Rapid mold heating has been recent issue to enable the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. Induction heating is an efficient way to heat a conductive workpiece by means of high-frequency electric current caused by electromagnetic induction. Because the induction heating is a convenient and efficient way of indirect heating, it has various applications such as heat treatment, brazing, welding, melting, and mold heating. The present study covers an experimental investigation on the rapid heating using the induction heating and rapid cooling using a vortex tube in order to eliminate an excessive cycle time increase. Experiments are performed in the case of a steel cup mold core with various heating and cooling conditions. Temperature is measured during heating and cooling time, from which appropriate mold heating and cooling conditions can be obtained.
The effect heat treatment (autoclave) on nutritional value of winged bean as compared to soybean has been investigated. The winged bean and soybean were obtained from local cultivar grown in Indonesia. The beans were autoclaved at $120^{\circ}C$ for 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, respectively before being ground for chemical analysis. Trypsin inhibitors of winged bean and soybean decreased (p < 0.05) along with decreasing of urease activity as heating time increased from 0 to 90 minutes. Heat treatment significantly (p < 0.05) reduced protein solubility in 0.2% potassium hydroxide of winged bean as well as soybean. In vitro protein digestibility was significantly (p < 0.05) improved by heating treatment (15 to 60 min of autoclaving), however, excessive heating (90 min of autoclaving) decreased the digestibility of winged beans. Excessive heating had adverse effect on lysine, cystine and methionine contents of winged beans. The results of this study suggested that autoclaving at $120^{\circ}C$ within 45 minutes should be adequate to remove protease inhibitors and could improve protein digestibility of winged beans.
In this study, various pre-treatment methods were evaluated for microalgae separation. These methods aimed to facilitate safe, rapid, and cost-effective online imaging for real-time observation and cell counting. As pre-treatment techniques, heating, chemical hydrolysis, heating combined with chemical hydrolysis, and sonication were employed. The effectiveness of these methods was evaluated in the context of online imaging quality through experimentation on cultivated microalgae (Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda). The chemical treatment method was found to be inappropriate for improving image acquisition. The heating pre-treatment method exhibited a drawback of prolonged cell dispersion time. Additionally, the heating combined with chemical hydrolysis method was confirmed to have the lowest dispersion effect for Chlorella vulgaris. Conversely, ultrasonication emerged as a promising technique for microalgae separation in terms of repeatability and reproducibility. This study suggests the potential for selecting optimal pre-treatment methods to effectively operate real-time online monitoring devices, paving the way for future research and applications in microalgae cultivation and imaging.
Most technologies of reduction process used in the heat treatment of existent metal products are related to metals applied to bolts and parts of automobiles, and nonmetal such as copper. Heating conditions and reduction gases produced in above processes depend on types of products to be treated thermally but heating systems employ electricity commonly and the reduction gases are separated into additional production equipment and a gas dryer and inefficiently provided into the system. Electrical heating system has the advantage of convenient temperature-control but is not economical because of disadvantages of high electricity-running cost and extra installation cost of a transformer. Accordingly, development of the system which has economical heating mode in which provision of reduction gas and heating conditions are unified is necessary for improvement of economy and efficiency in current reduction processes. This study aimed to develop a new advanced heat treatment furnace using catalytic combustion. thereby minimizing the cost during heating, supplying heat and reductive gas at the same time and controlling operating condition freely by changing electrical heating system to heating system by the gas combustion and regeneration of wasted heat.
Al-Si coated boron steel has been widely used as commercial hot stamping steel. When the steel is heated at 900~930℃ for 5 min in an electric furnace, thickness of the coating layer increases as a consequence of formation of intermetallic compounds and diffusion layer. The diffusion layer plays an important roll in blunting the propagation of crack from coating layer to base steel. Change in microstructure and coating layer of Al-Si coated boron steel after conductive heating with higher heating rate than electric furnace has been investigated in this study. Conductive-heated steel showed the martensitic structure with vickers hardness of 505~567. Both intermetallic compounds in coating layer and diffusion layer were not observed in conductive-heated steel due to rapid heating. It has been found that the conductive-heating consisting of rapid heating to 550℃ which is lower than melting point of Al-Si coating layer, slower heating to 900℃, and then 1 min holding at 900℃ is effective in forming intermetallic compound in coating layer and diffusion layer.

Recent development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment enables interventional radiology (IVR) as diagnosis and treatment under MRI usage. In this paper, a new methodology for magnetic resonance (MR) scanner to apply not only diagnostic equipment but for treatment one is discussed. The temperature measuring procedure under MR is to measure phase shift of $T_1$, which is the longitudinal relaxation time of proton, for the position inside a sample material with the application of pulsed RF for heating inside the sample as artificial dielectrics. The result shows the possibility to apply MR as temperature measuring equipment and as a heating equipment for applying such as hyperthermia heating modality.
This study was conducted to observe the removal efficiency of oil-contaminated soil by various tests using microwaves and high-temperature heating elements. The water content was measured with the treatment amount, which was lowered to 300g in a relatively short amount of time. The treatment rate of TPH(Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) showed the highest value with 70.1% when the SiC-activated carbon heating element was at 4 kW/kg, compared to the SiC heating element used alone. In particular, the higher electric power became, the higher treatment rate became, except at 3 kW. In the case of the heating element made by the fusion of SiC and activated carbon, the internal temperature exceeded $300^{\circ}C$ and again fell when it was treated at 4 kW for about 2 minutes. Then, after about 8 minutes, it rose again. On the basis of such results, the energy content necessary for the sample was calculated according to the electric power of microwaves, and tthe constant of TPH treatment was measured by tests on the treatment characteristics of oil-contaminated soil.

The chemical forms of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn were analysed by sequential extraction technique to evaluate the effects of drying and heating of dredged sediments from Lake Chungcho. The most abundant fraction of Cd, Cu, and Zn in the wet and untreated sediment was organic/sulfidic fraction that is state in reducing environment such as the bottom condition of Lake Chungcho, while Pb dominated in residual fraction. This means that the source of Cd, Cu, and Zn in the Chungcho lake sediment is related to the organic degradation and Pb to the erosion from surrounding rocks. With drying and oxidation by dredging, heating treatment, and disposal of the lake sediment, the chemical forms of studied metals changed greatly from organic/sulfidic fraction to adsorbed and reducible fractions which are more labile in oxygenated environment. Organic/sulfidic fraction of Cd, Cu and Pb in the wet sediment was transformed with drying and heating treatments to the labile ones like adsorbed and reducible fraction, but Zn to carbonate and reducible fraction. Heating of the sediment at $320^{\circ}C$ greatly increased the labile fraction of Cd and Cu, while that at $105^{\circ}C$ for Pb and Zn. It is believed that the increase in labile forms of heavy metals in the sediments by drying and heating is caused by the contact with oxygen during drying and heating and by the increase of pH of the pore water at the expense of organic/sulfidic fraction. It is concluded that the drying and oxidation currently used in the treatment of dredged sediment can increase labile forms of heavy metals in the sediment, and the potential of the metal availability from the sediment.
In order to clarify the availability of heat treatment for catechu dyeing, effect of color developing by heating process on cotton fabrics dyed with catechu extract was investigated. Dyed fabrics were heated various time(min) at $150^{\circ}C$. The cases of non-mordanting and mordanting were compared, and examined the effect of sodium acetate as an agent to promote the color developing to fabrics. Experiments with after-mordanting method showed that various colors can be obtained using catechu. K/S values of dyed fabrics with Al, Cu, Fe mordant were higher than the case of no mordant. The fabric by Cu mordanting showed 3 times to the case of no mordant. Fabrics dyed with catechu by mordanting lowered $L^*$ value while there was little change in $a^*$, $b^*$ value as the heating process progressed. Therefore, K/S values were increased due to heating process. The effects of adding sodium acetate in dyeing bath on dyed fabrics were shown higher K/S values, and the $L^*$ values were lower than those without sodium acetate according to heating time increase. The result show sodium acetate had a promoting effect on the color developing to the fabrics by heating process, it was very effective.
