This study investigated the performance of hygiene management according to the capacity and food cost of foodservice in kindergartens as a measure of kindergartens foodservice hygiene management. Dietitians from the education office visited 50 kindergartens under the control of Dongbu District Office of Education during January, 2011. Kindergartens were 11 public and 39 private institutions. Over half of kindergartens (n=27) provided foodservice to 50~99 children. About 21 kindergartens had a foodservice cost per student per day of 2,000 won. Regarding personal hygiene, 'whether to wear an accessory or have a manicure' showed the best performance. 'Whether to have their health examined once every 6 months or keep their health records in 2 years' was rarely performed. For food materials, 'whether to buy food appropriate for the quality control standard of food materials' showed the highest performance. The highest performances for storage management of food materials and handling of food was 'whether to store goods within butlery at intervals more than 30 cm from the ground' and 'whether to heat and cook food more than $74^{\circ}C$', respectively. The highest performance for distribution of food and management of facilities was 'the hygienic management of cooking tools and facilities' and 'the proper installation of air-conditioning, heating and ventilation facilities', respectively. The results of this study show that capacity and food cost had the strongest effects on performance of personal hygiene. Especially, smaller facility size could increase performance of foodservice management.
To investigate the effect of strains heat effect and thermal energy on the intrinsic degradation of $LaNi_5$, the changes of P-C-Isotherm curves under the condition of mainly applied one of the above factors were investigated. The revesible hydrogen storage capacity decreased by means of the hydrogenation at high temperature without cyclings or pressure induced cyclings with low thermal energy. The degree of degradation was more severe as the heat of hydrogenation reaction increased. Thus the intrinsic degradation of $LaNi_5$ depended upon lattice strain as well as thermal energy.

Heat transfer modeling was performed in order to study a natural solar heating system. Simulation of the system was obtained by writing instantaneous energy balance equations for the various components. A thermal-network provided the means for systematically accounting for each of the energy balances. The resulting balances were solved using time varying inputs, such as solar gain and ambient temperature, and the initial temperatures of the components. Parametric heat transfer calculations were performed. Results are discussed which illustrate several effects, including variation of thermal capacity of the storage wall, installation of night insulation, installation of a thermally controlled fan between the sunspace and room, and variation of the width of the sunspace.

Performance of a small-capacity solar absorption cooling system was investigated experimentally. Ten sets of evacuative-tube solar-heat collectors and a 5 kW single-stage absorption cooler were combined to produce a hybrid cooling system. The performance of the cooling system was measured using a tim-coil unit installed in a small plastic storage. It was found from the test on a sunny day of May that when the temperature of the hot water supplied from the solar collectors to the generator of the absorption cooler reached $60^{\circ}C$, the absorption cooler started cooling and the cold water temperature measured from the fan-coil unit reached $18^{\circ}C$. The COP, which is defined as the ratio of the cooling power to the total electrical power input was higher than 1.0.
The purpose of this study is to study the safety of a small LPG storage tank with a capacity less than 3 ton when it is exposed to an external fire. First, simulation studies were carried out using ASPEN Plus and PHAST to demonstrate that overpressurization in the tank can be relieved by discharging the LPG through an adequately sized safety valve, but the release may lead to the secondary risk of fire and explosion around the tank. Next, the temporal variations of the temperatures of the lading and tank wall were obtained using AFFTAC, which showed that the tank wall adjacent to the vapor space could be overheated in about 11 min to such a point that the weakened strength might cause a rupture of the tank and subsequent BLEVE. The consequences of the BLEVE were estimated using PHAST. Finally, several practical measures for preventing the hazards of overheating were suggested, including an anti-explosion device, sprinkling system, insulation, heat-proof coating, and enhanced safety factor for tank fabrication. The effectiveness of these measures were examined by simulations using AFFTAC and ASPEN Plus.

Optimal cooling operation algorithm was developed based on a simulation case of a single family house model equipped with renewable energy facility. EnergyPlus simulation results were used as virtual test data. The model contained three energy storage elements: thermal heat capacity of the living room, chilled water storage tank, and battery. Their charging and discharging schedules were optimized so that daily electricity bill became minimal. As an optimization tool, linear programming was considered because it was possible to obtain results in real time. For its adoption, EnergyPlus-based house model had to be linearly approximated. Results of this study revealed that dynamic cooling load of the living room could be approximated by a linear RC model. Scheduling based on the linear programming was then compared to that by a nonlinear optimization algorithm which was made using GenOpt developed by a national lab in USA. They showed quite similar performances. Therefore, linear programming can be a practical solution to optimal operation scheduling if linear dynamic models are tuned to simulate their real equivalents with reasonable accuracy.
Hydrogen is currently produced from natural gas reforming or industrial process of by-product over than 90%. Additionally, there are green hydrogens based on renewable energy generation, but the import of green hydrogen from other countries is being considered due to the output variability depending on the weather and climate. Due to low density of hydrogen, it is difficult to storage and import hydrogen of large capacity. For improving low density issue of hydrogen, the gaseous hydrogen is liquefied and stored in cryogenic tank. Density of hydrogen increase from 0.081 kg/m3 to 71 kg/m3 when gaseous hydrogen transfer to liquid hydrogen. Density of liquid hydrogen is higher about 800 times than gaseous. However, since density and boiling point of liquid hydrogen is too lower than liquefied natural gas approximately 1/6 and 90 K, to store liquid hydrogen for long-term is very difficult too. To overcome this weakness, this paper introduces storage method of hydrogen based on liquid/solid (slush) and facilities for producing slush hydrogen to improve low density issue of hydrogen. Slush hydrogen is higher density and heat capacity than liquid hydrogen, can be expected to improve these issues.

Reversible solid oxide fuel cell (ReSOC) system was integrated with waste steam for electrical energy storage in distributed energy storage application. Waste steam was utilized as external heat in SOEC mode for higher hydrogen production efficiency. Three system configurations were analyzed to evaluate techno-economic performance. The first system is a simple configuration to minimize the cost of balance of plant. The second system is the more complicated configuration with heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). The third system is featured with HRSG and fuel recirculation by blower. Lumped models were used for system performance analyses. The ReSOC stack was characterized by applying area specific resistance value at fixed operating pressure and temperature. In economical assessment, the levelized costs of energy storage (LCOS) were calculated for three system configurations based on capital investment. The system lifetime was assumed 20 years with ReSOC stack replaced every 5 years, inflation rate of 2%, and capacity factor of 80%. The results showed that the exergy round-trip efficiency of system 1, 2, 3 were 47.9%, 48.8%, and 52.8% respectively. The high round-trip efficiency of third system compared to others is attributed to the remarkable reduction in steam requirement and hydrogen compression power owning to fuel recirculation. The result from economic calculation showed that the LCOS values of system 1, 2, 3 were 3.46 ¢/kWh, 3.43 ¢/kWh, and 3.14 ¢/kWh, respectively. Even though the systems 2 and 3 have expensive HRSG, they showed higher round-trip efficiencies and significant reduction in boiler and hydrogen compressor cost.
When a warm well located downgradient is captured by cold thermal plume originated from an upgradient cold well, the warm thermal plume is pushed further downgradient in the direction of groundwater flow. If groundwater flow direction is parallel to an aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES), the warm well can no longer be utilized as a heat source during the winter season because of the reduced heat capacity of the warm groundwater. It has been found that when the specific discharge is increased by $1{\times}10^{-7}m/s$ in this situation, the performance of ATES is decreased by approximately 2.9% in the warm thermal plume, and approximately 6.5% in the cold thermal plume. An increase of the specific discharge in a permeable hydrogeothermal system with a relatively large hydraulic gradient creates serious thermal interferences between warm and cold thermal plumes. Therefore, an area comprising a permeable aquifer system with large hydraulic gradient should not be used for ATES site. In case of ATES located perpendicular to groundwater flow, when the specific discharge is increased by $1{\times}10^{-7}m/s$ in the warm thermal plume, the performance of ATES is decreased by about 2.5%. This is 13.8% less reduced performance than the parallel case, indicating that an increase of groundwater flow tends to decrease the thermal interference between cold and warm wells. The system performance of ATES that is perpendicular to groundwater flow is much better than that of parallel ATES.

The present study has been directed at developing thermal models to investigate the dynamic behavior of a solar cooling system including an absorption chiller, solar collectors, a hot water storage tank, a fan coil unit, and the air-conditioned space. The operation of the system was simulated for 8 hours in two different operation modes. In the mode 1, the system operated without any capacity control.0 the mode 2, an auxiliary boiler supplied heat to the generator if hot water temperature became lower than a certain value. Moreover, the mass flow rate of hot water to the generator was controlled by comparing the instantaneous room air temperature with the design value. The variation of temperature and concentration in the system components and that of heat transfer rates in the system were obtained for both modes of operation. It was found that the room temperature was maintained near the desired value in the mode 2 by supplying auxiliary heat or controlling the mass flow rate of hot water, while the deviation of room temperature was quite great in the mode 2.
