Present experiments were undertaken in order to determine the normal hematological and blood chemical values of elks raised in Korea. Blood samples were collected from 22 healthy adult (5~10 years old) male elks raised in Kyung-pook prefecture and examined for 9 hematological and 15 blood chemical parameters using automatic blood cell counter and automatic blood chemical analyzer. The mean hematological values were determined as PCV : 34.23%, RBC count : $6.70{\times}10^{6}/{\mu}l, Hb : 12.15g/61, WBC count : 3.17{\times}10^{3}/{\mu}l$, neutrophil : 54.09%, eosinophil : 12.27%, Iymphocyte : 28.86%, monocyte : 5.23%, and platelet : $39.94$\times$10^{5}/{\mu}l$
The present study was undertaken to clarify the changes in hematological values of Korean indigenous goats according to age. Blood samples were collected from 16 goats (5 females and 11 males) from birth up to the age of 6 weeks and the levels of various hematological values were analyzed. The body weight was increased from 2.54 kg at birth to 6.41 kg at 6 weeks age. The erythrocytes (RBC) counts and hemoglobin (Hb) values of goats were decreased at 2 weeks after birth, and increased gradually from 4 weeks after birth. The hematocrit (Ht) values were decreased until 4 weeks after birth, and increased at 6 weeks after birth. The mean cell volume (MCV) and mean cell hemoglobin (MCH) were decreased until 6 weeks after birth. The mean cell hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) was increased slightly from 2 weeks after birth. The red cell distribution width (RDW) was increased significantly at 2 weeks after birth, and decreased from 4 weeks after birth. The platelet (PLT) counts were increased significantly from 2 weeks after birth. The mean platelet volume (MPV) was decreased at 2 weeks after birth, and increased gradually from 4 weeks after birth. The total white blood cell (WBC) counts and the mean absolute numbers of neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte and eosinophil were increased from 2 weeks after birth. In conclusion, the data obtained from this study may be valuable as a standard for interpreting results of hematological analyses in Korean indigenous goats.
Hematological studies in two strains of normal laboratory mice, namely ICR and ddY which were produced in Koren were carried out. Blood analysis was performed by using different methods, a fully automated analyzer (ELT 1, 500), Coulter counter (model S plus IV) and manual technique to examine possible differences resulting from methodolgies'slight differences among the values of blood parameters were obtained. There was a slight difference noted between sexes, however, similar values were obtained from both strains.
To elucidate the protective effects of Lactobacillus acidophilus-fermented milk against cadmium toxicity, the effects of administration of L acidophilus-fermented milk on hematological values and histopathological changes in cadmium-treated rats were investigated. The experimental rats were divided into 2 groups that were consisted of the one group administered with cadmium alone, and the other group administered with cadmium mixed with the fermented milk. Each group was orally administered with different doses of cadmium such as $1.7{\mu}g/g$ bw/day, $3.4{\mu}g/g$ bw/day, $6.8{\mu}g/g$ bw/day, and $13.6{\mu}g/g$ bw/day, respectively, for 1 to 8 weeks. Hematological values and enzyme activities, histopathological changes of kidney tissues were examined for the experimental groups. The values of RBC, WBC, and Hb in the groups administered with cadmium mixed with the fermented milk showed no significant differences to those of the groups administered with cadmium alone, but Hct showed significant reducing values. The activities of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(GOT) and glutamic pyruvic transaminase (GPT) in serum were significantly reduced than those of the groups administered with cadmium alone, at the low dose of cadmium treated groups. But alkaline phophatase(ALP) and lactate dehydorgenase(LDH) were significantly reduced at the high dose of cadmium treated groups. In histopathological study, a severe acute tubular necrosis of the convoluted tubules and distalation of tubules were showed in the groups administered with cadmium alone, but the kidney tissues of the groups administered with cadmium mixed with the fermented milk were similar to those of the normal group. In conclusion, the above results would suggest that L acidophilus-fermented milk has reducing effects on cadmium toxicity, at the low dose of cadmium administration.
A survey was carried out in order to figure out of phenomenon by school feeding from June 1973 to May 1974. Hematological values and plasma protein of 94 boys and 91 girls (total 185 students)were studied. As the results of this survey, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. Hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration of boys and girls were increased after school lunch. 2. Plasma protein of boys and girls were clearly increased after school lunch.
This survey was conducted to observe the relationships between hematozoa and hematological values among cattle. The genus of hematozoa were Anaplasma spp., Babesia spp., Eperythrozoon spp. and Theileria spp. The anemia of dairy cattle was more severe than that of Korean native cattle.

Abnormal hematological values are associated with various disorders including cancer and cardiovascular, metabolic, infectious, and immune diseases. We report the copy number variations (CNVs) in clinically relevant hematological parameters, including hemoglobin level, red and white blood cell counts, platelet counts, and red blood cell (RBC) volume. We describe CNVs in several loci associated with these hematological parameters in 8,842 samples from Korean population-based studies. The data that we evaluated included four RBC parameters, one platelet parameter, and one associated with total white blood cell (WBC) count, exceeding the genome-wide significance. We show that CNVs in hematological parameters are associated with some loci, different from previously associated loci reported in single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) association studies.

Investigations for hematologic and biochemical values for Gyeongju DongGyeong dogs were performed. This study were conducted to determine normal blood and serum chemical values on DongGyeong dogs. Normal blood and serum chemical values were studied in 47 healthy dogs (male 28, female 19). The hematologic and serum chemistry results were confirmed by age, sex, shape of tail. The hematological values showed no difference from Korea native dogs. The hematocrit values ($49.0{\pm}8.1$(%)) of DongGyeong dogs (2-3 years group) were significantly higher than other dogs. The mean levels of MCV ($61.6{\pm}3.8({\mu}m^3)$) in DongGyeong dogs were lower than general dogs. The levels of cholesterol($220{\pm}80.5$(mg/dl)) and inorganic phosphorus ($3.6{\pm}1.0$ (mg/dl)) of DongGyeong dogs (2~3 years group) were significantly higher than Korea native dogs. Totally concentration of triglyceride ($66.2{\pm}17.0$ (mg/dl)) of DongGyeong dogs were significantly lower than Korea native dogs. The mean values of BUN were increased with age but no significantly. In conclusion, data obtained from this study may be valuable as a standard for interpretation of the results in hematologic and biochemical analysis of Gyeongju DongGyeong dog populations.
The present study was conducted in order to get the relationship of heartworm, Dirofilaria immitis and eosinophils in blood of Jindo dogs. Blood samples were taken from 141( man 31, womam 110) of yellow, 44 ( man 17, woman27) of white Jindo dogs in Jindo area. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows : 1. There were no significant differences of the hematological values in comparison with others reported values, but the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration and the number of eosinophils were high in comparison with other reported values. 2. The mean values of total white blood cell count(P<0.05), neutrophil(P<0.05) and monocyte(P< 0.05) were that the yellow dogs and a tendency toward fisher values than the white dogs, but no significant differences were observed. 3. Age-related differences were detected for the total erythrocyte count(P<0.05), hemoglobin content (P<0.001), PCV(P<0.001) and the number of eosinophils(P<0.001). 4. The direct and indirect eosinophil counts were increased with age, there were no significant differences of the values between two groups. 5. Dirofilaria immitis was found in 34(18.4%), increased with age and were relatively significant differences in areas of the 185 Jindo dogs. 6. Survey for hematological values of Dirofilaria immitis infected dogs with direct and indirect method, mean values of eosinophil were 2,788/ ${\mu}l,$ 3,021/ ${\mu}$l, respectively. They showed that eosinophil had a tendency toward higher values than others, but others were no significant differences.

This study is illustrated that 1) the effects of DEHP administration on body weight, sex ratio and litter size on 19 days in the prenatal period 2) the effects of reproductive organ weight and blood hematological values on 25 days postpartum in pregnant mice. DEHP was administrated to pregnant mice by intraperitoneal injection at 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 10.0mg/kg B.W from day 1 to day 16 in the gestation period with 5 times at 3 days interval. There were no significantly differences in the material body weight, litter size and sex ratio on 19 days in the prenatal period. The body weight of the fatal male mice was slightly lower in 1.0 and 10.0mg DEHP groups than in any other groups. The reproductive organ weight and hematological values in dam mice on 25 days postpartum were not affected by DEHP administration. The histological evaluation of ovary in dam mice on 25 days after dilivery was not different in all experimental groups, but the endometriosis and edema of uterus in dam mice were significantly decreased in 0.5mg DEHP group than that of control group. These results indicate that the administration of low concentration of DEHP was not affected on reproductive characteristic and blood hematological values in pregnant mice.
