Processing and equipment were tailored for engineering scale fabrication of $UO_2$ porous pellets, a feed material for the electrolytic reduction process in the PRIDE (PyRoprocessing Integrated DEmonstration) facility at KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). The starting materials, $UO_2$ powder and pre-milled surrogate oxide powders, were proportioned to simulate the chemical composition of spent fuel (so-called Simfuel). The Simfuel powders were homogenized by mixing, compacted into a pellet shape, and finally heat treated using a tumbling mixer, rotary press, and sintering furnace. After sintering at $1450^{\circ}C$ for 24 h in $4%\;H_2-Ar$, the average bulk density of the $UO_2$ Simfuel pellets was $6.89g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, which meets the standard of the following electrolytic reduction process. In addition, the results of a microstructural analysis demonstrated that the sintered Simfuel $UO_2$ porous pellets accurately simulate the properties of spent fuel in terms of the formation of second phases. These results provide essential information for the massive fabrication of $UO_2$ porous pellets for engineering scale pyroprocessing research.

A turbocharger is an engine supercharger that is driven by exhaust gas. It improves the output and fuel efficiency by increasing the charging efficiency of the mixture gas, which is achieved by changing the rotatory power of the turbine connected to the exhaust passage. It is important to control the supercharging for this purpose. A nozzle slide joint is one of the core parts. Austenitic stainless steel is currently used as the material for this part, and its excellent mechanical properties include high heat resistance and corrosion resistance. However, because of its poor machinability, there are many difficulties in producing products with complicated shapes. Machining is used in the production of nozzle slide joints for high dimensional accuracy after metal powder injection molding. As design variables in this study, we investigated the sintering temperature, product stress, deformation rate, radius of curvature of the punch, and angle of the chamfer punch, which are related to the strain and shapes. The goal is to suggest a forming process using Nitronic 60 that does not require machining to manufacture a nozzle slide joint for a turbocharger. Accordingly, we determined the best process environment using finite-element analysis, the signal-noise ratio, and the Taguchi method for experiment design. The relative density and hydrostatic pressure of the final product were in accordance with the results of the finite element analysis. Therefore, we conclude that the Taguchi method can be applied to the design process of metal powder injection molding.
The purpose of this research is to develop thin film materials and fabrication process for efficient $TiO_2$/CdTe solar cells. In this work photocatalyst titanium dioxide was prepared by sol-gel procedure according to reaction condition, the mole ratio of $H_2O$/TTIP, pH of solution and aging condition of powder. The prepared titanium dioxide was thermally treated from 300 to $750^{\circ}C$. Maximum intensity of anatase phase of titanium dioxide was achieved by calcination at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. And it was mixture of anatase and rutile phase when temperature of calcination was $750^{\circ}C$. It has been known that the properties of synthesized titanium dioxide according to aging time and calcination temperature was converted to anatase phase crystal on increasing of aging time. Also the current density has been increased with aging time and temperature, the efficiency has been increased with because of reason on above results. The formation of chemical bonding on oxygen and cadmium telluride under oxygen circumstances had been observed, and oxygen of thin film surface on cadmium telluride had been decreased with the treatment of chromate and hydrazine. As results had been shown that the energy conversion efficiency of cadmium telluride use by rapidly treatmented heat at the condition of $550^{\circ}C$ under air circumstance got 12.0%, 6.0% values according to $0.07cm^2$, $1.0cm^2$ surface area, respectively.

These studies were carried out (1) to investigate the growth characteristics of Sedum album L. in the field, (2) to propose a suitable shallow peen roof system for this plant, and (3) to evaluate plant growth in the proposed system over the long term. The growth characteristics, such as morphological properties, growth habit, shade tolerance, and flowering, were surveyed. In experimental shallow green-roof systems, the effects of drainage type, substrate type, and soil depth on plant growth were investigated. Then drought tolerance was investigated. After planting Sedum album L. in the proposed system survival rate, cover, and resistance to insects, heal and cold were evaluated for about 2 years. The results of these studies are summarized below. 1. In the field, the aboveground part of Sedum album L. did not die back during the winter. Plant height was 4$\sim$7 cm. Roots were distributed to a depth of 5$\sim$7 cm. Sedum album L. is a compact ground-cover plant that spreads vigorously. Shading condition of less than $30\%$ of full sunlight didn't cause any trouble, but shading conditions above $87\%$ made the shape of the shoots and leaves abnormal. The plant bloomed from June to August and had a rather large compound umbel of white, star-shaped flowers. 2. Two systems, a drainage-blend-10 cm soil depth and a reservoir$\cdot$drainage-blend-15 cm soil depth, performed best in terms of cover, fresh weight, and dry weight. The first has an advantage for green roofs because it is lighter than the latter. 3. In drainage-blend-10 m soil depth and modified reservoir · drainage-blend-10 cm soil depth system no plants died for about 4 months after stopping the irrigation. The visual quality of the latter system was above 5 for 4 months and that of the former was under 5 after 2 months. In the field, however, the drought tolerance of Sedum album L. grown in the former would be enough to withstand the dry season. Considering the urban ecosystem and the importance of healthy growth the modified reservoir $\cdot$ drainage-blend-10 cm soil depth system was finally recommended. This system was composed of a 4 cm thick drainage layer and drain outlets placed at a height of 2.5 cm. 4. In the proposed system, the survival rate was $100\%$, and there was no injury induced by insects and heat. The leaf density decreased a little in winter. Cover increased throughout the year. Sedum album L. was planted with a cover of 72$cm^{2}$ on 3 April 2003; on 16 June 2003 and 15 June 2004, cover was $132.66\pm$5.87 $cm^{2}$(1.8 times) and $886.98\pm$63.51 $cm^{2}$(12.3 times), respectively.

Cenosphere particles of different fly ash formed at the pulverized coal power plant were hollow sphere or filled with small particles inside solid particles. And size was relatively larger than other fly ash particles as well as specific gravity was small to suspend in the water. In this paper, it was demonstrated to contain a variety of morphological particle type, and the physical and chemical properties related to the cenosphere and fly ash particles. Furthermore it was estimated the possibility to reuse the cenosphere particles on the base of cenosphere properties. Cenosphere formation resulted from melting of mineral inclusion in coal, and then gas generation inside the molten droplet. As the aluminosilicate particle was progressively heated, a molten surface layer developed around the solid core. Further heating leaded to cause the formation of fine particles at the core. The mass median diameter(MMD) of cenosphere particles was $123.11{\mu}m$ and the range of size distribution was $100{\sim}200{\mu}m$ with single modal. It was represented that specific density was $0.67g/cm^3$ fineness was $1135g/cm^3$. The chemical components of cenosphere were similar to other fly ash including $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, but the amount of the chemical component was different respectively. In the case of fly ash, $SiO_2$ concentration was 54.75%, and $Al_2O_3$ concentration was 21.96%, so this two components was found in 76.71% of the total concentration. But in the case of cenosphere, it was represented that $SiO_2$ concentration was 59.17% and $Al_2O_3$ concentration was 30.16%, so this two components was found in 89.33% of the total concentration. Glassy component formed by the aluminosilicate was high in the cenosphere, so that it was suitable to use insulating heat material.

Two different imide oligomers(6FDA-ODA/APA and 6FDA-MDA/MA) having crosslinkable end groups were prepared by using a solution imidization method and their properties were investigated. Also, semi-interpenetrating polymer networks(semi-IPN) were prepared using the blends of imide oligomers with polyetherimide $Ultem^{(R)}$, which is used in dual-ovenable packaging materials. The characteristic properties of semi-IPN films were interpreted by using TGA, Thin Film Diffusion Analyzer, and WAXD. Molecular weights of imide oligomers were successfully controlled utilizing 2-aminophenylacetylene(APA) and maleic anhydride(MA) as an endcapping agent. Exotherm reactions by crosslinking appeared and the amount of exthotherm heat was linearly increased as the content of imide oligomers was increased. For semi-IPNs of $Ultem^{(R)}$ and imide oligomers, 5% and 10% weight loss temperatures increased as the contents of imide oligomers were increased. Diffusion coefficient and water uptake of semi-IPNs decreased as the content of imide oligomers was increased, which might be resulted from hydrophobic fluorine group and high packing density. It was concluded that relatively low thermal stability and hydrolytic stability of polyetherimide $Ultem^{(R)}$ were improved by incorporating new developed imide oligomers.
TIG remelting was performed to harden the surface of automobile earn shaft. Multipass remelting was conducted in longitudinal direction under argon gas atmosphere. The microstructure of as-east earn shaft was gray iron which consisted of flake graphite and pearlitic matrix. The remelted area had microstructue of both fine pearlite and ledeburite structure that consisted of globular austenite and $Fe_3C$. Hardness for as-cast earn shaft had HRc 25~28, however it increased at remelted area to HRc 53~55. Black line was found at heat affected zone next to the fusion line, that is remelt area of previous pass, during multipass remelting. Black line was identified as graphite, which was transformed from $Fe_3C$. in the ledeburite structure. It is observed that all graphites were nucleated at $Fe_3C$. and matrix interface. High density energy laser remelting process was also applied to verify whether black line could be eliminated. However, black line was still existed as observed in TIG remelting process. Regraphitization was simulated on the ledeburitic structure specimen using Gleeble 1500 with conditions of 1100 and 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 0.5, I, 3, 5 and 1Osee. From the fact that graphite was formed even at the simulation condition of 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 0.5sec, it is seen that regraphitization is an inevitable phenomenon generated whatever processes used during multipass overlap remelting.

Au-black for the application of the long wavelength infrared absorber has been prepared by evaporating Au under nitrogen gas-filled low vacuum condition. Characteristics of the deposited Au-black were carefully investigated through structural analysis, infrared absorbance measurement, and patterning of the layer, all of which are dependent on the deposition condition. High density of micro-cavity that trapped infrared were obtained, and infrared absorbance in the wavelength range from 3 $\mu\textrm{g}$ to 14 $\mu\textrm{g}$ was found to be about 90% when the Au-black layer was produced under the deposition condition of mass Per area of about 600 $\mu\textrm{g}$/cm$^{2}$ and chamber pressure of above 1 Torr. Photoresist lift-off process could be performed to pattern the Au-black, of which mass per area was below 900 $\mu\textrm{g}$/cm/ sup 2/. In view of absorbance, heat capacity, and pattern formation, the deposition condition of chamber pressure of about 1 Tow and mass per area of about 600$\mu\textrm{g}$/cm$^{2}$ was most adequate for preparing the Au-black as an infrared absorber.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanism and effect of moxibustion with salt objectively, to be used as the quantitative data through the measurement of temperature, and to grasp the thermodynamic characteristics of moxibustion with salt. Methods: We have selected of the moxibustion with salt of indirect moxibustion. We make a comparative study of the thermodynamic characteristics of moxibustion with salt as a kind of the 4 salt. We examined combustion times, temperatures, temperature gradients in each period during a combustion of moxa. Results: 1. We make out that it is not significantly change the time of thermal conduction of moxibustion with salt as a kind of 4 salt. 2. The heating period of Refined Salt was long and that of Sun-dried Salt was a short time respectively. The heating period of maximum tamperature is high Sun-dried Salt, Mechanical Salt and Refined Salt orderly. Maximun heating speed in the heating period was $0.151{\sim}0.184^{\circ}C/sec$ and at the same tendency of the maximum temperature in the heating period. 3. The retaining period was shorter than the heating period respectively, that is 15~24% of the combustion time of in the heating period. We make out that it is not significantly different the time of the retaining period as a kind of 4 salt. The mean temperature of retaining period was $43.2{\sim}48.1^{\circ}C$, that was extraordinarily high temperature. 4. We make out that it is not significantly different the time of the cooling period as a kind of 4 salt. The cooling period was measured 223~233sec. Beacuse the same density and size of moxa combustion was made an experiment. 5. The effective combustion time of Refined Salt is longer(259sec) than that of Sun-dried Salt(173sec). It is significantly different the time of the combustion time as a kind of 4 salt. 6. It is significantly different the Sample deviation of the combustion time as a kind of 4 salt because of the water content of the 4 salt individually. Conclusions: As the base on this study, we obtained the conclusion as the follows. The salt of moxibustion with salt was fitted for Sun-dried Salt due to making to Mechanical Salt recently. The Refined Salt is composition rate to another and small size comparatively. So It was fitted for the salt of moxibustion with salt. It is necessary to study continuously about the more suitable moxibustion with salt and quantitative analysis about the moxibustion with salt.

Mn - Zn Ferrite has physical properties of the high initial permeability, saturation magnetic flux density, and low loss factor as a representative magnetic material of soft ferrites, in addition the mechanical property is excellent as a single crystal. Therefore it is important electronic components and used for VTR Head. Mn - Zn Ferrite single crystals with the diameter 8mm were grown in atmosphere mixed with $O_2$ and Ar gas by the Floating Zone(FZ) method that impurities can not be incorporated to the crystals because of not-using the crucible to put in the melt, and the sharp temperature gradient results from making a focus at one point utilizing the infrared ray emitted from the halogen lamp as a heat source. During the crystal growing, the highest temperature of melting area was maintained to be $1650^{\circ}C$, growth rate and rotation rate were 10 mm/hr, 20 rpm respectively. The phases and the growth directions of crystals were determined from the analysis of X RD patterns, Laue, TEM diffraction patterns and etch pit shapes were observed by the optical microscope through the chemical etching. The corelation of optimum conditions for acquiring the better crystals was found out with the growth rate, the length and diameter of melt at the interface according to the diameter of feed rod, and the patterns of growing interface also studied.
