Purpose: In order to provide basic information for the development of nursing programs, health promoting behavior of students rewriting college entrance examinations was examined and factors related to health promotion were identified. Method: Data were collected by questionnaire from 804 examines in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and were analyzed using the SAS program with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Pearson correlation coefficients. Result: The mean score for health promoting behavior was 2.50. The highest score for the sub-areas was harmonious relationships and the lowest was, professional health maintenance. There were significant differences in health promoting behavior according to the following general characteristics; religion, frequency of rewriting college entrance examination, economic burden, parents' education level, grade, satisfaction with parents, friends and rewriting of college entrance examinations, parents' health concernsand knowledge of health, need for health education, and health condition and chronic disease over the past year. Correlations between health promoting behavior and family support and self-esteem were positive. The variables that influenced health promoting behavior were family support ($24.5\%$), self-esteem ($11.3\%$), anxiety ($2.6\%$), and stress of studying ($0.5\%$), explaining $38.9\%$ of the total variance. Conclusion: These results will help to develop a nursing program that enhances health promoting behavior of students rewriting college entrance examinations.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perceived health status and health promoting behaviors of nursing students. Methods: The subjects were 203 nursing. Data were collected from September 19 to October 7, 2011 by using self-reported questionnaires. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Results: The mean score of perceived health status was 3.42, and health promoting behaviors was 2.30. There were significant differences in perceived health status according to sex, grade, and type of residence. In addition there were significant differences in health promoting behaviors according to sex, hospitalization experience, and smoking. Also, perceived health status significantly positively correlated with health promoting behaviors. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that perceived health status is an important factor related to health promoting behaviors of nursing students. Therefore, it is necessary to develop multiple health promoting programs considering characteristics of subjects and perceived health status.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of self efficacy, and health related hardiness on a health promoting lifestyle of middle-aged people Method: The study was designed as a descriptive survey study. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire which included general characteristics, measure of self efficacy, health related hardiness, and health promoting lifestyle. Data collection was done between May and August, 2007 with 197 middle-aged participants. Result: The average score of the participants for self efficacy was 34.78, for health related hardiness 57.01 and for a health promoting lifestyle 127.53. There were positive correlations between self efficacy and a health promoting lifestyle, health related hardiness and a health promoting lifestyle, and self efficacy and health related hardiness. The correlations were statistically significant. Health related hardiness was a significant predictors of a health promoting lifestyle. Conclusion: A strategy for improving self efficacy and health related hardiness should be developed and a nursing intervention program should also be provided based on the developed strategy of middle-aged people.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop strategies for creating health promoting school and to evaluate the implementation and its effect on the school. Methods: Based on WHO's Health Promoting School, we developed 5 strategies and implementing process for creating health promoting school and undertook The implementation process included workshops to raise awareness of the health promoting school, establishment of a school health team, review of the health needs of its community, development of an action plan, and practice of activities and reflect on program. Seventeen teachers (male 35.3%, female 64.7%) and 248 students (male 51.2%, female 47,6%) had completed pretest and posttest. Results: It was increasing in school's social environment, community relationship, personal skill and health service among components of HPS. However, there were no significant differences in self-reported health status and health behaviors among teachers. Although there were no significant changes in self-esteem, self-efficacy and BMI, there were significantly increasing in health knowledge, physical activities and fruit and vegetable intakes among students of a pilot school. Conclusion: Strategies for a creating health promoting school were appropriate to implement in school and they would also make a contribution to improve health knowledge and health behaviors in elementary school students.
Purpose: This study was performed to identify the effects of a health management program on health-promoting lifestyle and depression for the elderly living at home. Methods: Study design was a quasi-experiment with one group pre-test and post-test. Twenty-four elderly were participated in this study. The health management program for the elderly consisted of health education, health consultation, and exercise. The program was conducted for 60 minutes, once a week for 10 weeks. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test with SPSS/WIN 18.0 version. Results: After the health management program, health-promoting lifestyle (t=14.14, p<.001) and depression (t=-4.78, p=.001) in the elderly were significantly improved. Conclusion: The health management program was effective for the elderly. Further research is needed to validate the effects of this program including control groups and a larger sample.
Purpose : This study examines the differences in self-efficacy and health promoting behavior between obese students and normal weight students by gender; it tries to obtain basic data for the health guidance of obese students. Methods : Data were collected from 360 students (90 normal weight males, 90 obese males, 90 normal weight females, 90 obese females) using questionnaires about general characteristics, self-efficacy, and health promoting behavior. There were analyzed with descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation), and a x$^2$ test, ANCOVA, and a Pearson's correlation of coefficient at the 0.05 significance level by using the SAS (version 8.01) Win Program. Results : The score of self-efficacy appears that in the case of boys, obese students are significantly lower than their normal weight counterparts (F=25.85, p=<.0001), while in the case of girls there is no significant difference between the two groups (F=.01, p=.9118). The score of health promoting behavior appears that in the case of boys, obese students are significantly lower than their normal weight counterparts (F=28.61, p=<.0001), while in the case of girls there is no significant difference between the two groups (F=1.25, p=.2643). The relation of self-efficacy and health promoting behavior shows a statistically significant correlation in all cases: obese boys (r=.69, p=<.0001), normal weight boys (r=.51, p=<.0001), obese girls (r=.67, p=<.0001), and normal weight girls (r=.49, p=<.0001). Conclusions : An evaluation study needs to see whether a program to encourage the self-efficacy of obese boys can be effective in health promoting behavior or weight control in the long run. As in this study more than half of the obese girls have mild-level obesity, a follow-up study should be conducted to examine the self-efficacy and health promoting behavior between middle or highly obese students and normal weight students.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors influencing the health promoting behavior(s) of office worker males in the COVID-19 pandemic by applying Pender's health promotion model. Methods: The participants in this study were 149 male office workers at companies located in S, G and S cities. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and a stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS Window 25.0 program. Results: The subject's health promoting behaviors and prior related behaviors (r=.58, p<.001), perceived benefits of action (r=.41, p<.001), self-efficacy (r=.53, p<.001), social support (r=.39, p<.001), self-esteem (r=.47, p<.001) and commitment to a plan of action (r=.67, p<.001) showed a high positive correlation. The factors affecting the subjects' health promoting behaviors were the commitment to a plan of action (𝛽=.35, p<.001), self-esteem (𝛽=.27, p=.005), prior related behavior (𝛽=.26, p<.001), health status (good) (𝛽=.20, p=.001) and self-efficacy (𝛽=.14, p=.047). These variables explained 63.0% of the subjects' health promoting behaviors. Conclusion: During the COVID-19 pandemic, subjects are more likely to be exposed to disease due to reduced outdoor activity time and irregular eating habits due to the strengthening of social distancing. Health promoting behaviors are an important concept that can maintain health and prevent diseases. To improve the health promoting behaviors of men engaged in office work, it is necessary to develop and operate a health promotion behaviors program considering those variables.

Purpose: This study examined diabetes knowledge, self-efficacy, and health promoting behaviors, and investigated factors affecting health-promoting behaviors of middle-aged people. Methods: From August to September 2014, a convenience sample of 264 subjects was recruited from B city and G province. The data analysis was done by ${\chi}^2$ test, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Diabetes knowledge was $11.3{\pm}3.63$ in men and $12.7{\pm}3.74$ in women. The average levels of self-efficacy and health promoting behaviors of subjects were similar with other middle-aged individuals. Diabetes knowledge, self-efficacy, and health promoting behaviors had a positive correlation with each other in both men and women. To test the mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between diabetes knowledge and health promoting behaviors, a Sobel test was performed and Z-scores of 3.698(p<.001) in men and 2.748(p=.006) in women were obtained. Conclusion: Diabetes prevention education is recommended for the middle-aged community. When developing diabetes prevention program for middle-aged people, such programs should consider self-efficacy, especially in women.
Purpose: This study was to identify the correlation between the health-promoting behavior and life satisfaction in elderly of the urban area. Method: The subjects of this study were 202 people aged over 65 who had been living in urban area. Data was collected through questionnaires from April 10th to September 30th, 2002. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient with SPSS statistical program. Result: The health-promoting behavior was given the informations that nutrition practices were most highly ranked, followed by interpersonal relationships, self-actualization, stress management, health responsibility, and exercise. The mean scores of health-promoting behaviors were significant differences in age and educational level. Life satisfaction was significantly related to only living situation. Health-promoting behavior of the subjects was found to be statistically significant and positively correlated with life satisfaction. Conclusion: These results suggested that elderly people in urban areas with high degree of quality of life is likely to be in practice with high degree of health-promoting behaviors. Therefore, it is necessary to develop health promotion programs in order to enhance the quality of life of elderly people in urban areas.

This study was done in order to analyze the relationship between Health condition, Health concept and Health promoting behavior in College Women. The subjects were 275 students from a college in Kyungbuk. The instruments used for this study were made of General characteristics (8 items), Health condition (3 item), Health concept (20 items) and Health promoting behaviors (40 items). The data were analyzed by SPSS/PC+ program using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Stepwise Regression. The results of this study were as follows. 1. The mean score of the Health promoting behavior was 2.3604. Among the subcategories, the highest degree of performance was interpersonal support (2.9133). 2. Health condition, Heath concept and Health promoting behavior according to general characteristics were as follows. 1)Perceived health condition had statistically significant differences according to board & lodging and living together (p=.040, p=.027). 2)Health concept had a statistically significant differences according to religion (p=.006). 3)Health promoting behavior had statistically significant differences according to age(p=.005). 4)Among the subcategory of Health promoting behavior, statistically significant differences were founded between nutrition and age / board & lodging (p=.004, p=.040), between self actualization and age(p=.006), between health responsibility and age/social economic status(p=.013, p=.000). 5. Correlations of Health condition, Health concept and Health promoting behavior were as follows. 1) BMI was positively correlated with perceived health status(r=.145, p=.015). 2)Health concept was positively correlated with BMI(r=.136, p=.032), perceived health condition(r=.148, p=.015), health promoting behavior (r=.316, p=.000). 6. Correlations of Health condition, Health concept and subcategories of Health promoting behavior were as follows. 1) Perceived health status was positively correlated nutrition (r=.168, p=.006). 2) Health concept was positively correlated with nutrition, stress management, self actualization and interpersonal relationship (r=.153 p=.011, r=.217 p=.000, r=.354 p=.000, r=.193 p=.001). 7. Health concept explained 10.1% of the variance for Health promoting behaviors.
