For the longest time, our government has played an inconsiderable role in the public health services of Korea, especially as it relates to their investment. Voices have cried out against increases in national health expenditure and for more establishment of public medical facilities. In light of this, the necessity and importance of public medical facilities have come into focus amidst the recent medical crisis. When public medical facilities filled in the gap created by the suspension or closure of private hospitals and clinics as a result of this national crisis and acted as a safety net, the demand for more establishment of such facilities increased. Although patient diagnosis and treatment are the first priority of public medical facilities, they must also deal with scopes that private medical facilities do not deal with, dislike, or have difficulty with. In this respect, the closure or privatization of public hospitals to reduce their number just because of their low profits or financial burdens that must be carried by the government is to ignore their innate importance and social role; therefore, we must do all we can to block such efforts and further empower these public health facilities according to demands of the time. The improvement of public health services can be realized by redefining its goals and roles, increasing government funding, strengthening of existing public health facilities and reorganizing the public health services system. Even if public health facilities were to increase their medical services and be reinforced, they cannot take on all the services related to public health services, Therefore, in a country like ours where public health services come second to private health services in the health care system, the health of citizens can be safeguarded only when private and public facilities cooperate and private medical facilities share the social responsibilities. Only the show of interest and effort by government, politicians, health professionals, professional organizations and public can initiate the improvement that is sought.
Purpose: Currently meaning and the needs of the times for the mental health are extensively changing. Contemporary needs for mental health has led to a change in the mental health policy and mental health facilities. But Change on Most of the mental health facilities have been focused on quantitative increase. So, changes in mental health facilities due to changes in mental health policy are needed for the study. This study investigate to the mental health facility system through this changes. Methods: In order to determine the flow of Mental health policy in Korea the mental health laws and reports were investigated Results: the result of this study can be summarized into two points. Korea's mental health policy has changed from the rehabilitation of the mentally ill to the prophylaxis of all the people. So, mental health facilities are changing form rehabilitation facilities in the private sector to public mental health center. Especially, mental medical institutions and mental health center are changing to requirement for the needs of the times. Mental medical institutions are changing from inpatient to outpatient and mental health center are changing from the rehabilitation of the mentally ill to the prophylaxis of all the people. Implications: Understand the flow of mental health policy, mental health facilities and the corresponding need.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing the health status and life satisfaction of elders in welfare facilities. Methods: The subjects of this study were selected randomly among those without cognitive impairment from free (140 persons) and charged (140 persons) welfare facilities in the Yeongnam area. Data was analyzed using t-test and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Health status and life satisfaction were 2.52 and 1.98, respectively, in the elders from free welfare facilities, and 2.67 and 2.08 respectively, in the elders from charged welfare facilities. In those from free facilities, life satisfaction and motivation for getting into the welfare facility were the influencing factors of health status. In those from charged facilities, life satisfaction, gender, motivation for getting into the welfare facility, limited service such as physiotherapy, age, and lack of staff and professionalism were the influence factors of health status. In those from free facilities, health status, relationship conflict with fellow elders, lack of staff and professionalism, insufficient facilities and inadequate environment, and indifference of sons and daughters were the influence factors of life satisfaction. In those from charged facilities, health status, education and age were the influence factors of life satisfaction. Conclusions: It was found that both health status and life satisfaction of elders in charged welfare facilities were higher than those in free welfare facilities.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the health status and life satisfaction of elders in charged and free welfare facilities. Methods: The subjects of this study were selected among those without cognitive impairment from charged (124 persons) and free (126 persons) welfare facilities in D city. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, $x^$ test, and t-test. Results: Subjective health status was significantly higher for the residents in the charged welfare facilities. The data collected indicated significantly higher scores for the residents at charged welfare facilities when questioned regarding the physical health status, sense, personal hygiene, excretion control and activity. The data collected indicated significantly higher scores for the residents at charged welfare facilities when questioned regarding the mental health status, recall of breakfast side dishes, awareness of dates, interests in daily matters, feelings of happiness, feelings of loneliness and depression. Life satisfaction was significantly higher for the residents at the charged welfare facilities. Conclusions: There were significant differences in health status and life satisfaction of elders in charged and free welfare facilities.
Purpose: This study was designed to identify effects of self-esteem and health status on adaptation of elderly residents in facilities. Methods: The sample consisted of 151 elderly residents. The data collected from January to April 2010 were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Using instruments were self-esteem scale (SES) (Rosenberg, 1965), Korean health status measure for the elderly (KoHSME) (Shin et al, 2002), and nursing home adaptation scale (Lee, 2007). Results: The mean scores of self-esteem ($2.90{\pm}0.71$), health status ($2.15{\pm}0.53$) and adaptation ($2.98{\pm}0.44$) of elderly residents in facilities were above the average. Self-esteem was significantly varied according to religion, economic status and living expenses. Health status was significantly different according to age, disease and motivation of getting into the facilities. Adaptation was significantly different according to religion, satisfaction of facilities and decision maker of getting into the facilities. Significant correlations were found between self-esteem, health status and adaptation. Self-esteem and health status were influencing factors of adaptation (22.6%). Conclusion: These findings indicate that perceived self-esteem and health status may be requirements for promoting adaptation of elderly residents in facilities. These results could be utilized in the development of supportive programs for elderly adaptation.
It is widely known that patients' utilization pattern for medical care facilities and the patientflow are influenced by multi-factors, such as demographic characteristics, structural characteristics of society, socio-psychological characteristics(value, attitude, norms, culture, health behavior, etc.), economic characteristics(income, medical price, relative price, physician induced demand, etc.), geographical accessibility, systematic characteristics(health care delivery system, payment methods for physician fees, form of health care security, etc.), and characteristics of medical facilities(reliability, quality of medical care, convenience, kindness, tec.). This study was conducted to research the mechanism of patient-flow according to changes of health care system(implementation of national health insurance, health care referral system and regionalization of health care utilization, etc.) and characteristics of medical facilities(ownership of hospital, characteristics of medical services, non-medical characteristics, etc.). In this study, the fact could be ascertained that the patient-flow had been influenced by changes of health care system and characteristics of medical facilities.

Background: This study focuses on assessing occupational risk for the health hazards encountered during maintenance works (MW) in semiconductor fabrication (FAB) facilities. Objectives: The objectives of this study include: 1) identifying the primary health hazards during MW in semiconductor FAB facilities; 2) reviewing the methods used in evaluating the likelihood and severity of health hazards through occupational health risk assessment (OHRA); and 3) suggesting variables for the categorization of likelihood of exposures to health hazards and the severity of health effects associated with MW in FAB facilities. Methods: A literature review was undertaken on OHRA methodology and health hazards resulting from MW in FAB facilities. Based on this review, approaches for categorizing the exposure to health hazards and the severity of health effects related to MW were recommended. Results: Maintenance workers in FAB facilities face exposure to hazards such as debris, machinery entanglement, and airborne particles laden with various chemical components. The level of engineering and administrative control measures is suggested to assess the likelihood of simultaneous chemical and dust exposure. Qualitative key factors for mixed exposure estimation during MW include the presence of safe operational protocols, the use of air-jet machines, the presence and effectiveness of local exhaust ventilation system, chamber post-purge and cooling, and proper respirator use. Using the risk (R) and hazard (H) codes of the Globally Harmonized System alongside carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic classifications aid in categorizing health effect severity for OHRA. Conclusion: Further research is needed to apply our proposed variables in OHRA for MW in FAB facilities and subsequently validate the findings.
Environmental and public health concern for the emission of air pollutants from burn-up process in waste incineration plants located in the vicinity of living environment was increased during the past decade. The purpose of this study was to suggest of the simple and rapid method of priority setting model for the decision of full-scale public health assessment. This method was consists of total 5-step. Step 1 was "secure the satellite map" and we can use the satellite map which serves from the website such as NAVER Co. Step 2 was "drawing mesh on the map" for catch the point of occupation of environmental sensitivity facilities, and step 3 was "identification and sorting of the facilities", Step 4 was "setting of weight" using the "weighted linear combination (WLC) method". Finally, all facility was sorted by score. As a result, we can set a priority of 145 facilities based on 177 facilities which managed in local government. Facilities in Seoul metropolitan area was high rank in priority list. On the other side, Facilities located at the country or rural area was low rank because of low occupation of the house and the environmental sensitivity facilities such as kindergarten, elementary school, and hospital. In this study, we suggested simple and rapid method that using for screening procedure of public health assessment.
This study was conducted to investigate the changes in patterns of Daegu- and Gyeongbuk-based patients' use of medical care facilities located in Seoul. The 'Patient Survey' data issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for 2002, 2005, and 2008 were used. Among all discharged patients residing in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, 133,456 who used medical facilities in Daegu, Gyeongbuk, and Seoul were selected. Among patients residing in Daegu, 2.2% used medical facilities in Seoul in 2002, 3.7% in 2005, and 3.5% in 2008. The corresponding rates among patients living in Gyeongbuk were 5.6%(2002), 7.1%(2005), and 7.3%(2008). Regarding the ICD-10 disease groups, the use of medical facilities in Seoul by patients residing in either Daegu or Gyeongbuk increased in 2005 right after the introduction of the KTX high-speed train service, covering various disease groups, but decreased again in 2008. 'Neoplasm' cases, however, showed a progressive rising trend during the years studied. Multivariate data analysis for the three years showed that sex, age, payment type, hospital type, residence, year, and disease groups were all significantly associated with the utilization of medical facilities in Seoul. The major results are : First, use of medical facilities in Seoul by Gyeongbuk patients was 2.4-fold higher than that by Daegu patients, but with respect to 2005 and 2008 vs. 2002, use of medical facilities in Seoul by Daegu resident patients' showed a larger increase than that by Gyeongbuk's patients. Second, for patients residing in the two regions, use of medical facilities in Seoul was highest for 'congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities', followed by 'neoplasms'. Third, for patients residing in the two regions, general hospitals comprise the primary factor in the use of medical facilities in Seoul. The study shows that local medical facilities should individually exert more efforts to improve the quality of their medical services. Relevant authorities should likewise help these facilities develop their own unique services and respective specialization.
Purpose: The role and facilities of public health centers responsible for local health are becoming increasingly important due to recurring infectious diseases such as COVID-19. With sudden outbreaks of infectious diseases, the infrastructure of public health center facilities like screening clinics are constructed varies depending on local conditions. resulting in discrepancies between intended usage and actual usage. Establishing guidelines for infectious disease response facilities that can be efficiently used within local communities is necessary. Methods: Field surveys are conducted at 6 public health centers to gather insights into the essential rooms, circulation patterns, and key considerations for space planning in screening clinics. Results: Ten design considerations emerge from the data, including spatial requirements, circulation guidelines, and considerations for accommodating diverse user needs and local conditions. Implications: Further research is needed to translate these guidelines into prototypes of temporary facilities.
