고/액 계면에서의 Peltier 열 측정 및 결정성장에의 응용 II : 측정과 응용 (Measurement of Peltier Heat at the Solid/Liquid Interface and Its Application to Crystal Growth II : Measurement and Application)

  • $\textrm{Bi}_{2}\textrm{Te}_{3}$의 고/액 계면을 통하여 전류밀도와 방향을 달리 하면서 통전시켰을 때 발생하는 고상, 액상 및 고/액 계면에서의 미소 온도변화를 측정하였다. 이 냉각(가열) 효과는 전류밀도, 통전방향 및 시간에 따라 다르게 나타났으며, 온도변화에 미치는 Peltier 열, Thomson 열 및 Joule 열의 영향을 이론 및 실험에 의해 각각 분류하였다. $\textrm{Bi}_{2}\textrm{Te}_{3}$의 고/액상간의 Peltier 계수는 -1.10$\times\textrm{10}^{-1}$V이었으며, 고상과 액상의 Thomson 계수는 각각 7.31\times\textrm{10}^{-4}V/K와 5.77\times\textrm{10}^{-5}V/K이었다. 직류를 통전하면서 Bi$_2$Te$_3$결정을 성장한 결과, 고상에서 액상으로 통전한 경우, Peltier 냉각에 의한 온도구배의 상승으로 방향성이 향상된 결정을 얻을 수 있었지만, 전류의 방향을 반대로 하면, 결정성 향상에 별 도움을 주지 못하였다.

초고온용 발열체 (Mo1-xWx)Si2의 산화거동에 대한 연구 (Oxidation behavior of (Mo1-xWx)Si2 high-temperature heating elements)

  • SHS 법으로 MoSi2 분말, (Mo1/2W1/2)Si2 분말 및 WSi2 분말을 합성하고 이 분말들을 500℃, 1,000℃, 1,200℃, 1,300℃, 1,400℃, 1,500℃ 및 1,600℃에서 열처리한 다음, 결정구조 및 열중량 변화 등을 관찰하였다. Mo-W-Si계의 silicide 분말은 500℃의 저온에서도 산화 반응이 일어나며, 저온 산화 및 분해로 생성되는 결정상은 MoO3이었다. 1,200℃ 이상에서 열처리를 한 경우에 분해반응으로 생성된 SiO2의 결정상은 상온에서 흔히 관찰되는 α-quartz가 아닌 α-cristobalite 상으로 생성되었다. W이 포함되면 저온과 고온에서 분해 반응이 더 많이 일어나는 것으로 나타났으며, 분말을 성형하여 소결한 시편의 경우에 MoSi2와 (Mo1/2W1/2)Si2는 저온이나 고온에서 1시간 열처리를 하더라도 저온산화에 의한 분해와 그에 따른 질량 변화 반응을 관찰하기 어려웠지만 WSi2는 저온 산화에 의하여 소결 자체가 어려웠다.

  • 최근 건축물의 기초는 구조체의 안정성과 연관하여 두꺼운 매스콘크리트 형태가 설계되어지고 있다. 그런데, 이와 같은 매트 매스콘크리트는 800mm 이상의 두꺼운 부재로 설계되는 경우가 많아짐에 따라 수화열에 의한 균열이 문제점으로 제기 되고 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 상 하부를 구분하여 타설하는 실무조건을 고려하여, 컴퓨터 프로그램상으로 하부와 상부의 최적치를 도출한 다음, 실구조체에 적용 해석치와 실측치간을 비교하므로서 효율적인 수화열균열 저감방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 상 하부 타설 콘크리트간의 저발열 배합정도를 고려한 수화발열량차 적용은 침하균열 방지 및 수화열 균열제어에 효과적인 것으로 밝혀졌다.

  • 형상기억합금은 지능형 재료와 구조물에 널리 쓰인다. 큰 힘과 변위를 발생시키는 것이 특징이며 작동기, 소음 및 진동감쇠, 동역학적 튜닝, 형상의 변형 제어 등의 다양한 분야에 응용될 수 있다. 본 논문에 서는 형상기억합금튜브와 초탄성 스프링으로 구성된 형상기억합금 비틀림 작동기를 제안하였고 각각의 거동 특성을 알아보았다. 열전달 해석을 통해 저항열과 히터의 열을 동시에 형상기억합금튜브에 가하면 작동기의 성능을 더 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. 접촉 해석으로는 실제 작동기의 거동을 시뮬레이션하였고 정상적으로 작동함을 알 수 있었다. 3 차원 형상기억합금의 거동을 표현하기 위해 비선형 구성방정식을 유한요소 법으로 풀고 ABAQUS 의 U-MAT 기능을 이용하여 비선형 해석을 수행하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the state of Goryoin housing in Uzbekistan and Korea. Using ethnographic methodologies, it was examined that 20 Goryoin households in Korea in relation to their usage of housing space firstly and also tried 20 Goryoin households in Uzbekistan with the same method. The following conclusion were established; 1). The majority of households in both areas preferred separated kitchen and living room areas. 2). Most households in both areas had a washing machine in bathroom and they regarded bathtub and the drain hole of the bathroom as very necessary. They all preferred separate bathroom and toilet areas in order to allow simultaneous use. 3). Their preferred seating style was chairs on sleeping and eating especially but they treated large family and guest without chairs in both areas. 4). All of them were took their shoes off and wore slippers at home usually and also had a preference for designated shoes space at the entrance to the house. 5) All of households in Uzbekistan and half of them in Korea had a carpet or mat in the bedroom or living room, both for keeping warm and aesthetic reasons. 6). The heating system of apartment in Uzbekistan was radiator and most of private houses had a modified Ondol with radiator but their preferred heating system was modified Ondol in both areas. 7). They all considered the living room as the most important housing space for family and guest in both areas.

소실모형 주조법에서 도형제가 오스테나이트 스테인레스강 주물의 표면층조직에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Coating Materials on Surface Layer Structures of Austenitic Stainless Steel Castings in Evaporative Pattern Process)

  • Austenitic stainless steel castings using expandable polystylene(referred to hereafter as EPS) patterns are often affected by distinctive defects associated with incomplete decomposition of the EPS as the molds are filled with metal. The quality of the castings, with particular reference to carbon pick-up in austenitic stainless steel is further influenced to a significant extent by such factors as reduced pressure, the additive by adding $Na_2CO_3$ in coating. The steel composition and microstructure were examined at the surface layer of castings, at depths of 1mm, by taking successive layers of swarf and analysis. In experiments, the carburizing atmosphere was neutralized, showing that the coating performed efficiently by decomposing almost instantly on heating and liberating $CO_2$. The upper parts of castings obtained using EPS patterns were slightly higher in carbon pick-up than other parts. Comparing the 316L and 304 stainless steel castings, qualitative and quantative differences could be found between the carbon pick-up behaviours as influence of the carbon content and alloying elements. Carbide former such as Cr makes carbon more soluble in the steel. This must make carbon pick-up in the surface layer but at the same time richer in carbon especially in the 304 stainless steel castings.

PDMS를 이용한 마이크로 구동기의 제작 및 평가 (Detection of Tool Failure by Wavelet Transform)

  • In this study, we propose and develop PDMS-based modular actuators. The microactuator which looks like a small insect uses thermal expansion power of the PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane; $sylgar^{(R)}$ 184 silicone elastomer). The PDMS-based microactuator provides a large displacement due to a high thermal expansion coefficient (approximately 310ppm). The microacruator with 1mm length $350{\mu}m$ width is optimized by using a numerical analysis. The shape of the PDMS actuatoris variously designed. They are placed at several positions to find the optimal position that provides a high transformation ratio. The PDMS-based microactuators are fabricated using a conventional micromaching technique. The fabricated microactuator is heated using a hot-plate. The actuator displacement is measured as a function of temperature from $27^{\circ}C$ to $300^{\circ}C$. The experimental results are compared to the simulation result. When heating temperature up to $300^{\circ}C$ is applied to the PDMS actuator, each V-groove-shaped joint is actuated $30{\mu}$ mat $300^{\circ}C$. Anotherdesign of the microactuator has a maximum displacement of about 656mm.

MTV를 적용한 아스팔트 포설에서 열분리 저감 효과 (Effect of Thermal Segregation Reduction in Asphalt Paving with MTV)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate of the effect of thermal segregation reduction in asphalt paving using material transfer vehicles (MTVs). METHODS : Asphalt paving using MTVs was carried out, and the paved surface temperature was measured using an infrared camera. The amount of thermal segregation was estimated from temperature variations. RESULTS : The transportation of hot mix asphalt (HMA) using dump trucks caused temperature segregation that persisted in the paving surface if an MTV was not used. The average temperature variation was 8.58% in paved surfaces where an MTV was not used. However, the temperature variation was 3.10%, 2.86%, and 4.53% for the base layer, inter-layer, and surface layer, respectively, when an MTV was used. CONCLUSIONS : The use of an MTV in asphalt paving reduces thermal segregation approximately 2.3 times in an asphalt mat via a remixing process and also allows for a smoother work process because the paver never needs to stop to receive HMA. However, MTV equipment without pre-heating devices requires careful temperature control during the warm up process at the MTV during construction in the winter.

  • In this research, considering the practical conditions at field, thermal cracking method was suggested based on the comparative analysis between predicted value and actual value obtained from the actual structure member with optimum mix design. The optimum mix design was deduced from the various mix designs with various proportions of cementitious binder for upper and lower placement lifts of mat-foundation mass concrete. Therefore, it can be stated that applying low heat mix design and different heating technique between upper and lower placement lifts for mass concrete are efficient to control the thermal cracking. As future issues, based on the interpretation result value, we will select the optimal combination that is applied specifically to the actual site, and deeply analyze the correlation between the measured value and the analysis value through the combination and the test of the actual structure.

In-situ Observation of Hydride Stability of Vanadium Alloys in Electron Microscope

  • High-resolution microscopy was applied for surveying hydride stability in Vanadium alloys, which are candidate for hydrogen storage materials of advanced hydrogen energy systems. $V_2H$ hydride in V alloys was stable at room temperature under the vacuum condition, but it was decomposed during heating up to $100^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed from HRTEM image and FFT that $V_2H$ has a BCT structure, where hydrogen atoms locate at octahedral sites. Crystal orientation was <110> beta// <110> mat., and lattice strain is about 10%. After the decomposition of the hydride, relatively large lattice expansion was observed in the matrix, which suggests that hydrogen atoms should be trapped by lattice defects and included in the matrix. Intensive electron beam also enhanced the decomposition.
