Minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of Sophorae Subprostratae Radix. Aconiti Radix, Hibisci Syriaci Cortex and those mixture. Phellodendri Cortex, Sophorae Radix, Torilis Fructuson on various species of the dermatophytes on Microsporium gypseum, Trichophytone rubrum and Epidermophytone floccosum were determined after 4 weeks of incubation at $25^{\circ}C$ in Sabouraud dextrose broth. The results were summarized as followes : 1. Antifungal effects of Phellodendri $Cortex\;{\cdot}Hibisci$ Syriaci Cortex and mixture of Sophorae Subprostratae Radix, Aconiti Radix, Hibisci Syriaci Cortex on T rubrum which is the most common organism of tinea pedis were more effective than that of the others. 2 These results suggested that herbal medicines such as Phellodendri $Cortex\;{\cdot}Hibisci$ Syriaci Cortex and mixture of Sophorae Subprostratae Radix, Aconiti Radix, Hibisci Syriaci Cortexse can be used to treat tinea pedis and to improve untoward effects associated with the administration of antifugual agents.

This experimental study was performed to investigate the antifungal effects of mixture of Sophorac Subprostratae Radix, Aconti Radix, and Hibisci Syriaci Cortex by the three types of extraction in the dermatophytes such as Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Epidermophyton floccosum. The following results were obtained by using Minimum Inhibition Concentration(MIC) and Inhibition Zone. 1. MIC on Trichophyton mentagrophytes in Sample S-2, Sample S-3, and Sample-Y were 10${\mu}l$, respectively, showing the highest antifungal effect. 2. MIC on Epidermophyton floccosum in Sample S-2, Sample S-3, and Sample-Y were 10㎕ respectively, showing the highest antifungal effect. 3. MIC on Trichophyton rubrum in Sample S-3, Sample-Y were 10${\mu}l$ respectively, showing the highest antifungal effect. 4. The size of inhibition zone on Trichophyton mentagrophytes for Sample S-3 were 22.3mm in 10${\mu}l$, showing the highest antifungal effect. 5. The size of inhibition zone on Epidermophyton floccosum for Sample S-3 was 34.3mm in 10${\mu}l$, showing the highest antifungal effect. 6. The size of inhibition zone on Trichophyton rubrum for Sample-Y was 26.5mm in 10${\mu}l$, showing the highest antifungal effect. Whereas. in extractions, that of Sample S-3 was 12.5mm in 10${\mu}l$, showing the highest antifungal effect. 7. From the above results, Sample S-3 on Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum and Sample-Y on Trichophyton rubrum showed the highest antifungal effects. This results suggests that vinegar extraction excels other extraction method using water or ethanol to measure the antifungal effect on dermatophytes. In addition, the result shows that the extract of herbal medicines can be used to tinea pedis and if further study is performed, the use of the extract of herbal medicines will be valuable and beneficial in the clinical medicines. Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on tinea pedis in studies of Korean medicine.Methods : We searched papers using NDSL, KISS, RISS and KTKP(Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal). The first search used the keyword "Tinea pedis" in NDSL, KISS, RISS and KTKP. Used searching duration was not specified.Results : Studies found in NDSL, KISS and RISS were 122 and 118 studies were excluded. Studies found in KTKP were five papers and four studies of them were excluded. Finally five studies were selected and analyzed. Two studies of five selected ones were experimental researches and three studies were clinical researches. Among 2 researches of experimental researches, one of them was about antifungal efficacy of herbal medicines and ethahol extract of the mixture of Sophorae Subprostratae Radix, Aconiti Radix and Hibisci Syriaci Cortex and hot water extract of Phellodendri Cortex were effective. The other was about antifungal effect of the medicinal herb extraction method and vinegar extract was effective. Among 3 researches of clinical researches, there were one clinical study and two case studies. Functional soap containing herbal medicines and bee venom therapy were effective.Conclusions : As we looked for five researches, which were two experimental studies, one clinical study and two case studies. It is possible to treat tinea pedis with korean medical approach by conclusions of 5 researches. We expect that further researches will be proceeded and following results can be actively used as clinical treatments.

Hibiscus syriacus is rarely used herb. For finding up new applications of this herb, the medicinal parts and expected efficacys that recorded in 24 classics of oriental medicine were inquired. As a result of the literature review, medicinal parts and expected efficacys of Hibiscus syriacus were as follows: The medicinal parts were mainly flower and bark. But the root, branch, leaf and fruit were mentioned too. Some unidentified medicinal parts seemed to be branch or bark. The mentioned symptoms that prescribed Hibiscus syriacus are intestinal 'wind', red-white dysentery, thirst with fever after dysentery, insomnia, 'wind' syndrom, leukorrhea, regurgitation, etc. And this herb was mentioned that applied externally for scabies, hemorrhoids, prolapse of the rectum, headache, extracted tooth, etc. Therefore, bleeding intestinal diseases, insomnia, vaginal or uterine hemorrhage(for internal use), scabies or mycosis, hemorrhoids. anal fistula, prolapse of the rectum, headache(for external use) were presented as expected efficacys of Hibiscus syriacus. In future, studies for verifying the efficacys are needed.
