The momentum flux and the sensible heat flux were measured with the scintillometers and ultrasonic anemometers at 6 sites of which surface characteristics like roughness length and zero-displacement are different each other. We estimated the momentum flux and the sensible heat flux based on the bulk transfer method with the drag coefficient and the heat transfer coefficient calculated from the temperature and wind speed at two heights. The variation of bulk transfer coefficients showed a remarkable difference depending on the atmospheric stability which is less influenced by the zero-displacement than the roughness length. The estimated sensible heat fluxes were in good agreement with those measured at 3 m, showing 23.7 $Wm^{-2}$ of the root mean square error that is less than 10% of its maximum. Since the estimated momentum flux is not only effected by drag coefficient but also by wind speed square, the determination of wind speed in the bulk transfer method is critical.
This study investigates the characteristics of turbulent fluxes observed at Ieodo Ocean Research Station (IORS) in autumn 2014. The 10 Hz IORS data is quality controlled and calculated to be the 30 minutes turbulent fluxes. The quality control consists of five steps: a weather check, Vickers and Mahrt (VM) sequential check, VM parallel check, flag check, and direction check. Since the IORS is an open-sea station with no orographic influence, there are no significant diurnal variations for the turbulent fluxes and 10 m wind speed. According to stabilities, the unstable and semi-unstable states appear more than 28% and 70% in autumn, respectively and they have strong winds of over $10m\;s^{-1}$. In addition, the turbulent fluxes increase with increasing wind speed. In particular, the latent heat flux and its deviations are clearly shown because the latent heat flux is influenced by the change of both the sea surface roughness and wave height induced by the wind. To demonstrate the changes of the turbulent fluxes before and after typhoon, Vongpong (1419), which is the most intense typhoon affecting the Korean Peninsula in 2014, is considered. The turbulent flux fluctuates in accordance with the location of Vongpong. The turbulent fluxes have a large (small) variation when Vongpong approaches (retreats) at the IORS. The overall results represent that the IORS data helps us understand physical processes related to air-sea interaction by providing the valuable and reliable observed data.

An experimental investigation was performed to study flow boiling heat transfer of deionized water in a microchannel. Measurement and evaluation of boiling heat transfer coefficients were carried out using a single horizontal rectangular microchannel having a hydraulic diameter of $100{\mu}m$. Tests were performed for mass fluxes of 90, 169 and 267 $kg/m^2$s and heat fluxes of 200-700 $kW/m^2$. Test results showed that the measured boiling heat transfer coefficients had no dependence on mass flux and vapor quality. Most macro-channel correlations of boiling heat transfer coefficient did not provide reliable predictions.
Measured radiative heat fluxes on the furnace exit plane of a heavy duty power boiler of steam output 1650 T/h are discussed. A high-ash pulverized bituminous coal was used. Such measurements are necessary to improve heat fluxes inside a steam boiler furnace was manufactured. An extra small heat radiation sensor was placed in the water cooled head of the probe. The sensor had no direct contact with furnace gases and measured only the radiant energy. There was no exposure to convective heat transfer. With the radiometric probe, one can obtain a spherical indicatrix of radiation intensity as well as hemispherical radiative heat flux incident on any surface passing through a measuring point inside the furnace. Thus, the quantity of radiation energy, passing through the furnace exit plane, to the convective heating surfaces and the quantity of radiation energy going in the opposite direction were measured. A formula for relative radiative heat flux on the furnace exit plane has been proposed.

This paper is a study on the model of simultaneous heat and mass transfer process in the absorption of refrigerant vapor into a lithium bromide solution of water-cooled vertical plate absorber. The model can predict temperature and concentration profiles as well as the effect of Reynolds number on them. Also. the variations of the absorption heat and mass fluxes. and the heat and mass transfer coefficients have been investigated. The numerical result shows that the interface temperature and concentration decrease as film Reynolds number does. The absorption heat and mass fluxes, and the heat and mass transfer coefficients get their maximum values adjacent to the inlet solution. Analyses on a constant wall temperature condition have been also carried out to exam the reliability of the present numerical method by comparing to previous investigations.
The heat transfer characteristics of refrigerant-oil mixture for horizontal in-tube evaporator have been investigated experimentally. A smooth copper tube and a micro-fin tube with nominal 9.5 mm outer diameter and 1500 mm length were tested. For the pure refrigerant flow, the dependence of the axial heat transfer coefficient on quality was weak in the smooth tube, but in the micro-fin tube, the coefficients were 3 to 10 times greater as quality increases. Oil addition to pure refrigerant in the smooth tube altered the flow pattern dramatically at low mass fluxes, with a resultant enhancement of the wetting area by vigorous foaming. The heat transfer coefficients of the mixture for low and medium qualities were increased at low mass fluxes. In the micro-fin tube, however, the addition of oil deteriorates the local heat transfer performance for most of the quality range, except for low quality. The micro-fin tube consequently loses its advantage of high heat transfer performance for an oil fraction of 5%. Results are presented as plots of local heat transfer coefficient versus quality.
This paper performed experimental research in order to measure boiling heat transfer coefficient of water in microchannel with hydraulic diameter of $500{\mu}m$. Tests were conducted within the ranges of heat fluxes from 100 to 400 kW/$m^2$, vapor qualities from 0 to 0.2, and mass fluxes of 200, 400, and 600 kg/$m^2s$. From the experimental results, it was found that flow boiling heat transfer coefficient is not dependent on mass flux or vapor quality, but instead on heat flux to a certain degree. The measured data of heat transfer are compared to a few available correlations proposed for mini-channels. Among them, Sun and Mishima's correlation is found to predict the present data well, within the mean absolute error of 17.84%.
Evaportranspiration is an important factor in hydrology cycle. Traditionally, it is measured by using basin or empirical formula with meteorology data, while it does not represent the evaportranspiration over a regional area. With the advent of improved remote sensing technology, it becomes a surface parameter of research interest in the field of remote sensing. Airborne and satellite imagery are utilized in this study. The high resolution airborne images include visible, near infrared, and thermal infrared bands and the satellite images are acquired by MODIS. Surface heat fluxes such as latent heat flux and sensible heat flux are estimate by using airborne and satellite images with surface meteorological measurements. We develop a new method to estimate the evaportranspiration over the rice paddy. The surface heat fluxes are initialized with a surface energy balance concept and iterated for convergent solution with atmospheric correct functions associated with aerodynamic resistance of heat transport. Furthermore, we redistribute the total net energy into sensible heat and latent heat fluxes. The result reveals that radiation and evaporation controlled extremes can be properly decided with both airborne and satellite images. The correlation coefficient of latent heat flux and sensible heat flux with corresponding in situ observations are 0.66 and 0.76, respectively. The relative root mean squared errors (RMSEs) for latent heat flux and sensible heat flux are 97.81 $(W/m^2)$ and 124.33 $(W/m^2)$, respectively. It is also shown that the newly developed retrieval scheme performs well when it is tested by using MODIS date.

In this work, nucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficients(HTCs) of pure water are measured on horizontal 26 fpi low fin, Turbo-B and Thermoexcel-E square surfaces of 9.53 mm length. HTCs are taken from 10 $kW/m^2$ to critical heat flux for all surfaces. Test results show that critical heat fluxes(CHFs) of all enhanced surfaces are greatly improved as compared to that of a plain surface. CHFs of water on the 26 fpi low fin surface, Thermoexcel-E surface, and Turbo-B are increased up to 320%, 275%, and 150% as compared to that of the plain surface, respectively. CHF of the Turbo-B enhanced surface is lower than that of the 26 fpi low fin surface due to the surface geometry. The heat transfer enhancement ratios of the Thermoexcel-E surface, low fin surface and Turbo-B enhanced surface are 1.6~2.9, 1.6~2.1, 1.4~1.7 respectively in the range of heat fluxes tested. Judging from these results, it can be said that these types of enhanced surfaces can be used in heat transfer applications at high heat fluxes.

In the coastal wetland the mud is consist of fine particles, which means that it is characterized by small gap, and heat transfer is obstructed since moisture is found between the gaps. The relationship between net radiation ($R_N$) and soil heat flux($H_G$) shows a counterclockwise hysteresis cycle, which refer to a time lag behind in the maximal soil heat fluxes. The albedo is independent of seasonal variation of the vegetation canopy which plays very important roles to store and control the heat in the atmospheric surface layer.
