마이크로머시닝 기술과 MEMS 광스위치 응용 (Micromachining Technologies and its application to MEMS Optical Switch)

  • With the great demand for WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical communications, optical switches are expected to become one of the dominant components in future networks. Conventional mechanical switches suffer from poor reliability and large size; however, many micromachined optical switches with moving mirrors have been proposed for high scale OXC (Optical Crossconnect) or ADM (Add/Drop Multiplex) because of the low power consumption and high reliability of these switches. In this paper, we introduce the technological trends of optical switches using MEMS, related micromachining technologies and their characteristics.

고출력 SP3T MMIC 스위치 (A High Power SP3T MMIC Switch)

  • 광대역 고출력 SP3T MMIC GaAs PIN 다이오드 스위치를 설계, 제작하고 특성을 측정하였다. 전력단속능력을 개선시키기 위하여 다이오드의 버퍼층을 저온 버퍼와 초격자 버퍼로 이루어진 2층 구조로 설계하였다. 개발된 다이오드의 항복전압은 65V이고 순방향 정압강하는 1.3V 이었다. MMIC 스위치는 마이크로스트립 라인형으로 구현되었고 인덕턴스가 낮은 via hole 공정을 이용하여 신호를 접지하였다. 평면형 구조보다 더 낮은 기생성분과 진성영역에서 고품질을 갖는 수직형 에피텍셜 PIN 구조를 사용하여 우수한 마이크로파 성능을 얻었다. 제작된 SP3T 스위치의 고출력 특성은 14.5GHz CW에서 입력전력을 8dBm부터 32dBM 까지 증가시킬 때 삽입손실은 0.6dB보다 작은, 분리도는 50dB보다 크게 측정되었다.

A Novel Ripple-Reduced DC-DC Converter

  • A DC/DC converter generally needs to work under high switching frequency when used as an adjustable power supply to reduce the size of magnetic elements such as inductors, transformers and capacitors, but with the rising of the switch frequency, the switch losses will increase and the efficiency will reduce. Recently, to solve these problems, research is actively being done on a soft switching method that can be applied under high frequency and on a PWM converter that can be applied under low frequency such as a multi-level topology. In this paper a novel DC-DC conversion method for reducing the ripple of output voltage is proposed. In the proposed converter, buck converters are connected in series to generate the output voltage. By using this method, the ripple of output voltage can be reduced compared to a conventional buck converter. Particularly when output voltage is low, the number of acting switching elements is less and the result of ripple reduction is more obvious. It is expected that the converter proposed in this paper could be very useful in the case of wide-range output voltage.

  • A high speed address recovery technique for AC plasma display panel(PDP) is proposed. Replacing GND switch by clamping diode. the recovery speed can be increased by saving GND hold-time and switching loss due to GND switch also becomes also be reduced. The proposed method is able to perform load-adaptive operation by controlling the voltage level of energy recovery capacitor, which prevents increasing inefficient power consumption caused by circuit loss during recovery operation. Test results with 50' HD single-scan PDP(resolution = 1366$\times$768) show that less than 3sons of recovery time is successfully accomplished and about$54\%$ of the maximum power consumption can be reduced, tracing minimum power consumption curves.

  • This paper proposes a non-isolated bidirectional soft-switching converter with high voltage for high step-up/down and high power applications. Compared to the conventional boost converter the proposed converter can achieve approximately doubled voltage gain using the same duty cycle. The voltage ratings of the switch and diode are reduced to half, which result in the use of devices with lower $R_{DS(ON)}$ and on drop leading to reduced conduction losses. Also, voltage ratings of the passive components are reduced, and therefore the total energy volume is reduced to half. Further, the switch is turned on with ZVS in the CCM operation which results in negligible surge caused leading to reduced switching losses. The validity of the proposed converter is proved through a 10kW prototype.

  • An underground electric switch is a high-voltage switch used in distribution network systems for a reliable power supply. Many studies are being conducted to expand the switch to use an eco-friendly gas using dry air instead of SF6 gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, a flow analysis model was established to improve the performance of an eco-friendly gas switch. The results were compared and reviewed through experiments. For the optimal arc grid design applied to the switch, the flow characteristics based on the flow path configuration and the changes in arcing time for each configuration were compared. Flow analysis can predict the switch flow distribution, and a comparative review of the flow path configurations of various methods is possible.

  • 본 논문에서는 고전압 대용량 응용에 적합한, 하이브리드 cascade 5-레벨 PWM 인버터를 이용한 정지형 무효전력보상기가 제안된다. 또한, 제안된 시스템을 회로 DQ 모델링하고 이로부터 시스템의 중요한 동작특성을 해석하고 각종 관련 식들을 유도한다. 제안된 무효전력보상기는 대용량으로 구성 이 가능하고, 대용량-저주파 스위칭을 하는 GTO와 소용량-고주파 스위칭을 하는 IGBT등 서로 다른 종류의 스위치를 섞어 사용하는 하이브리드 구성의 장점을 가지므로 전력반도체 스위치의 활용도를 극대화 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 정지형 무효전력보상기의 회로구성과 특성이 설명 및 해석되고, 이를 PSIM 회로 시뮬레이션으로 그 동작특성 해석의 타당성을 입증한다.

고효율 고역률 LED 조명장치용 전원공급장치 (High Efficiency and High Power-Factor Power Supply for LED Lighting Equipment)

  • 본 논문에서는 고효율 고역률 LED 조명장치용 전원공급장치를 제안한다. 제안한 전원공급장치는 풀브리지 다이오드 정류기와 플라이백 컨버터로 구성된 단일단 전력구조이며, 이에 따라 하나의 제어기 IC와 하나의 전력반도체스위치만을 사용하여 역률개선과 출력전압조정을 동시에 수행한다. 또한 제안한 전원공급장치는 회생스너버를 이용하여 주스위치의 전압스트레스와 스위칭손실을 감소시키며, 동기정류기를 이용하여 시스템 효율을 향상한다. 적용된 동기정류기는 새로운 전압구동형이며 동작과 구성이 간단하다. 본 논문에서는 역률개선부와 주전력변환부의 동작분석을 통하여 제안한 전원공급장치의 동작원리를 설명하고 동기정류기의 동작에 관하여 간략하게 설명한다. 또한 40W급 프로토타입 전력회로의 설계예시를 제시하며, 설계된 회로파라미터들에 의해 제작된 프로토타입의 실험 결과를 통하여 제안한 전원공급장치의 동작특성을 입증한다.

고주파에서 방향성결합형 광 스위치의 출력 특성변화 (Characterization of directional coupling optical switch at High frequency)

  • Directional coupling optical switch which on the LiNbO$_3$ substrate is fabricated by using proton exchange method and self-aligned method. Proton exchange of proton diffusion method was applied to pattern a waveguide on LiNbO$_3$ substrate. The annealing at 400[$^{\circ}C$] was caroled out to control waveguide width and depth. The process of proton exchange was done at 150[$^{\circ}C$] for 120[min], 200[$^{\circ}C$] for 60[min] and annealing process was done at 400[$^{\circ}C$] for 90[min], 400[$^{\circ}C$] for 60[min]. The high speed directional coupling optical switch has very good figures of merits:the measured high frequency power were achieved.
