In this study. the health promotion program consisted of self appointment and confirmation. discussion, health education. group counsel, and exercise. And the program focused on self - help group meeting. A total of 68 subjects was randomly assigned into either the control group(n = 24) or the intervention group(n =44). The results of the study analyzed using a SPSS win, were as follows: 1) In physical function of physical health. there was a significant improvement in flexibility of the shoulder joint(hold the hand upward and downward behind the back). sit and reach, extension of the knee joint in the intervention group, compared to the control group, while no difference in flexibility of the shoulder joint(raising the arm), flexion of the knee joint, and grip strength. There was a significant improvement in physical functional disability in the intervention group, compared to the control group, but no difference in fatigue and pain. 2) The health promotion program resulted in improvement in psychosocial health(e.g. increase of self-efficacy and decreases of social functional disability) in the intervention group, compared to the control group. It was concluded that the health promotion program(weekly session for 6 weeks) employed in this study was appropriate for the clients with arthritis in primary health care center and had a positive effect on health in general.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the costs and benefits of individual home visiting health care using secondary data and literature review. Methods: The total number of subjects was 1,008,837. A specific program was classified into disease management, care of infant, child and women, or elderly care. The costs and effects of a program were identified from a societal perspective, and the effects were converted into monetary terms or benefits. The total cost was calculated in the way that medical expenses, travel costs and productivity losses were offset by the decrease in benefits and thus only the program budget was included in the total cost. Results: The total program cost was 47.6 billion won per year and the total annual benefit was estimated at 435.6 billion won. The benefits of arthritis management were the biggest among disease management programs. The net benefit was 388.0 billion won per year and the benefit/cost ratio was 9.16. Conclusion: Home visiting health care was validated to be economically effective. It made a positive contribution to improving the health status of vulnerable populations and reducing medical expenses. These results suggest that home visiting care should be extended more broadly to vulnerable populations.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the development of health and safety programs by examining child-care teacher's knowledge, self-confidence and practice concerning the health and safety of children under their care. Method: The participants were 72 teachers from 15 child care centers in Seoul City and Chung-Nam Province. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients with SPSS 12.0 Win program. Results: The mean score for self-confidence was lower than knowledge and practice. Self-confidence score about emergency care for falls, fractures and resuscitation were lowest. For safety knowledge, scores about facility and environment were lowest. For health knowledge, scores about disease and symptoms were lowest. For practice, scores about seat belts and safe furniture arrangement were lowest. Significant correlations were found between practice and self-confidence. There were significant differences in the degree of knowledge according to education, and in practice according to age. Conclusions: Health and safety education programs for child care teachers are necessary for the promotion of knowledge, self-confidence and practice in health and safety. The results suggest that health and safety education program should be provided systematically and continuously for child care teachers.
Purpose: This study was done to examine effects of a discharge education program using on-line community on parenting stress, baby care confidence for mothers of premature infants and health problem of premature infants. Methods: Using a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design, 32 participants were assigned to an experimental (17) or a control group (15). Mothers in the experimental group were introduced to the discharge education program 2 weeks before the baby was discharged. They participated in the on-line community for 4 weeks after discharge. Parenting Stress Index and Baby Care Confidence Scale were utilized for data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, and Mann-Whitney U test with the SPSS program 16.0 version. Results: In the experimental group, mean scores for parenting stress were lower than for the control group (Z=-3.176, p=.001), while scores for confidence in baby care were higher than for the control group (Z=-3.195, p=.001). Conclusion: Findings indicate that discharge education programs using on-line community have the positive effect of decreasing parenting stress and increasing baby care confidence for mothers and decreasing health problems for infants. Therefore utilization of the internet and online community to educate parents of premature infants is recommended.

The purpose of this study was to analyzed child care teachers' health state and a relationship between health promoting lifestyle and job stress of child care teachers. The subjects were 101 child care teachers in Busan. They responded to 'health state open ended question', 'health promoting lifestyle scale', and 'job stress scale'. For the analysis of the data, M(SD), frequencies, t-test, Pearson's correlation were run by using SPSS WIN computer program. The major findings of this study were as follows; First, the most uncomfortable symptoms of child care teacher's physical health state was respiratory organs and the main cause was classroom ventilation and dust. The most uncomfortable symptoms of child care teacher's mental health state was tension and the main cause was children's safety. Second, the mean scores of the variables were as follows : the mean score of health promoting lifestyle was 2.54. The highest sub factor of health promoting lifestyle was 'positive self recognition' and the lowest one was 'exercising'. The mean score of job stress was 2.80 and the highest sub factor was 'administration services'. They desire for a healthy life, but in reality, they are unsatisfied with their current health state and they are not able to practice certain actions actively to promote their health. Third, health promoting lifestyle was negatively correlated with job stress. In 2001, as a subject of this study, the first grade 165 kids in Yomju elementary school had been guided in pit and fissure sealant, fluoride rinse, group tooth brushing, and Dental health education as a part of oral disease preventive program. From the data, this author has estimated incremental dental health care program in school dental clinic in order to make it more effective and enlarge it. For that purpose, the program has been continued at six month intervals for two years. The retention condition of pit and fissure sealant in first molar and DMF rate had been investigated. The conclusions are as follows: 1. Full and partial retention of pit and fissure sealant was measured as 80.69% in maxillary right first molar, 83.20% in maxillary left first molar, and 86.72% in mandibular right first molar, and 86.28% in mandibular left first molar. 2. Retention of pit and fissure sealant in first molar was measured as 76.55% in maxillary right first molar, 81.03% in maxillary left first molar, 80.65% in mandibular left first molar, and 82.03% in mandibular right first molar. 3. Among Yomju elementary school students, DMF rate was measured as 8.7%, and DMFT index as 1.03. However, in Yangdong elementary school students the former was measured as 13.8% and the latter as 1.76. When the DMF rate difference between Yomju and Yangdong elementary school kids was considered, the oral health condition of the former was much better than that of the latter because the former had received incremental dental health care program for two years and on the other hand, the latter had not. So it is necessary that we should enlarge school dental clinic, improve and keep students' oral health.
