Technical Obstacles to Suftla Flexible Microelectronics

  • Three technical obstacles must be overcome to build a fruitful business in the nascent industry of flexible microelectronics: the self-heating effect of thin film transistors (TFTs), the thermal and mechanical durability of flexible devices, and the cost issue. The self-heating effect is controlled through TFT shape, TFT electrical performance, dimensional reduction and energy-efficient circuits. Plastic engineering is one of the keys to solving thermal and mechanical durability problems faced by flexible microelectronics devices. For the Suftla flexible microelectronics business to be viable, Suftla transfer yield must be sufficiently high to keep down device cost. Improving the transfer yield is not easy, but it is the same challenge already faced and cleared in the TFT liquid crystal display industry.

알코올 흡수식 열펌프의 난방성능 예측 (Simulation of Alcohol Absorption Heat Pumps for Heating Performance)

  • Single-effect $CH_3OH-LiI-ZnBr_2$ and $C_2H_5OH-LiI$ absorption heat pumps are simulated to evaluate feasibility as heating device. These systems are predicted to give higher heating COPs in wide operating ranges compared to conventional systems. Among the two systems, the $C_2H_5OH-LiI$ system is found to be more advantageous for operating in extremely cold weather due to the large solubility of Lil in $C_2H_5OH$.

  • The injection molding process has high accuracy and good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes typically use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in the nano injection molding processes, this semi-active mold temperature control results in the several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing, etc. In order to actively control temperature of the molds and effectively improve the quality of the molded products, the novel nano injection molding system, which uses active heating and cooling method, has been introduced. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be controlled dramatically and the quality of the molded patterns can be improved.

  • This paper has been studied the parallel resonant inverter which controlling the constant power and tracking the load resonant frequency with PLL is possible, in order to minimize switching losses. The current-fed full-bridge type parallel resonant inverter of an induction heating system was composed of IGBT in switching device. For regulating the output power of an induction heating system, the Fuzzy controller is used. The Fuzzy controller makes the control signal for a stable power regulating control and when reference is changed, it is superior to adaptability. It has been evaluated a stable behavior for a noise with switching and a load disturbance.

  • Non-explosive shockless holding and release mechanism for a nano class small satellite application has been proposed and investigated. The great advantages of the mechanism are a much lower shock level and larger constraint force than the conventional mechanism using pyro and the heating wire cutting mechanism which has been generally applied to the cube satellite program. To investigate the effectiveness of the mechanism design, EM mechanism was developed and tested to verify the basic function of the mechanism. The test results indicate that the proposed mechanism is well functioning as the mechanism design intends.

ASCENT THERMAL ANALYSIS OF FAIRING OF SPACE LAUNCH VEHICLE

  • The fairing of the launch vehicles has a role of protecting the spacecraft from outer thermal, acoustical, and mechanical loads during flight. Among them, the thermal load is analyzed in the present study. The ascent thermal analyses include aerodynamic heating rate on every point of the fairing, heat transfer through the fairing and spacecraft, and the final temperature during ascent flight phase. A design code based on theoretical/experimental database is applied to calculate the aerodynamic heating rate, and a thermal math program, SINDA/Fluint, is considered for conductive heat transfer of the fairing. The results show that the present design satisfies the allowing temperature of the structure. Another important thermal problem, pyro explosive fairing separation device, is calculated because the pyro system is very sensitive to the temperature. The results also satisfies the pyro thermal condition.

  • 본 논문에서는 Induction Heating(IH) 시스템에서 WBG 소자인 SiC MOSFET과 GaN Transistor의 Performance 비교를 통해서 소자의 적합성을 분석한다. SiC 및 GaN 소자를 직렬 공진형 컨버터로 구성된 IH 시스템에 적용하여 온도, 전압, 전류, Gate 저항 등을 고려한 도통 손실, 스위칭 손실, 역방향 도통 손실과 열 해석 프로그램을 통한 열 성능 등의 비교가 수행되며, 이를 통해 소자 적합성이 분석된다. 각 소자에 따른 IH 시스템에 대한 시뮬레이션을 수행하여, 이론적 손실 비교를 통한 소자 적합성 분석에 대한 타당성을 검증한다.

  • Considering the present development situation of rental apartment since 1982, the supply of rental housing for low-income dwellers has contributed a amount of quantities, but has been deficient qualities in housing policy. To propose the device of remodeling for low-income dwellers in deteriorated apartment, this study investigated the characteristics of maintenance cost and the residents'consciousness of remodeling by rental apartment types. The results of this study were as follows; The annual maintenance cost of permanent rental apartment was 14,249 won/$\textrm{m}^2$$.$yr, that of fifty years period rental apartment was 13,372 won/$\textrm{m}^2$$.$yr. In the case of remodeling in deteriorated heating system, the principal decision factor of choice was showed “economics” as priority. Residents in rental apartment preferred remodeling to reconstruction, and unit heating system to central heating system.

심야용 축열식 전기온풍기의 화재 위험성에 관한 연구 (A study on Fire Hazard of Electric Radiant Heating Systems with Thermal Storage Using Off-peak Electricity)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the fire danger of the electric radiant heating system and check the way how to use it and the problems that could be possible through a actual case. We carry out an experiment to identify the possibility of the fire in the similar condition of the actual fire case. The results of this study are as follows. It is a possible condition to fire if the air blast of the electric radiant heating system is blocked by some combustible materials such as plastic bags continuously. A temperature sensor and a residual current device are necessary to disconnect the power source. It is also necessary to attach a notice in front of the electric radiant hearing system that shows users the fire danger to forbid the possible fire. Fires could be happened by internal defects of the electronic products. However, we can also find many external reasons to happen fires. Therefore, we need to check all reasons to make fires in the scene of a fire.

접이식 차양장치에 관한 이론적 연구 (A Theoretical Study on a Folding Shading Device)

  • The majority of fixed shading devices are installed in the exterior of a building in order to dissipate the heat absorbing from the sun and to prevent the direct sunlight. In designing external shading devices for windows, many requirements must be considered simultaneously; solar geometry, optimum energy performance, multi-purpose usage and design factors etc.. In order Lo satisfy these requirements, we suggests the folding shading device and its optimum design methodology. Also we analyzed the thermal performance using the IES_VE program according to various operating modes and compared with existing shading devices. The results show that proposed device reduce about $1.90{\sim}22.40%$ in cooling load and about $1.09{\sim}24.22%$ in heating load in comparison with existing ones.
