count, high power conversion efficiency, high switch utilization factor and high diode utilization factor. We analyze the Type-II topologies operating principle and mathematical analysis in detail in continuous conduction mode. High-intensity discharge lamp for the automotive application can use the derived topologies. The proposed converters give better performance when compared to the existing types. Also, it is found that the proposed type-II converter has relatively higher voltage gain compared to the type-I converter. A 40 W, 12 V input voltage and 72 V output voltage has developed for the type-II converter and the performances are validated.
