The purpose of this case study is to show a case of acute posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) complete injury improved by conservative acupuncture therapy. The patient was treated for 100 days. The patient received deep interarticular electroacupuncture(EA) stimulation at S35, LE200, LE211 and treated by other acupoint stimulation, herb medication, cupping, physical treatments and exercise. We evaluated through MRI and Lysholm knee score. We suggest to treat acute posterior cruciate ligament(PCL) injury with acupuncture therapy meaning conservative therapy and would like to research acupuncture treatment plan for the further treatments.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to report the effects of Korean medical treatment (acupuncture, moxibustion, herb medicine) combined with intense pulsed light (IPL) on three postpartum patients with freckles worsened during pregnancy. Methods and Results The postpartum patients with freckles were treated with acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medication and IPL. The energy density of IPL was selected modified according to skin types classified by Sasang constitutional medicine. This efficacy of treatment was evaluated with observation. After treatment, freckles as well as various postpartum symptoms are improved. Conclusions This case report shows that the Korean medical treatment combined with IPL is effective in the treatment of postpartum patient's freckles. However further studies are still necessary.

Purpose : This study was carried out to analyze the cognition and realities of postpartum care and to aid the spread of oriental medicine in postpartum care and to get a basic guideline of postpartum care home and Korean Medicine Doctor(K.M.D.)'s role model of postpartum care. Methods : We has made questions about the cognition and realities of postpartum care to 2 groups they are workers with postpartum care Home at Gangdong-gu or Songpa-gu puerperants and K.M. doctors working at Gangdong-gu from December 2005 to April 2006. And then we analyzed collected data by using statistics analysis program, SPSS. Results : Almost of 2 group felt sympathy for importance of postpartum care. 5.9% of workers with postpartum care home had maternity nurse licence, 67.6% of them had nurse license and 26.5% of them had nurse's aide qualification. 97.1% of them had experience at medical institution. Most of K.M.D. used Herb-medication for postpartum care with acupuncture and Moxibustion additionally. Conclusion : Workers with postpartum care home had a comparatively good record of medical care or postpartum care. There was difference between 2 groups about proper management model of postpartum care home.

Atopic Dermatitis is chronic eczematous dermatosis which is related strongly to a family history of atopic disease and hereditary disposition. Its threshold of itching is low so that severe itching occurs and causes secondary eczema. The purpose of this study was to estimate the efficiency of oriental medical treatment and management on atopic Dermatitis. We studied 2 patients who visited Wonkwang University Kwangju Oriental Hospital Dept. of Dermatol. with atopic dermatitis from April 2004 to February 2005. We treated him with herb-medication, acupuncture, negative therapy, full spectrum visible ray therapy(by carbon arc). We used the ADSI(Atopic Dermatitis Severity Index) to assess the severity of atopic dermatitis. The grade of the severity of atopic dermatitis was lower only by the traditional chinese medical treatments and management. Considering the above result, more study is needed the factors of increasing severity of atopic dermatitis, and the clinical interchange or atopic Dermatitis between oriental medicine and western medicine.

Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the effects of thoracolumbar junction's Hyeopcheok points(夾脊穴) for low-back pain in the thoracolumbar junction syndrome. Method : 1. Measurement : We investigated 26 patients with low-back pain. The unpleasantness of pain was measured by visual analogue scale(VAS), and the Oswestry low-back pain disability index(ODI). We compared the VAS and ODI scores of the two groups statistically. 2. Intervention : Use Acupuncture and bee venom injection in thoracolumbar junction's Hyeopcheok points that display main tender points. Also, herb medication and physical therapy was used. Results and Conclusion : As a result of treatment, thoracolumbar junction's Hyeopcheok points is very effective for low-back pain. However, more cases are required to oriental medicine in order to prove the availability.

Objective : This study is to report the effect of Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture on a patient suffering from the pain of Hip Adductors after operation for hip fracture. Methods : First we had treated the patient with the pain of Hip Adductors by acupuncture and herb medication(活絡湯), but we did't get remarkable improvement in condition of patient. So we added to treat his pain site with Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture. And then we evaluated his pain by VAS(Visual Analog Scale). Results : 1. Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture had a very excellent effect on relieving pain and inflammation of Hip Adductors after operation for hip fracture. 2. It appears that Scolopendrid Herbal Acupuncture is very effective against Trigger Point of muscle and pain site fixed.

Objectives : This study planed to evaluate effect of oriental medicine therapy treatment method of dyspnea that happen from cancer of the pancreas patient who accompany Multiple metasis Methods : Patient complained dyspnoea during admission into dept. Of internal medicine, college of oriental medicine, Dong-eui Univ, was appealed patient treated by Oriental medicine therapy that is of use Herb Medication and Herbal -acupuncture Treatment being diagnosed in lung asthenia including deficiency of Eum and insufficiency of Gi of the lung(肺虛), the fire due to deficiency(虛火), and loving warfare of symptoms evaluated through VAS (visual analog scales). Results & Conclusion : Patient's difficulty in breathing symptoms took a favorable turn after treatment. This study means that Oriental medicine therapy that is difficulty in breathing symptoms that happen from patient surely has effectiveness.

Acute hepatitis is caused by virus, alcohol. toxins and drugs. Clinical symptoms of acute hepatitis are severe fatigue, jaundice, nausea, hepatomely, lymphadenopathy. We encountered two cases of acute hepatitis, one C type viral hepatitis and the other hepatitis by overuse of medicine. The symptoms of the latter are severe fatigue, petechia and heartburning. The symptoms of the latter are severe fatigue, nausea, dyspepsia, yellow urine and skin. We recognized that total bilirubin. direct bilirubin, serum transaminase, alkaline phosphatase and gamma glutamyl transferase were elevated. We treated both patients with herb medicine(Gagamsaenggan-tang). Gagamsaenggan-tang has been used to hepatic diseases and have been known to have beneficial effects. The patients' symptoms began to improve after about two weeks of treatment. After 3 weeks on medication, the clinical symptoms and liver function of two patients were improved.

Objective This study was designed to collect latest papers and to find more effective approach for Postmenopausal Women Methods We searched 85 papers in English from Pubmed(www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) and selected 40 in favor of our study. In addition to that, we searched 24 papers in Korean from Kiss(www.kiss.kstudy.com) and Medric(www.medric.or.kr). Results are as follows. Results and conclusion Many studies showed that postmenopausal obesity causes cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, breast cancer and decrease in immunity. To prevent and treat obesity, many studies suggested that dietary and exercise are most effective methods. If needed, medicine and hormone therapy may be recommended as next steps. But, Herb medication and acupuncture are not used yet as postmenopausal obesity treatment around the world. Postmenopausal obesity is significant, resulting in many medical problems. We hope more effective treatment based on these studies and combined with Korean traditional medicine could be developed after.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterised by progressive impairment of motor functions up to a complete loss of autonomy, and most of ALS patients are associated with the total preservation of mental state like depression. A patient in this case report had ALS and during progress of ALS had undergone depression and Hwabyung's Symptoms. This patient was treated with herb medication, acupuncture, psychotherapy(relaxation & councelling) primarily. During the 18 days of treatment from admission, the patient experienced much improvement of depression and Hwabyung's Symptoms. and ALS's symptom like weakness & numbness of lower limb had improved considerably, too.
