The purpose of this study is to investigate a top floor, indoor, thermal environment by comparison between the indoor air temperature and the rooftop surface temperature, and between the indoor air temperature and the outdoor air temperature using an experimental model. The model experiment was conducted with 4 cases,: no-rainfall, 1 em-height, 10 em-height and 20em-height of rainfall on the rooftop. According to the results of the height of stored rainfall, the average air temperature difference between the indoor and outdoor air with 1, 10 and 20 em-height of rainfall on the rooftop was $4.0^{\circ}C$, rooftop $1.2^{\circ}C$ and rooftop $1.0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The upper 10 em-height of rainfall on the rooftop acted to decrease the indoor air temperature on the top floor.
The purpose of this study was to measure micro-knoop hardness and coefficient of thermal expansion on composite resins (Epolite, Adaptic, Hipol and Compo T.) Four different type of composite resins were measured at the varying depth of 30, 60, 90, 150, 200, 400, 700 and 1000 micron from the surface to deep portion. The specimens were stored both in the air room temperature for 2 days, 30 days and in water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 30 days. Thermal expansions of specimens(4mm in diameter and 50mm in height) were measured in quartz tube dilatometer from $20^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}C$ The following results were obtained. 1. The hardness of superficial portion were lower than inner portion of resin. 2. The value of hardness obtained from the specimen stored in room temperature in the water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 30 days were lower than above described Cases. 3. The coefficient of thermal expansion of Adaptic had $29.75{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$, Hipol had $30{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$, Epolite had $39.85{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ and Compo T had $36.95{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$.
This study was performed to investigate the effects of lotus leaf hot water extracts treatment on the quality and stability of eggs using impregnation treatment through ultrasonication during storage. A total of 480 eggs were categorized into four treatment groups (n=30 each)-non-treated (CON), soaked for 30 min in lotus leaf hot water extracts without ultrasonication (T1), sonicated in distilled water (T2), and sonicated in lotus leaf hot water extracts (T3)-and stored for 15 d at 30℃. The egg weight, Haugh unit (HU), egg grade, albumen height, yolk color, eggshell thickness, eggshell breaking strength, and weight loss were measured for egg quality assessment. 2-Thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) contents were measured as stability indicators. Additionally, total phenolic contents (TPC), total flavonoid contents (TFC), and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity were evaluated. The HU, egg grade, albumen height, and yolk color of T3 were significantly higher than those of CON (p<0.05). No significant differences in eggshell thickness and eggshell breaking strength are observed among the groups. The weight loss of T3 was significantly lower than that of the other groups during storage (p<0.05). The application of lotus leaf hot water extracts also significantly reduced TBARS and VBN (p<0.05). The TPC, TFC, and DPPH radical scavenging activity of T3 were significantly higher than those of the other groups (p<0.05). These results suggest that lotus leaf hot water extracts may be useful as a natural ingredient for improving the quality and stability of eggs during storage.

In this study, criticality safety assessments of the potential for storing transuranic element (TRU) ingots via a pyroprocess were evaluated to determine the appropriate TRU storage design parameters, in this case the ratio of the TRU ingot height to the radius and the number of TRU ingot canisters stacked within a container. Various accident situations were modeled over a modeling period of 5 years for a cumulative inventory of TRU ingots with various water densities in submerged containers and with various pitches between the containers in the facility. Under these combinations, we calculated the threshold of TRU height and radius ratio depending on the number of canisters in a container to keep the stored TRU in a subcritical state. The ratio of the TRU ingot height to radius should not exceed 4.5, 1.1, 0.5, 0.3, and 0.2 for two, three, four, five, and six levels of stacked canisters in a container, respectively.
A reinforced concrete water tank is a typical functional liquid storage structure and cracks are the greatest threat to the liquid storage structure. Tanks are readily cracked due to seismic activity, thereby leading to the leakage of the stored liquid and a loss of function. In order to study the effect of cracks on liquid storage tanks, self-healing and leakage tests for bending cracks and through cracks in the walls of a reinforced concrete water tank were conducted. Material performance tests were also performed. The self-healing performance of bending cracks in a lentic environment and through cracks in a lotic environment were tested, thereby the self-healing width of bending micro-cracks in the lentic environment in the short term were determined. The through cracks had the capacity for self-healing in the lotic environment was found. The leakage characteristics of the bending cracks and through cracks were tested with the actual water head on the crack. The effects on liquid leakage of the width of bending cracks, the depth of the compression zone, and the acting head were determined. The relationships between the leakage rate and time with the height of the water head were analyzed. Based on the tests, the relationships between the crack characteristics and self-healing as well as the leakage were obtained. Thereby the references for water tank structure design and grading earthquake damage were provided.
Recent series of flooding events in urban area has brought a growing concern on storage facilities as a major stormwater management method. The Korean Ministry of Environment has announced diverse plans to tackle the problem, including plans for multi-purpose storages which deal both the stormwater and wastewater. Even though storages can be categorized for different perspectives, classification of possible storages in urban area has not been throughly studied so far. This study investigated diverse references of urban storages and suggested systematic classifications on structural, functional and some other basis. Structural classification mainly concerns structural shape of facilities and includes (1)Cisterns & Rain barrels, (2)Forebays, (3)Dry basins, (4)Wet basins and (5)Constructed wetland. Those functions can be (1)flood prevention (2)water quality control and (3)reuse of stored water. Other criteria that categorize storages depend on (1)height, (2)location, (3)configuration, (4)depth, (5)site of the installation and (6)shape.
This study was conducted to forecast inner water temperature strata change by extracting deep water from a dam. For the methodology, the scope wherein the balance between the volume of low-temperature water intake through the virtual water intake opening as installed within the stored water area and the volume of water intake from the surrounding area is not destroyed was calculated through the CFD simulation technique using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) interpretation method. This study suggested a supplementary method(diffuser) to avoid destroying the water temperature strata, and the effect was reviewed. In case of intake of the same volume, when the velocity of flow of water intake is reduced by increasing the pipe diameter, the destruction of water temperature strata can be minimized. When the area(height) where the intake of water is possible is low, a diffuser for interrupting the vertical direction inflow should be installed to secure favorable water intake conditions in case of water intake on the upper part. This study showed that there was no problem if the intake-enabled, low-temperature area was secured approximately 10m from the bottom when the scope that does not destroy the water temperature strata in case of water intake was forecast using the regression formula.
This test was conducted to determine the appropriate conditions of temperature, storage period, and soil moisture content when using cold storage of potted mother plants of as a means of sufficient dormant breaking and safe overwintering of the strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch. cv. Sulhyang) mother plants. In the treatment by temperature for the dormant breaking of strawberry mother plants, the survival rate of natural overwintering was 91%, whereas the survival rate was 100% at 0, - 2, and - 5℃. As the storage temperature was decreased, the plant height of the mother plants became shorter which tended to decrease after planting. Survival of the mother plants was possible at - 5℃, but after planting, the growth and number of daughter plants decreased significantly. The number of daughter plants was highest at 22.8 per plant at - 2℃ storage. The strawberry mother plants could be stored for up to 8 months in cold storage. However, when the mother plants were stored for a long period, the number of daughter plants was small. When they were stored for 4 months, the growth of the mother plants was vigorous, and the number of runners and daughter plants was high. When the water content of the soil was less than 10 percent (%, w/w) in the cold storage of the pot, the survival rate was 85 percent, which was high due to the dryness. The survival rate was 100 percent at 30 and above, and the growth of the mother plants after planting and the number of daughter plants were high at 30 to 50.
The purpose of this study was to observe shear bond strength of composite resin to dentin following surface treatment. Freshly extracted forty-eight sound human molars were used in this study. They were stored at $4^{\circ}C$ physiologic saline solution before experiment. The teeth was then mounted with self curing acrylic resin in brass mold. The buccal surfaces of the teeth were grinding approximately 1.5mm by means of water-irrigated grinding wheel to expose the flattened fresh dentin surfaces. The specimens were divided into 6 groups according to preparation and treatment procedures on dentin surfaces; Group 1: Untreated after preparation with No.301 diamond point Group 2: Treated with primer for 60 seconds after preparation with No.301 diamond point Group 3: Untreated after preparation with No.700 fissure carbide bur Group 4: Treated with primer for 60 seconds after preparation with No.700 fissure carbide bur Group 5: Untreated after grinding with 600 grit silicon carbide paper Group 6: Treated with primer for 60 seconds after grinding with 600 grit silicon carbide paper Light cure dental adhesive was applicated to each specimen. Silux plus(3M) was inserted then into polyethylene tube of 3mm diameter and 3mm height, and polymerized to dentin surface. All of the specimens were stored in distilled water at $35.6^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours prior to testing. The shear bond strength was measured using an Instron Universal Testing Machine. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. The shear bond strength to dentin was the highest in group II. 2. The shear bond strength to dentin was the lowest in group III. 3. There was no significant difference in shear bond strength to dentin according to preparation instrument. 4. The primer treatment group showed significantly greater shear bond strength than untreated group.
In cargo vessels, hatch covers are used to prevent sea water from penetrating into the cargo hold and to keep the vessels buoyant. And also they can be used as cargo loading devices as in container ships. In this paper, hatch covers are classified according to their operation method and their characteristics are briefly demonstrated. Systematic description on the scantling of the hatch cover panel and how to determine the capacity of the hydraulic power system fir folding hatch cover panels are also presented. The hydraulic power system is selected from the result of dynamic analysis of the movements of the hatch cover panels when stored on the upper deck. The hatch coaming height is determined as shortly as the hydraulic cylinders can be installed. This study deals with the hatch cover system of the medium sized multi-purpose cargo vessel, but the results of this study can be applied to large-sized cargo vessels with a slight change of the input data in the calculations. Further research on the high pressure pump, hydraulic cleating system and hydraulic piping will realize domestic production of the whole hatch cover system which have been supplied from foreign makers until now
