A Robust Mobile Video Streaming in Heterogeneous Emerging Wireless Systems

  • With the rapid development of heterogeneous emerging wireless technologies and numerous types of mobile devices, the need to support robust mobile video streaming based on the seamless handover in Future Internet is growing. To support the seamless handover, several IP-based mobility management protocols such as Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), fast handover for the MIPv6 (FMIPv6), Hierarchical MIPv6 (HMIPv6) and Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) were developed. However, MIPv6 depreciates the Quality-of-Service (QoS) and FMIPv6 is not robust for the video services in heterogeneous emerging wireless networks when the Mobile Node (MN) may move to another visited network in contrast with its anticipation. In Future Internet, the possibility of mobile video service failure is more increased because mobile users consisting of multiple wireless network interfaces (WNICs) can frequently change the access networks according to their mobility in heterogeneous wireless access networks such as 3Generation (3G), Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax) and Bluetooth co-existed. And in this environment, seamless mobility is coupled according to user preferences, enabling mobile users to be "Always Best Connected" (ABC) so that Quality of Experience is optimised and maintained. Even though HMIPv6 and PMIPv6 are proposed for the location management, handover latency enhancement, they still have limit of local mobility region. In this paper, we propose a robust mobile video streaming in Heterogeneous Emerging Wireless Systems. In the proposed scheme, the MN selects the best-according to an appropriate metric-wireless technology for a robust video streaming service among all wireless technologies by reducing the handover latency and initiation time when handover may fail. Through performance evaluation, we show that our scheme provides more robust mechanism than other schemes.

  • We designed asynchronous event logic library with 0.25um CMOS technology and interface chip for heterogeneous system with high-speed asynchronous FIFO operating at 1.6GHz. Optimized asynchronous standard cell layouts and Verilog models are designed for top-down design methodology. A Method for mitigating a design bottleneck when it comes to tolerate clock skew is described. This communication scheme using clock control circuits, which is used for the free of synchronization failures, is analyzed and implemented. With clock control circuit and FIFO, high-speed communication between synchronous modules operating at different clock frequencies or with asynchronous modules is performed. The core size of implemented high-speed 32bit-interface chip for heterogeneous system is about $1.1mm{\times}1.1mm$.

  • An investigation into the detailed safety diagnosis report indicates that domestic highway bridges mainly suffer from defects, deterioration, and damage due to physical forces. In particular, deterioration is an inevitable damage that occurs due to various environmental and external factors over time. In particular, bridge deck is very vulnerable to cracks, which occur along with various types of damages such as rebar corrosion and surface delamination. Thus, this study evaluates a correlation between heterogeneous damage and deterioration environment and then identifies the main causes of such heterogeneous damage. After all, a bridge heterogeneous damage prediction model was developed using random forests to determine the top five factors contributing to the occurrence of the heterogeneous damage. The results of the study would serve as a basic data for estimating bridge maintenance and budget.

  • KOMPSAT-2 was successively launched on July 28,06. She carries Fine Spatial Resolution Sensor with three channels. It is 4m monochromatic and 1m panchromatic. The main purposes would derive fine urban map and digital elevation model(DEM).Therefore we extend to coastal environment monitoring using the adjacent effect of radiation due to an interaction of radiation between heterogeneous surface and atmosphere. With data analysis of ASTER on TERA, which is 15m resolution in visible and near infrared wavelengths, we found atmospheric aerosols were always large. Note that data analysis was limited in Nagoya bay, Lake Tahoe, California & La Pozuelos, La Picasa, Argentina. Thus this time we expect data analyses around isolated island and peninsula in west and south coast of Korea.

  • The introduction of geodetic methods of absolute displacement monitoring in tunnels has improved the value of the measurements significantly. By using this method, structurally controlled behavior and influences of an anisotropic rock mass can be determined and the excavation and support adjusted accordingly. In this study cases of tunnel monitoring in anisotropic/heterogeneous rock masses are analyzed, and various anisotrpic behavior of tunnel can be estimated. Because rock anisotropy and heterogeneity can have great influence on tunnel behavior, tunnel design considering rock anisotropy and heterogeneity is needed. Also under construction, feedback must be performed by using face mapping and monitoring to prevent over-deformation and tunnel collapse.

  • In this paper, we presented function catalogs that Internet content transcoding system for heterogeneous client devices must offer, and, we proposed content transcoding framework architecture that is good in extensibility. This transcoding framework can accommodate each transcoder in efficient way using device capability and user preference information based on W3C's CC/PP and Wap forum's UAProf specification. This architecture offers advantages that can add developed transcoder dynamically in Plug-In form later.

  • The clonidine transport mechanism through the skin was investigated with assumptions that epidermis is heterogeneous and two-layer membrane. Immobilization of clonidine was not found in stratum corneum but in viable epidermis. The sorption in the viable epidermis agreed with the dual sorption theory. Diffusion coefficient in stratum corneum was five order magnitude less than that in viable epidermis. In viable epidermis, the ratio of true diffusivity to apparent diffusivity increased initially then decreased as a function of clonidine concentration, and the true diffusivity was always larger than the apparent diffusivity.

  • Four $Cd^{II}$ MOFs, $[Cd_2({\mu}-succinate)_2(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}H_2O$ (1A), $[Cd_2({\mu}-succinate)_2({\mu}-4,4^{\prime}-bpy)_2]{\cdot}H_2O$ (1B), $[\{Cd_2({\mu}-succinate)_2\}({\mu}-bpa)_2\{Cd(H_2O)_2\}(NO_3)_2]{\cdot}H_2O$ (2), and $[Cd({\mu}-succinate)({\mu}-bpp)_2]{\cdot}2H_2O$ (3), with various bipyridyl ligands (4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy), 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpa), and 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp)) were prepared, and their structures were determined using X-ray crystallography. The structures and dimensionalities of $Cd^{II}$-(succinate) compounds varied depending on the auxiliary ligands. Heterogeneous catalytic activity for transesterification reactions, photoluminescence and the thermal stabilities of these compounds were also examined.
