통신 시스템을 위한 고성능 재구성 가능 코프로세서의 설계 (Novel Reconfigurable Coprocessor for Communication Systems)

  • 본 논문은 통신 시스템에서 요구하는 다양한 연산과 고속의 동작을 수행할 수 있는 재구성 가능 코프로세서를 제안하였다. 제안된 재구성 가능 코프로세서는 스크램블링, 인터리빙, 길쌈부호화, 비터비 디코딩, FFT 등과 같은 통신 시스템에 필수적인 연산 동작을 쉽게 구현할 수 있는 특징을 가진다. 제안된 재구성 가능 코프로세서는 VHDL로 설계하여 SEC 0.18$\mu$m 표준셀 라이브러리를 이용해 합성하였으며, 총 35,000 게이트에 3.84ns의 최대 동작 속도를 보였다. 제안된 코프로세서에 대한 성능검증 결과 IEEE 802.11a WLAN 표준에 대해 기존 DSP에 비해서 FFT 연산과 Complex MAC의 경우 약 $33\%$, 비터비 디코딩의 경우 약 $37\%$, 스크램블링 및 길쌈부호화의 경우 약 $48\%\~84\%$의 연산 사이클 감소를 확인하였으며 다양한 통신 알고리즘에 대해 기존 DSP보다 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

  • A high speed tracking control for 6-6 Stewart platform manipulator is performed by employing the joint-axis sliding mode control based on dynamics. Because of the complex dynamics and kinematics of Stewart platform manipulator, two computer systems, consisting of a PC and a DSP, are adopted, so that real time tasks are run in synchronous and asynchronous modes. It is experimentally proven that the proposed control system leads to an easy to implement and effective control task, and it can achieve the high performance tracking control under the high speed and severe payload condition.

  • It is difficult to adapt modern control theory to power conversion system for the price of real time control H/W and the difficulty of S/W implementation. But recent development of large integrated circuit make it possible that One-Chip microprocessor processes high speed arithmatic calculation used in control theory. Specially this chip is called Digital Signal Processing chip. So, this research developes high performance, high reliable digital control system using TMS320C30 of Texas Instrument for real time control in power conversion system.

  • BLDCM(Brushless D.C. Motor) is widely used for industrial application because of high efficiency and high power density. Especially, in servo system and home appliance, BLDCM is very useful due to high control performance and low acoustic noise. In this paper, 2.5HP rated BLDCM and its controller is developed for tread mill application. The prototype BLDCM has 4 poles rotor and 24 slots stator. Ferrite magnet was used as a rotor magnet because of the cost and temperature characteristic. For the stable operation of tread mill, current and temperature can be detected and treated by DSP. Thedesigned BLDCM and its controller is verified by the experimental results.

  • In this paper, a magnetic suspension system with inductive sensors fur a high vacuum turbomolecular pump(TMP) is discussed. The performance of designed inductive position sensor is evaluated by static and dynamic test, and the test results show sensitivity of about 6,000 V/m and dynamic bandwidth of 750 ㎐. The protype of magnetic suspension system is designed and constructed with 5-axis magnetic bearing, inductive sensor and BLDC internal motor. With DSP based digital PID control system, the prototype is examined its high damping ratio and stable operation up to 20,000 rpm of rotation.

  • In this paper, an DC/DC converter system has been proposed, which is suitable for fuel cell based power generation systems. The proposed converter system has outstanding advantages over the conventional dc-dc converters with respect to high efficiency and high power density. The developed converter system has been experimentally tested with using DSP PWM controller so that the performance of the proposed converter could be effectively examined and the validity of the converter could be verified.

  • High accuracy and stability digital controlled power supply for magnet is developed at PLS. This power supply has three sections. The first section is digital controller including DSP&FPGA and precision ADC, the second section consists of IGBT driver and four quad IGBT switch, and the third section is LC output filter section. AC input voltage of power supply is 3-phase 21V, output current is 0 ${\sim}$ 150 A dc. Switching frequency of four quad IGBT switch is 25 kHz. The output current of power supply has very high accuracy of 100 A step resolution at full range and the stability of +/- 1.5 ppm for short term and +/- 5 ppm for long term. This paper describes characteristics of filter and output current performance improvement after LC output filter at four quad digital power supplies.

고성능 멀티미디어 처리용 병렬프로세서 하드웨어 설계 및 구현 (Hardware Design and Implementation of a Parallel Processor for High-Performance Multimedia Processing)

  • 최근 모바일 멀티미디어 기기들의 사용이 증가 하면서 고성능 멀티미디어 프로세서에 대한 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 낮은 소비전력으로 고성능 멀티미디어 애플리케이션을 구현할 수 있는 SIMD기반 병렬프로세서를 제안한다. 제안하는 병렬프로세서는 16개의 프로세싱 엘리먼트로 구성되어 있으며, 3단계 파이프라인 구조로 설계되었다. 모의실험 결과, 제안한 SIMD기반 병렬프로세서는 기존의 병렬프로세서보다 프로세싱 엘리먼트 당 상대 연산 처리량에서 높은 성능을 보였으며, 또한 동일한 130nm 테크놀리지와 720 클록주파수에서 상용 고성능 프로세서인 TI C6416보다 1.4~31.4배의 성능 향상 및 5.9~8.1배의 에너지 효율 향상을 보였다. 제안한 병렬프로세서를 하드웨어 설계언어인 verilog HDL을 이용하여 설계하였고, FPGA를 이용해 검증하였다.

Implementation of Fuzzy Self-Tuning PID and Feed-Forward Design for High-Performance Motion Control System

  • The existing conventional motion controller does not perform well in the presence of nonlinear properties, uncertain factors, and servo lag phenomena of industrial actuators. Hence, a feasible and effective fuzzy self-tuning proportional integral derivative (PID) and feed-forward control scheme is introduced to overcome these problems. In this design, a fuzzy tuner is used to tune the PID parameters resulting in the rejection of the disturbance, which achieves better performance. Then, both velocity and acceleration feed-forward units are added to considerably reduce the tracking error due to servo lag. To verify the capability and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, the hardware configuration includes digital signal processing (DSP) which plays the main role, dual-port RAM (DPRAM) to guarantee rapid and reliable communication with the host, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to handle the task of the address decoder and receive the feed-back encoder signal, and several peripheral logic circuits. The results from the experiments show that the proposed motion controller has a smooth profile, with high tracking precision and real-time performance, which are applicable in various manufacturing fields.

엔진-발전기 시스템 모델링 및 제어특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study upon Modeling and Control of Coupled Engine and Generator System)

  • Modeling of engine-generator system and its control responses are investigated using high performance generator controller. The nonlinear engine is modeled using mean torque production model based on experimental engine map. In case of diesel engine. the amount of injected fief is decided by engine controller depending on the APS(Acceleration Position Sensor) value. An electromechanical generator model contains electrical circuits and moment of inertia. The generator controller maximizes the performance of generator using decoupling and linearized current feedback control. The generator control system consists of 3-phase IGBT inverter and controller board based on 32 bit floating point DSP. Field oriented control algorithm with digital current feedback control at 10kHz sampling enabled high performance torque and speed control of induction machine. Not only the steady state but also the transient state responses can be evaluated through a batch test of the engine generator system. Developed engine and generator modeling and control can be utilized in various applications such as Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle(SHEV), engine-generator for emergency, and other hybrid generation systems.
