  • To use the SLIM for servo system, the exact account of thrust about the initial speed is needed, but analyzing by equivalent circuit analyzing methode such as rotary induction motor, the error occurs because of the end effect. So, we applied the equivalent circuit considering the end effect of SLIM in this paper. The current control system is advanced the space vector pulse width modulation by using high arithmetic performance microprocessor such as DSP. In this paper, we use the dynamic characteristic analyzing methode that can calculate efficiently the end effect by using equivalent circuit methode in the operating SLIM system modeling and examine the output characteristics of SVPWM with PI controller.

  • In this paper, we propose a data encoding algorithm for two-dimensional barcode system. In general, one-dimensional barcode is just a key which can access detailed information to the host computer database. But the two-dimensional barcode is a new technology which can obtain high density information without access to the host computer database. We implemented encoding algorithm for Data Matrix Barcode which is the most widely used among the many kind of two-dimensional barcodes. And we marked to a real object using Digital Signal Processor(DSP) Marking System. The performance of proposed algorithm is verified through the result of marking work.

  • In one VTR(Video Tape Recorder), two or more heads are used to record or reproduce video signals. To obtain a uniform quality of a VTR, video heads should have similar charcteristics such as geometrical shapes and electro-magnetic performances. This research is aimed to develop a visual inspection system that can measure four geoemtrical parameters;HO, HI, Tw and Cw. To obtain a high realable results, DSP based image board and target based image processing algorithms were used. A series of experiments was performed for one thousands of video heads. From observation of the experimental results, the system is found to show good performance for inspection of video heads.

  • Polishing work for a curved surface die demands simple and repetitive operations and requires much time while it also demands high precision. Therefore it is operated by skilled worker in handiwork. But workers avoid polishing work gradually because of the poor environments such as dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and to alleviate the problem of shortage of skilled workers, researches for automation of polishing have been pursued in the developed countries such as Japan. In this research we develop a polishing robot with 2 degrees of freedom motion and pneumatic system, and attach it to machining center with 3 degrees of freedom to form an automatic polishing system which keeps the polishing tool vertically on the surface of die and maintains constant pneumatic pressure. The developed polishing robot is controlled by real time sliding mode control using DSP(digital signal processor). A synchronization between machining center and polishing robot is accomplished by using M code of machining center. A performance experiment for polishing work is executed by the developed polishing robot.

  • This paper describes a bus interface unit which is used in a 32bit high-performance multimedia RISC CPU including DSP unit. The main idea adopted in designing is that the bus interface unit enables the processor to provide on-chip functions for controlling memory and peripheral devices, including RAS-cAS multiplexing, DRAM refresh and parity generation and checking. The number of bus cycles used for a memory or I/O access is also defined by the processor, thus, no external bus controllers are required. All memories and peripheral devices can be connected directly, pin to pin, without any glue logic. That is the key point of the design.

  • The paper describes a implementation of space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) voltage source inverter using Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) for a induction motor control system. The implemented chip is included logic circuits for SVPWM, dead time compensation and speed detection using Quick Logic, QL16X24B. The maximum operating frequency and delay time can be set to 110MHz and 6 nsec. The designed FPGA for SVPWM can be incorporated with a digital signal processing to provide a simple and effective solution for high performance voltage source inverter drives. Simulation and Implementation results are shown to verify the usefulness of FPGA as a Application Specific Integrated Circuit(ASIC) in power electronics applications

  • In this paper, a self-organizing fuzzy controller(SOFC) for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied A fuzzy login composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variable of the controller, In the synthesis of a FLC, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic level and high level that modify control rules. The proposed SOFC scheme is simple in structure, fast in computations and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Performance of the SOFC is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for robot with low joints.

  • In this paper, we present a DSP-based high dynamic performance torque control scheme of variable reluctance motors(VRM's) for DD(Direct Drive) robots via function inversion technique. The VRM with our controller behaves like DC motors, and hence developed torque tracks given torque command accurately with no torque ripples. Furthermore, our torque control algorithm ensures the production of maximum constant torque under maximum current limitation, minimizes power loss in each phase resistance, and takes magnetic saturation effect into account. Also, since our control algorithm is represented in the form of look-up table, it can be easily implemented with simple digital circuits and this tabular design method is computationally more accurate and simpler compared to the prior methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to the development of the automatic vision system to examine and repair the steam generator tubes at remote distance. In nuclear power plants, workers are reluctant of works in steam generator because of the high radiation environment and limited working space. It is strongly recommended that the examination and maintenance works be done by an automatic system for the protection of the operator from the radiation exposure. Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time recognition and examination of steam generator tubes in the proposed vision system. Performance of the proposed digital vision system is illustrated by simulation and experiment for similar steam generator model.
