Objectives : Insomnia, depression and anxiety disorder are widespread in elderly patients. Mood disorder and insomnia share complex theoretical and clinical relationships. We investigated if traditional Korean medical treatment and breathing meditation are effective in patient with insomnia, depression and anxiety disorder. Methods : We treated one patient with traditional Korean medical treatment such as accupuncture, herb-medication, moxa and breathing meditation Results : After Treatment, the chief complaint and accompanying symptoms were improved, and the score of BAI, SADS, BDI, PSQI, IQ were decresed. Conclusions : According to this study traditional Korean medical treatment is effective for the cure of insomnia, depression and anxiety disorder and breathing meditation forifies the traditional Korean medical treatment.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatments for the postpartum disease caused by abortion in an elderly gravida. Methods: The patient in this case, 40 years-old female was admitted at You-Min oriental medicine hospital for 26days($3rd/Jan/2007{\sim}29th/Jan/2007$) due to postpartum disease caused by abortion. Her chief complains were chilling, vertigo, nausea, whole body pain, and sweating. This patient was treated with oriental treatment such as herb medication, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. Results: After the oriental medical treatment, the patient was improved in the clinical symptom of postpartum disease caused by abortion and the aging process. Conclusion: This case study shows that the postpartum disease caused by abortion in an elderly gravida would be treated more carefully in oriental medicine considering women#s aging.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatments for the abnormal uterine bleeding. Methods : We treated a 30-year-old female who had been suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding for one month by Herb medication(Yikweseungyangtang, Chokyungjongoktang, Jahagehwan), acupuncture therapy and moxibustion therapy at the same time. And these teatments were based on 塞流([sailiu]-stanch blood), 澄源([chengyuan]-correct origin), 復舊([fuliu-restore) which are principles of treatment of 崩漏([benglou]-metrorrhagia). Results : After oriental medical teatment, abnormal uterine bleeding was disappeared and recovered the normal menstrual cycle. Conclusion : This case study shows that the oriental medical treatment in accordance with three principles of oriental treatment has an useful effect on abnormal uterine bleeding patient's treatment and recovery.

Epistaxis is the condition which the blood comes out with the nose. It has been known that nasal bleeding happens with many reasons. In most cases, epistaxis is a slight illness, but sometimes, it leads to death because of longstanding or copious bleeding. First of all, to stop a hemorrhage is most important treatment for epistaxis, but the curative effect of oriental medical treatment for epistaxis does not become known well. We treated a patient suffered from epistasis with acupuncture, herb medication. After treatment we observed the improvement. Based on this study, it is considered that oriental medical treatment can be applied to the management of epistaxis.

Drug eruption refers to an adverse effect which is unintentionally given rise to by dosage, injection, inhalation, suppository and ointment, etc. Maculopapular, urticarial, morbilliform, papulosquamous, pustular, and bullous morphologies may be encountered. Adverse drug reactions also can cause pruritus or dysesthesia unaccompanied by rash. We treated a patient suffered from maculopapular rash and pruritus with acupuncture, herb medication and wet dressing. After treatment we observed the improvement. Based on this study, it is considered that oriental medical treatment can be applied to the management of drug eruption.

Objectives : This study is to report five cases those have an important meaning as a result of treating female Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA) patients in the reproductive years with oriental medical treatment. The patients had problems of pregnancy because of their RA and DMARDs(disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs) before oriental medical treatment. Methods : These patients were treated by acupuncture, moxibution and herb medication. Results : The conditions of patients were improved with oriental medicine even if they had stopped DMARDs. And they became pregnant and the patients maintain their conditions. Conclusions : Oriental medical treatment was effective to improve the condition of RA patients and pregnancy. For more accurate studies, further studies would be needed with more cases.

Nummular eczema is well-shaped, coin-like lesion. Usually it is surrounded by the papules and vesicles, and is likely to be the impetigo. It's said that nummular eczema is combined with atopic dermititis, contact dermatitis, bacterial infection and so on. Recently, we experienced a nummular eczema with impetigo and that was successfully treated by the herb-medication and the ceramic resonance therapy. The medications taken by the patient were yunwhasagnatang and gamisopungsan which is used to treat allergic disease and make immune system be strong. The former effects the liver to be cool down and healthy and it also has anti-imflamatory reactions like the corticosteroid hormone. Ceramic resonance therapy utilises irradiation within the frequency range of the radiation emitted by the human body. So we report this case with a brief review of the oriental medical and medical literatures.

Parkinson's disease is a common neurodegenerative disorder charaterized by distal resting tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia, and asymmetric onset. The patient was 38-year-old man who had Parkinson's disease diagnosed and complained resting and postural tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia and so on. He was treated by oriental medicine with acupuncture, herb medication, physical therapy, kinesitherapy and Korean psychotherapy; Eejeong-byunki, Jiun-goron. After treatment the symptoms of Parkinson' disease was reduced, but the patient was deconditioned through several seizures. This result suggested that the oriental medical therapy is recommanded for Parkinson's disease. But, the relation of Parkinson's disease and seizure should be studied.

King Seonjo, the second son of King Jeongjo, is the twenty-third King of the Joseon Dynasty. He suffered mainly from spleen-stomach weakness syndrome[脾胃虛弱], neurasthenic neurosis and abscess according to the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty[朝鮮王朝實錄]. He experienced chicken pox at the age of twelve, measles at thirteen, smallpox at sixteen. In his twenties he was ill with chronic breakdown due to the spleen-stomach weakness[脾胃虛弱], accompanied by neurasthenia. Abscess occurred during his twenties and the septicemia induced by abscess worsening led him to death. Most treatments were herb-extract medication taken orally, and to some extent ointment care was applied as a cure for abscess.

Objective : 2 clinical cases were analyzed to report the improvement of patient having anger problem and patient of low leg pain treated by herb medication based on Shanghanlun disease pattern identification diagnostic system. Methods : We collected 2 cases treated by Jagyakgamcho-tang according to a disease pattern identification diagnostic system and defined the conceptional meaning of each provision by analyzing each case. Results : Patients in 2 cases were cured by Jagyakgamcho-tang selected according to Shanghanlun provisions dualized with Je-Gang(提綱) and Jo-Moon(條文). Conclusions : This study suggests Shanghanlun provisions are the record of significant factors which are closely related with and aggravate disease.
