In order to investigate $CO_2$ heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop by PAG oil concentration during $CO_2$ evaporation, the experiment on evaporation heat transfer characteristics in a mini-channels were performed. The experimental apparatus consisted of a test section, a DC power supply, a heater, a chiller, a mass flow meter, a pump and a measurement system. Experiment was conducted for various mass fluxes($300{\sim}800kg/m^{2}s$), heat fluxes($10{\sim}40kW/m^2$) saturation temperatures($-5{\sim}5^{\circ}C$), and PAG oil concentration(0, 3, 5wt%). The variation of the heat transfer coefficient was different according to the oil concentration. With the increase of the oil concentration, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient decreased and the delay of dryout by oil addition was found. Pressure drop increased with the increase of the oil concentration and heat flux, and the decrease of saturation temperature.
The shell & tube heat exchanger is used throughout various industries because of its inexpensive cost and handiness when it comes to maintenance. However, it has many design elements such as the location and the shape of inlet and outlet, the numbers of tubes and baffles, etc. Also, the flow within the shell and the heat transfer are complex. This paper is performed numerical analysis to evaluate capabilities of difference in temperature and pressure drop, which are the performance of channel heat exchanger, one of different types of shell & tube exchanger. Also, factors that affect the performance of channel heat exchanger were selected through design of experiment along with key factors.
The performance of air-to-air heat exchanger has been investigated with rotating porous plates newly developed in this study. With an equal interval of 18 mm, the rotating porous plates are installed inside the heat exchanger where the hot and cold airs enter at opposite ends. When flowing in opposite directions by the separating plate installed in the center of the rotating porous plates, the airs give and receive the heat each other. Dry bulb temperature is set by adjusting heat supply at heater. In order to measure the temperature distribution of the hot air side inside heat exchanger, the thermocouples are inserted between the plates. The first location of thermocouple is 10mm downstream from the inlet of heat exchanger, and succeeding ten locations are aligned at an equal interval of 18mm. From the experiment of air-to-air heat exchanger with the rotating porous plates, the heat transfer rate increased as both air flow rate and RPM of the rotating porous plate increased. It was found that the overall heat transfer coefficient increased with the increase in RPM of porous plate at the conditions of the same air flow rate.

A study on convective cooling characteristics has been done in the channels with heat pipes and associated Plane fins Analysis with FLUENT V5.0 lies its Purpose on the possible enhancement of heat transfer capability between an existing three in-line arrayed heatpipes and an extending four in-line arrayed heatpipes with increasing channel width. Numerical analysis is limited to the laminar flow in an isolated flow channel by employing cyclic boundary conditions for calculation purposes. Friction factors for three and four in-line arrayed heatpipes are compared with experimental results. In addition, temperature behavior at the plate fin for the three in-line arrayed heatpipes is compared with experiment. Friction factors and overall channel heat transfer coefficients (and/or Nusselt numbers) are presented as a function of Reynolds number. An increase of number of heatpipes and channel width reults in a decrease of the friction factor and doesn't not result in an increase of heat transfer performance. However. considering the 25$\%$ increase of heat load accompanies with maximum 8$^{\circ}C$ rise of average temperature of heat pipes, the four in-line array with the increase of channel width of heat pipe heat sink can be considered appropriate.
Saturated boiling heat transfer experiment in a hemispherical narrow space is conducted using Freon-113 to investigate an additional heat removal capability through a hypothetical gap between lower head and degraded core. The narrow space of 1mm consists of a 124mm diameter heated stainless steel hemisphere and a glass outer vessel. Within the hemispherical narrow space large coalesced bubbles are produced and these bubbles rise in random direction, causing liquid flow in from the opposite side to fill the region. Such flow in random direction makes the flow field in the narrow space very chaotic and thus enhance heat transfer. The heat transfer coefficient is higher at lower angle and at higher heat flux. The present study shows that the liquid from upper region can effectively penetrate into the gap and augment the heat removal capability through tile gap.
The purpose of this study is a heat transfer coefficient test of evaporator tube in shell and tube heat exchanger by shapes, using R-404A. The experimental apparatus is designed to simulate the real heat transfer rate in one shell and tube heat exchanger. The test section is formed four type tubes that are Inner ridged tube, Corrugated tube, Turbo-C tube, Inner fin tube and shell type is formed by electrical heater. All tests were performed at a fixed refrigerant evaporator temperature at $1.5^{\circ}C,\;-3^{\circ}C$ and with mass fluxes of 29, 25 kg/hr. Heat transfer rate is calculated a enthalpy difference in test section. In experiment, heat transfer coefficient measured one by one and electrical heaters are supplemented by evaporator.
The experiment of performance about closed-wet cooling tower(CWCT) was conducted in this study. The test section has the cooling water that flows from top part of a heat exchanger that has an entrance of cooling water with one and multi path. The heat exchanger consists of 15.88mm tubes with ten rows and ten columns and staggered arrangement. In this experiment, heat and mass transfer coefficients and range are calculated with variations of cooling water and path. The results indicated that operating CWCT using two path have the high values of heat and mass transfer coefficients and range than one path.
The objective of this study was to investigate the characteristics of air flow and heat transfer caused by trapezoid rods array in impinging air jet system. In this study, trapezoid rods have been set up on front of flat plate to act as a turbulence promoter. Local Nusselt numbers were determined as a function of three parameters: (a) the space from rods to heating surface(C=1, 2, 4mm), (b) the pitch between each rods(P=30, 40, 50mm), (c) the distance from nozzle exit to flat plate(H/B=2, 6, 10). And this research compared the above with the experiment without trapezoid rods. As a result, heat transfer performance was best under the condition of C=1mm and as the pitch is 30mm. In this case, maximum rate of heat transfer augmentation is about 1.9 times greater compared to that without trapezoid rods.
This study presents a numerical procedure to optimize the shape of dimple surface to enhance turbulent heat transfer in a rectangular channel. The response surface based optimization method is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Wavier-Stokes analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer with shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model. The dimple depth-to-dimple print diameter ratio, channel height-to-dimple print diameter ratio, and dimple print diameter-to-pitch ratio are chosen as design variables. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of heat transfer related term and friction loss related term with a weighting factor. full factorial method is used to determine the training points as a mean of design of experiment. The optimum shape shows remarkable performance in comparison with a reference shape.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of particles on the heat transfer characteristics of fluids flowing in a cold water tube. Plastic beads with 3 different sizes were used as flowing particles with cold water. An experimental test section was composed of concentric double tubes having diameters of 25mm for the inner tube and 50mm for the outer tube. The materials for the inner and outer tubes are copper and PVC respectively. It was found that the particles enhanced the heat transfer coefficient by random and vortex motion in the fluid. Hence the heat transfer coefficients for the fluid with 2mm, 5mm and $2{\times}6mm$ particles were $7%{\sim}37%$ higher than the fluid without the particles.
