  • In this paper, we propose a motion estimation method using hierarchical triangulation that changes the triangular mesh structure according to it's motion activity. The subdivision of triangular mesh is performed from the amount of motion that is calculated from the variance of image difference. As a result, node distribution is concentrated on the region of high activity. The subdivision method that makes it possible to yield hierarchical triangular mesh is proposed as well as the additional information reduction coding method for hierarchical mesh structure is described. By the simulation, proposed method have better performance than the conventional BMA(Block Match Algorithm) and the other mesh based method.

  • In this paper, we propose a hierarchical triangular mesh generation method based on the motion information and a fast rude convergence method. From the variance of Image difference we decide the region that subdivision is required and perform the adequate triangulation method that is possible to yield a successive hierarchical triangulation. For fast node convergence, in initial search, we use the refinement method that separate the backgroung and object region and maintain the mesh connection by using the bilinear interpolation. The simulation result demonstrate that proposed triangulation method have performance in PSNR than the conventional BMA or order mesh based method and refinement is appropriate for the case of the mesh size is small.

  • In this paper, we propose a hierarchical method for segmenting a given 3D mesh, which hierarchically clusters sharp vertices of the mesh using the metric of geodesic distance among them. Sharp vertices are extracted from the mesh by analyzing convexity that reflects global geometry. As well as speeding up the computing time, the sharp vertices of this kind avoid the problem of local optima that may occur when feature points are extracted by analyzing the convexity that reflects local geometry. For obtaining more effective results, the sharp vertices are categorized according to the priority from the viewpoint of cognitive science, and the reasonable number of clusters is automatically determined by analyzing the geometric features of the mesh.

  • In this paper we propose a new type of splines-biquadratic submesh splines over hierarchical T-meshes. The biquadratic submesh splines are in rational form consisting of some biquadratic B-splines defined over tensor-product submeshes of a hierarchical T-mesh, where every submesh is around a cell in the crossing-vertex relationship graph of the T-mesh. We provide an effective algorithm to locate the valid tensor-product submeshes. A local refinement algorithm is presented and the application of submesh splines in surface fitting is provided.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme for view-dependent transmission of three-dimensional (3-D) polygonal mesh models with hierarchial partitioning. In order to make a view-dependent representation of 3-D mesh models, we combine sequential and progressive mesh transmission techniques. By setting higher priorities to visible parts than invisible parts, we can obtain good qualify of 3-D models in a limited transmission bandwidth. In this paper, we use a multi -layer representation of 3-D mesh models based on hierarchical partitioning. After representing the 3-D mesh model in a hierarchical tree, we determine resolutions of partitioned submeshes in the last level. Then, we send 3-D model data by view-dependent selection using mesh merging and mesh splitting operations. By the partitioned mesh merging operation, we can reduce the joint boundary information coded redundantly in the partitioned submeshes. We may transmit additional mesh information adaptively through the mesh spritting operation.

  • In this paper, a hierarchical simulation with an approximate implicit method is proposed in order to efficiently and plausibly animate mass-spring based cloth models. The proposed hierarchical simulation method can generate realistic motion of extremely fine mesh in interactive rate. The proposed technique employs a fast and stable simulation method which approximates the implicit integration. Although the approximate method is efficient, it is extremely inaccurate and shows excessively damped behavior. The hierarchical simulation technique proposed in this paper constructs multi-level mesh structure in order to represent the realistic appearance of cloth model and performs simulation on each level of the mesh with constraints that enforce some of the mass-points of current level to follow the movement of the previous level. This hierarchical method efficiently generates a plausible movement of a cloth model composed of large number of mass points. Moreover, this hierarchical method enables us to generate realistic wrinkles on the cloth, and the wrinkle pattern on the cloth model can be easily controlled because we can specify different contraction resistance force of springs according to their hierarchical level.

  • In this paper we propose an improved hierarchical routing protocol for wireless hybrid mesh network. The proposed method efficiently manages network topology and reduces overhead traffic for setting routing path by considering link stability. The simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the HOLSR (hierarchical optimized link state routing) method in aggregate goodput, packet delivery ratio, and end-to-end delay.

  • A superhydrophobic mesh is a unique structure that blocks water, while allowing gases, sound waves, and energy to pass through the holes in the mesh. This mesh is used in various devices, such as gas- and energy-permeable waterproof membranes for underwater sensors and electronic devices. However, it is difficult to fabricate micro- and nano-structures on three-dimensional surfaces, such as the cylindrical surface of a wire mesh. In this research, we successfully produced a superhydrophobic water-repellent mesh with a high contact angle (> $150^{\circ}$) for nanofibrous structures. Conducting polymer (CP) composite nanofibers were evenly coated on a stainless steel mesh surface, to create a superhydrophobic mesh with a pore size of $100{\mu}m$. The nanofiber structure could be controlled by the deposition time. As the deposition time increased, a high-density, hierarchical nanofiber structure was deposited on the mesh. The mesh surface was then coated with Teflon, to reduce the surface energy. The fabricated mesh had a static water contact angle of $163^{\circ}$, and a water-pressure resistance of 1.92 kPa.

  • Along with the development of network, more and more functions and services are required by users, while traditional network fails to support all of them. Although overlay is a good solution to some demands, using them in an efficient, scalable way is still a problem. This paper puts forward a framework on how to construct an efficient, scalable overlay mesh in real network. Main differences between other overlays and ours are that our overlay mesh processes some nice features including class-of-service(CoS) and traffic engineering(TE). It embeds the end-to-end optimal traffic control law which can distribute traffic in an optimal way. Then, an example is given for better understanding the framework. Particularly, besides good scalability, and failure recovery, it possesses other characteristics such as routing simplicity, self-organization, etc. In such an overlay mesh, an applicable source routing scheme called hierarchical source routing is used to transmit data packet based on UDP protocol. Finally, a guideline derived from a number of simulations is proposed on how to set various parameters in this overlay mesh, which makes the overlay more efficient.

  • The superhydrophobic and superoleophobic meshes surfaces have been used in various applications such as self-cleaning, anti-icing, gas exchange, oil-water separation, sound-wave penetrable anti-wetting structures, etc. In particular, there are many studies for oil-water separation with environmental issues. Because of high pressure and dynamic environment, oil-water separation filters must have stable surface properties as super-hydrophobicity and superoleophobicity. The oleophobicity of surface depends on the surface chemistry and roughness of the surface. The roughness of oleophobic surface enhances its static contact angle and stability. The multi-scale hierarchical structure provides a stable superhydrophobic state by maintaining a Cassie state. In this research, we fabricated a superoleophobic mesh with a multi-scale hierarchical structure to increase the pressure resistance and adjusted a size of the mesh hole.
