In the present study, the effect of cold reduction ratio on the spherodization rate of SK85 high carbon steel sheet was investigated. High carbon steel sheet fabricated by POSCO was soaked at $800^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr in a box furnace and then treated at $570^{\circ}C$ for 5 min in a salt bath furnace followed by water quenching to obtain a fine pearlite structure. Cold rolling was conducted on the sheets of fine pearlite by reduction ratios of 20, 30, and 40 % and heat treatment for spheroidization was carried out at $720^{\circ}C$ for the various time intervals from 0.1 to 32 hrs. Area fraction of spheroidized cementite was measured with an image analyzer as a function of cold reduction ratios and duration times.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of loop formation and heat treatment upon the elastic properties of orthodontic wires. The specimens selected were .016', .018', .016x.022', and .018x.022' sized stainless steel (standard) and cobalt-chromium-nickel wires, and were divided into 7 groups as; 1. straight non-heat treated 2. U looped non-heat treated 3. L looped non-heat treated 4. Circle looped non-heat treated 5. U looped heat treated 6. L looped heat treated 7. Circle looped heat treated Heat treatment was performed in Big Jane furnace at 850' F for 3 minutes. The elastic limit and the elastic range of each specimen were determined by bending test, and load deflection rate was computed from those values. The findings were as follows; 1. The formation of loop resulted in increased load-deflection rate for both stainless steel and cobalt-chromium-nickel wires. 2. The heat treated group showed higher load-deflection rate than non-heat treated group, which was more apparent in cobalt-chromiumnickel wire than in stainless steel wire. 3. L loop had the highest load-deflection rate among 3 types of loops, followed by U loop and circle loop. 4. The specimens with greater diameter displayed the more increase in load-deflection rate by looping and heat treatment.

This paper is about the yield rate of lower temperature furnace for wafer heat-treatment. The flat-zone that the temperature in furnace has uniform distribution specific area is the significant variable to the yield rate. In this study, we researched about the ways how to widen the flat zone in the furnace using CFD. As a result, we confirmed that the characteristic of the flat-zone was changed when SCU(Super Cooling Unit) was used. We considered temperature control with above.
In this study, commercially available pitch-based carbon fibers of general grade were post-heat-treated using a boxtype high temperature furnace at $1800^{\circ}C$, $2000^{\circ}$, $2200^{\circ}C$, and $2400^{\circ}C$, respectively. The fundamental characteristics of each heat-treated carbon fibers were investigated in terms of chemical composition, morphology, thermal stability, X-ray diffraction, single filament tensile test, and electrical resistivity. The result showed that the fiber properties were significantly influenced by the post-heat-treatment, indicating the greater effect with increasing treatment temperature. The carbon contents, thermal stability, and tensile properties of the carbon fibers used here were further increased by the post-heat-treatment, whereas the d-spacing between graphene layers and the electrical resistivity were reduced with increasing post-heat-treatment temperature.
Auto industries have tried to employ lightweight alloys to improve the fuel efficiency of manufactured vehicles, as the environmental concern becomes an important issue. Even though the aluminum alloy is one of the most appropriate lightweight alloys for auto parts, the low formability of an aluminum alloy has been an obstacle to its application. In order to resolve the low formability problem, a recent study (Lee et al., 2017 [1]) showed that the infrared (IR) local heat treatment can improve the formability with a reduction of heating energy. However, the aforementioned study was limited to only a linear line heating. Since many of the available auto parts as applicable to vehicle manufacturing have a curved line shape, the heating experiments for a curved line should be studied. The possibility of building IR lamps having complex shapes is an advantage of the IR lamp, since it can control the heating shape. This work conducted the IR local heat treatment for the curved line. The experimental results show that the IR local heat treatment can improve the formability of the aluminum alloy for curved line. Additionally, it is shown that the IR local heat treatment also reduces the heating energy when it is compared with the furnace heating which heats a blank as a whole. A numerical simulation with a stress-based forming limit diagram also supports the experimental results.
TiAlN coatings are available in various industry fields as a wear resistant coating for high-speed machining, due to its high hardness, excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of TiAlN multilayer coatings is better than that of single TiN coatings. Most of TiAlN coated layers were formed by heat treatment of coating layers with a non-stoichiometric $Ti_xAl_{1-x}N$. In this study, TiAlN coated layer was prepared by R.F magnetron sputtering and investigated the thermal behavior for heat treatment at various temperature in tube furnace. The formation of large particles with porous microstructure and phase change from HCP to FCC were observed on coated layer during heat treatment over $850^{\circ}C$ and it reduced the corrosion resistance of coated TiAlN layers.
The purpose of this study was to analyze microstructural changes and evaluate the mechanical properties of TWIP steel subjected to variations in heat treatment, in order to identify optimal process conditions for enhancing the performance of TWIP steel. For this purpose, a homogenization heat treatment was conducted at 1,200 ℃ for 2 h, followed by hot rolling at temperature exceeding 1,100 ℃ and cold rolling. Annealing heat treatment is achieved using a muffle furnace in the range of 600 ℃ to 1,000 ℃. The microstructure characterization was performed with an optical microscope and X-ray diffraction. Mechanical properties are evaluated using micro Vickers hardness, tensile test, and ECO index (UTS × Elongation). The specimens annealed at 900 ℃ and 1,000 ℃ experienced a significant decrease in hardness and strength due to decarburization. Consequently, the decarburization phenomenon is closely related to the heat treatment process and mechanical properties of TWIP steel, and the effect of the microstructure change during annealing heat treatment.
Controlled nitriding is a technology that controls the nitriding potential based on the gas partial pressure received through an IOT-based sensor. Controlled nitriding is characterized by easy control of the phase of the nitride compound and excellent reproducibility of quality. In particular, it is possible to form a compound layer of excellent quality with fewer pores on the surface. However, despite these advantages, the application of controlled nitriding still needs to be improved in Korea. This paper explains the characteristics of controlled nitriding and describes the future direction and the problems of controlled nitriding in Korea.

Phosphorous was deped in silicon thin films by Ion Mass Doping and Changes in the electrical resistance with respect tko heat treatments were investigated. SOI(Silicon On Insulator) thin films which contain few grain boundaries prepared by ZMR(Zone Melting Recrystallization) of polysilicon films, polysilicon films which have about 1500 $A^{\rarw}$ of grain size prepared by LPCVD at 625.deg. C, and amorphous silicon thin films prepared by LPCVD at low temperature were used as substrates and thermal behavior of phosphorous after RTA(Rapid Thermal Annealing) and furnace annealing was carefully studied. Amorphous thin films showed about 10$^{6}$ .OMEGA./ㅁbefore any heat treatment, while polycrystalline and SOI films about 10$^{3}$.OMEGA./¤. All these films, however, showed about 10.OMEGA./ㅁafter furnace annealing at 700.deg. C for 3hrs and RTA showed about the same trend. Films with grain boundaries showed a certain range of heat treatment which rendered increase of the electrical resistance upon annealing, which could not be observed in amorphous films and segregation of doped phosphorous by diffusion with annealing was thought to be responsible for this abnormal behavior.
The effect of $\beta$-heat treatment on th microstructure, mechanical properties and texture in the nuclear fuel cladding of Zircaloy-4 tubes was chosen at 1000, 1100 and 120$0^{\circ}C$, and the tubes were heat-treated by a high frequency vacuum induction furnace. Morphology of the second phase particles and $\alpha$-grain of as-received tubes were markedly changed by heat treatment. The average sizes of second phase particles of as-received and $\beta$-heat treated tubes were 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 0.076$\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. However, the average sizes of second phase particles were not much changed in the $\beta$-heated temperatures. With increasing heat treatment temperatures, the 0.2% yield strength and the hoop strength were decreased because of changes in preferred orientation as will as $\alpha$-plate width. Heat treated Zircaloy-4 tubes exhibited texture changes but the preferred orientation of grains still remained.
