In the summer, the irradiated solar heat gain through the roof has an effect on the thermal environment of the top floor units of apartment houses. This paper investigated the differences of the indoor air temperature and thermal comfort index between the top floor unit and the middle floor unit by measuring them at the sample houses. The purpose of this paper is to provide quantitative data about the irradiated solar heat gain during the summertime through the roof of an apartment house and these data to be the source to reevaluate the appropriate roof insulation efficiency. From this study, we obtained the brief results as follows. Indoor air temperature at the top floor unit is $1.2\sim2.2^{\circ}C$ higher than that of middle floor unit. The evaluation of the indoor thermal comfort index at each sample rooms reveals notable thermal differences between the two units. Top floor units need more cooling load during the summertime compared to middle floor units. Therefore, solutions to reduce solar Heat gain at top floor units to be considered.

Efforts have been made in this paper to develop the measuring device for the insulation performance of full scale NO96 LNG CCS. The facility was designed to maintain environmental conditions which are similar to operation conditions of full scale LNG CCS. In the facility, the heat sink boundary was kept cryogenic temperature by cold chamber which contains liquefied nitrogen and heat source boundary was made by external case heated by natural convection. Heat Flow Meter method (HFM) was applied to this facility, hence Heat Flux Sensors (HFS) were attached to specimen. The equivalent thermal conductivity of full scale NO96 unit box was targeted to measure and PUF of same size was used for the calibration test. Additionally, the finite element analysis was carried out to check the performance of the developed test facility and experimental results were also compared with those predicted by the numerical method.
In the case of a fire accident on a ship or an offshore plant, the design of the bulkhead penetration piece must be verified via a fire test procedure (FTP), as specified by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC). The purpose of this study is to verify both the numerical analysis results and the design specifications for penetration pieces that could be applied to the A60 class bulkhead division. In this study, the FTP was carried out in accordance with the test procedure prescribed in the MSC regulation. In order to review the fire resistance performance according to the material type, bulkhead penetration pieces for the FTP were made from brass, carbon steel for machine structures (S45C), and austenite stainless steel (SUS316). In addition, spray-type insulation and mechanical fastener-type insulation were applied to investigate the fire resistance performance according to the type of insulation. To verify the heat transfer numerical analysis results for the A60 class bulkhead penetrating piece from this test study, the design specifications of the penetrating piece material and the insulation type applicable to a ship and an offshore plant were identified.
This study evaluated the thermoregulatory properties of functional thermal underwear ('heating underwear') in markets using a thermal manikin and human wear trials. One ordinary thermal underwear (ORD) and two functional thermal underwear (HEAT1 and HEAT2; manufactured goods, HEAT1: moisture absorbing heat release mechanism, HEAT2: heat storage, release mechanism) were chosen. Thermo-physiological and subjective responses were evaluated at an air temperature of $5.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ and air humidity of $30{\pm}5%RH$ with five male subjects ($21.6{\pm}1.3yr$ in age, $178.0{\pm}5.9cm$ in height, $68.2{\pm}5.9kg$ in body mass). Experimental conditions consisted of four ensembles that included winter clothes (Control: no underwear, ORD, HEAT1, HEAT2). Water-vapor resistance was greater in fabric of HEAT1 than others. The results were: 1) Total thermal insulation (IT) using a thermal manikin were not greater for HEAT1 (0.860clo) and HEAT 2 (0.873clo) than for ORD (0.886clo). 2) There were no significant differences in rectal temperature, mean skin temperature, heart rate and total body mass loss between the four conditions. Microclimate clothing temperature on the back was greater for ORD than for HEAT1 and HEAT2. Subjects felt more comfortable with HEAT1 than for others at rest. HEAT2 was higher in microclimate humidity when compared to other conditions. The results suggest that thermoregulatory properties of 'heating underwear' in market did not differ from those of ordinary thermal underwear in terms of total thermal insulation and thermoregulatory responses in a cold environment.
This study was performed the heat transportation ratio of three types of the following sandwich panel by KS F 2278(2003) ; Type ${\sharp}1$ : Carbon/epoxy Aluminum Honeycomb and Balsa Core Sandwich Panel(Thickness : 37mm), Type ${\sharp}2$ : Carbon/epoxy Aluminum Honeycomb Core Sandwich Panel(Thickness : 57mm), and Type ${\sharp}3$ : Carbon/epoxy Aluminum Honeycomb Core Sandwich Panel(Thickness : 37mm). Also was performed the heat transportation of next three types of the following sandwich panel by KS F2277(2002) ; Type ${\sharp}4$ and ${\sharp}5$ : 27mm, and 35mm thick-Aluminum Honeycomb Sandwich Panels, and Type ${\sharp}6$ : 27mm thick-Foaming Aluminum Sandwich Panel. It is the larger area between the skin and core, the heat transportation ratio is the higher, and when it is composed of the hybrid composite structure, good insulation property was shown.
Windows have an great effect on annual building load because windows are the weakest parts of building envelope thermally. To reduce the consumption of building energy, the thermal performance of window has to be improved in first place. Therefore this research aims to make a quantitative analysis of the heating and cooling load according to the window thermal performance using the heat load simulation program. As a result of the simulation, annual heat load is down 38% according to the decrease of U-value of window, 1.00 W/$m^2K$. and annual heat load is up 10% according to the decrease of shading coefficient, 0.20. The annual load of the window with Low-E glass is 15% lower than the window with pair glass.
Heat cycle aging of insulating materials in large generator stator winding has been investigated using both on-line and off-line test methods. On this study, principally, off-line test against actual generator in service was carried out to acquire information about polarization index(PI) and dissipation factor, dissipation factor tip-up, maximum partial discharge for the purpose of remnant breakdown voltage and life assessment. It was found from the tests that both dissipation factor and maximum partial discharge decreased with the increase of operating hours and starting numbers. It was found from off-line tests that the remnant breakdown voltage had a strong relationship with both dissipation factor and maximum partial discharge the remnant breakdown voltage as a results of both operating hours and starting number and the nondestructive tests were proposed as parameters which can predict the remnant lifetime of insulating materials in large generator stator windings.
