  • The demand of the real-time data was promoted by significant development of network and IT technology. In particular, the entry of an aging society and income growth increase the demand for personal health related data which attempt to provide various and evolutional healthcare services by several healthcare institutions. Especially the presentation of the medical examination result is the most basic healthcare services which should be expressed to maximize understanding in personal health records for their own health. However according to absence of systematic visualization framework and visualization model, intuitive understanding of healthcare related data is difficult. Cosequently In this study, customized visualization representation based on the results of medical examination was provided to aviod consistent format for health examinee and establish a variety of data representations.

The participants of the study include 497 women attending one of the two Municipality Cultural Centers situated in the city center of Sivas. In this study, the sample was not selected; all participants were encompassed within the scope of our research. A total of 418 female course attendees who volunteered to participate in the research were identified as the sample. The data were collected during the months March-June 2011, by a questionnaire developed by the researchers. To compare the distribution of the collected data "Anova", "two independent t test examples" and "chi square test" were used. The research indicates that 45.1% of the women had had gynecological examination as a consequence of a physical disorder. The reason for 54.9% of the women to have gynecological examination is to have been scanned to check for gynecological cancer, 51.2% had a pap smear test. Some 34.9% of them had obtained information about cervical cancer, 39.7% via radio, television or internet and 36.3% from a doctor. Age, education level and marital status of the women participating in this study demonstrated statistically significant correlations (p<0.05) with gynecological examination and undergoing a pap smear test.

  • The health checkup conducted by the National Health Insurance Corporation is aimed at early detection and prevention of diseases. After the screening, you will receive a result sheet, which is a means for smooth communication between the medical staff and the patient. So far, design improvements have been made to the results. However, it is still pointed out that patients have low understanding and cognitive problems. Therefore, in this study, the opinions of the actual users, the medical examiners, and the designers are investigated to improve the design and to propose convenient checkup result sheets. The research method is to investigate the problems of information design research related to the results of the health examination and the user interviews on the results of the current health examination, and to improve the design of the existing results. In addition, we conducted a questionnaire survey on the results of the existing health checkups and the results of the improved checkups by the researchers, and finally designed them by referring to the results. As a result, I got a positive answer that many of the problems pointed out in the existing results were solved.

  • Purpose: Knowing the accurate gestational age(GA) is critical in nursing care of premature infants. A descriptive study was performed to examine the reliability and clinical applicability of the New Ballard examination(NBE) in premature infants. Method: A NBE was performed to measure GA by assessing the neuromuscular and physical maturity in the course of physical examination of a convenient sample of 74 premature infants. Result: 1. The highest item of NBE score was posture (mean=2.82) and the lowest item was breast (mean=1.84). 2. There was a highly correlation between both the GA by LMP(GA-LMP) and GA by NBE (GA-NBE)(r=.844, p=.000). 3. There was a greater positive relationship in neuromuscular maturity than physical maturity in the GA-NBE of the premature infants(r=.786 vs r=.933). 4. There was a positive correlation between neuromuscular, physical, total maturity, GA-LMP and GA-NBE in the birth weight, length, 1, 5 minute apgar score. 5. There was no significant difference neuromuscular, physical, total maturity in NBE by delivery history. Conclusion: The study supports the reliability a clinical relevance of NBE in assessment of the accurate GA in premature infants.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing on patients' participation in their treatment decision making, and influences of patients' experience on their health status. Methods: Data from the 2015 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used for the analysis. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the factors influencing on patients' participation in their treatment decision making. The influences of patients' experience on their health status were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Of the 4,497 respondents, 3,698 (82.2%) respondents mostly participated in their treatment decision making. Those who experienced enough visit duration, physicians' explanation easy enough to understand, or more opportunities to ask were more likely to participate in their treatment decision making. After controlling for their sociodemographic factors and health status, those who had better experience during the outpatient visits were more likely to have better self-rated health or quality of life. Conclusion: To improve patients' health outcomes and satisfaction of health care uses, it is necessary to provide better experiences and expand the opportunities for participation in treatment decision making during their hospital visits.

  • The purpose of this study was to select the manageable diseases which are prevalent in Korea for periodic health examinations and to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of periodic health examination in detecting these diseases. The data was derived from reimbursement data of the Korea Medical Insurance Corporation over a two year period (April 15, 1986 to April 14,1988) and interviews with Yonsei Medical School professors. This study demonstrated that: 1. The manageable diseases which were selected for periodic health examinations are pulmonary tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, diabetes mellitus, syphilis groups, essential hypertension, renal disease groups, and iron deficiency anemia. 2. The sensitivity of the health screening for each disease was as follows: pulmonary tuberculosis 51.5%, viral hepatitis 60.3%, diabetes mellitus 64.7%, syphilis groups 63.3%, essential hypertension 49.9%, renal disease groups 44.0%, and iron deficiency anemia 80.9%. We conclude that peiodic health esaminations should focus on the manageable diseases that we have defined. The number of items in periodic health screening tests and hospital quality control should be increased for the diseases with a demonstrated low sensitivity.
