  • Ultrasonography of shoulder joint recently enlarges its utility since the knowledge of the shoulder disease is increased by numerous researches. Ultrasonography is not only noninvasive, safe, and relatively cheap, but also an unique modality that can monitor tendon movement during shoulder motion. Sonographic examination generally starts from the front side of the shoulder joint and finishes at back side in sitting position. Many structures in shoulder joint such as muscles, ligaments, glenoid labrum, bone, and especially rotator cuff tendon can be examined by ultrasonography. The rotator cuff is a motion unit consisted with subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, and teres minor muscles. It functions as fulcrum and compresses the humeral head onto the glenoid, and steers for shoulder joint.

  • HP(2-20) (AKKVFKRLEKLEKLFSKIQNDK) derived from the N-terminus of Helicobacter pylori Ribosomal Protein L1 shows potent antimicrobial activity against bacterial, fungi and cancer cells without cytotoxic effect. In order to investigate the relationships between antimicrobial activity and the structures, several analogues have been designed and synthesized. The structures of these peptides in SDS micelles have been investigated using NMR spectroscopy and they revealed that analogue 3 has the longest, well-defined alpha-helix from Val5 to Trp19. NOESY experiments performed on HP and its analogues in nondeuterated SDS micelles show that protons in the indole ring of Trp16 are in close contact with methylene protons of SDS micelles. In order to probe the position of HP and its analogues relative to the SDS micelles, spin-labeled stearate was added. Large effects are observed for the chemical shifts and the intensities of Phe5, Glu9, Phe12, and Trp16 within the helix region by 16-doxylstearate. This result implies that 16-doxylstearate is located in the center of the micelles and the hydrophobic phase of the amphiphilic ${\alpha}$-helix is located in contact with the acyl chains of the micelles. Also, Lys3 and Lys4 at N-terminus and Lys20 at C-terminus may produce an optimal arrangement for electrostatic interactions between the sulfate head groups of the SDS and the positively charged lysyl N$\sub$3/$\^$+/. Interactions between the indole ring of Trp and the membrane, as well as the amphiphilic ${\alpha}$-helical structure of HP induced by Trp at the C-terminus may allow HP to span the lipid bilayer. These structural features are crucial for their potent antibiotic activities.

  • We have conclusions after the study of muscular system about small intestine channel of hand taiyang muscle. Judging from many studies of interrelation between Meridian muscle and muscle, it is considered that Meridian muscle theory has some similarities with modern anatomical muscular system. It is considered that Small intestine channel of hand taiyang muscle contains Flexor digitorum profundus muscle, Extensor digiti minimi muscle, Abductor digiti minimi muscle, Extensor carpi ulnaris muscle, Flexor carpi ulnaris muscle, Triceps brachii muscle, Infraspinatus muscle, Levator scapulae muscle, Sternocleidomastoid muscle, Masseter muscle, Temporalis muscle. The symptoms of small intestine channel of hand taiyang muscle is similar to referred pain of modern Myofascial Pain Syndrome, and the medical treatment of "I Tong Wi Su(以痛爲輸)" is also similar to that of Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Small intestine channel of hand taiyang muscle is one of the three yang channels of hand muscle, and it has unity in extension of upper limb and trunk in the movement. And it is thought that weakness of small intestine channel of hand taiyang muscle is related with muscular system causing Round Shoulder and Head Forward Position.

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop a postural-stability patient transfer technique for care helpers in nursing homes and to evaluate its effectiveness. Methods: Four types of patient transfer techniques (Lifting towards the head board of the bed, turning to the lateral position, sitting upright on the bed, transferring from wheel chair to bed) were practiced in accordance with the following three methods; Care helpers habitually used transfer methods (Method 1), patient transfer methods according to care helper standard textbooks (Method 2), and a method developed by the author ensuring postural-stability (Method 3). The care helpers' muscle activity and four joint angles were measured. The collected data were analyzed using the program SPSS Statistic 21.0. To differentiate the muscle activity and joint angle, the Friedman test was executed and the post-hoc analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Results: Muscle activity was significantly lower during Method 3 compared to Methods 1 and 2. In addition, the joint angle was significantly lower for the knee and shoulder joint angle while performing Method 3 compared to Methods 1 and 2. Discussion: Findings indicate that using postural-stability patient transfer techniques can contribute to the prevention of musculoskeletal disease which care helpers suffer from due to physically demanding patient care in nursing homes.

  • Purpose: To investigate the incidence and prevalence of C-shaped root canal using computed tomographic images of head and neck in Korean population. Materials and Methods : Regardless of each examination purpose, randomly selected 268 examples which have serial axial computed tomographic images with 8 normal molars in maxilla and mandible were selected and investigated. Defined C-shaped root canal and we could get 82 proper image examples in view of this definition. These were detected and investigated of incidence and prevalence of C-shaped root canal. Results: C-shaped root canals were found in 82 examples among 268 (30.6%) and 147 teeth. They were only found on molar area, and the highest incidence was 37.41% of left mandibular second molars, and the lowest was 2.04% of right maxillary second molars. On prevalence of tooth position, mandibular second molar was the highest, 65% of C-shaped root canal teeth and maxillary second molar was 6% the lowest. Conclusion: 31% of randomly selected CT images no considering check-up reason have C-shaped root canals. The C-shaped root canals of mandibular second molar are found most frequently and they are also detectable on maxilla. On Korean population, C-shaped root canals are one of conditions that have to concern with dental treatment for it appears at a high prevalence relatively. • Fractionated stereotactic radiosurguy (FSRS) requires precise and reproducible patient set up. For these reasons non-invasive mask fixation methods have been used in Linac based FSRS. In this study, we measured and assessed the isocenter reproducibility using a commercial head mask fixation system based on thermoplastic materials. For the verification and the measurement of isocenter deviation a special acrylic brain phantom was designed. The designed phantom has 22 vertical rods and each rod has different lengths. At the end of the 8 rods, the monochromic film is attached and irradiated due to planned target position. Deviations of isocenter were measured separately for each direction. The mean deviation showed 0.4 mm in longitudinal direction, 0.1 mm in the lateral direction, 0.1 mm in the anterior-posterior direction of the treatment couch. The data demonstrates the high accuracy and reproducibility. This study reinforces previous literature published.

  • Background: The aim of this study is to validate a new three-dimensional craniofacial stereophotogrammetry imaging system (3dMDface) through comparison with manual facial surface anthropometry. The null hypothesis was that there is no difference between craniofacial measurements using anthropometry vs. the 3dMDface system. Methods: Facial images using the new 3dMDface system were taken from six randomly selected subjects, sitting in natural head position, on six separate occasions each 1 week apart, repeated twice at each sitting. Exclusion criteria were excess facial hair, facial piercings and undergoing current dentofacial treatment. 3dMDvultus software allowed facial landmarks to be marked and measurements recorded. The same measurements were taken using manual anthropometry, using soluble eyeliner to pinpoint landmarks, and sliding and spreading callipers and measuring tape to measure distances. The setting for the investigation was a dental teaching hospital and regional (secondary and tertiary care) cleft centre. The main outcome measure was comparison of the craniofacial measurements using the two aforementioned techniques. Results: The results showed good agreement between craniofacial measurements using the 3dMDface system compared with manual anthropometry. For all measurements, except chin height and labial fissure width, there was a greater variability with the manual method compared to 3D assessment. Overall, there was a significantly greater variability in manual compared with 3D assessments (p < 0.02). Conclusions: The 3dMDface system is validated for craniofacial measurements.

  • The purpose of this dissertation is to positively analyze the characteristics of job center consultants' interorganizational relations and factors that influence this linkage in order to better understand the employment service of South Korea. The material utilized for analysis was collected by surveying consultants and managers of 38 job centers and 364 middle managers while applying the method of hierarchical regression. The following is the summary of the research results. First, there is a difference in the influence factor between the number of consultant's organization linkage and frequency of contact. As seen from this result, if the number of organizations a consultant links is affected by the organization's objective working conditions such as the organization structure, position, and primary responsibilities, then the frequency of contact which indicates intimacy by frequent contact depends on the professional ability of the person in charge rather than objective conditions. Second, the analysis result of influence factors according to the type of organization also displayed different influence factors based on the type. Public organizations and economics related organizations are existent in all areas in the form of municipal offices, public corporation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and labor organizations. Therefore, rather than the personal ability of the person in charge or the influence of other work environments, information of the organization and the actual activities of the head are more influential. On the other hand, private organizations embrace service organizations, employment target related organizations, corporations; they are differentially distributed, which is why they are more influential in organizational reform, decentralization, communication, and the professional ability of the person in charge is significantly influential.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the immediate effect of applying self-myofascial release (SMR) to the plantar fascia using a foam roller on hamstring and lumbar spine superficial back line (SBL). Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Thirty-one healthy adults agreed to the method and purpose of the study. Selection and exclusion criteria were screened, and baseline measurements for the Toe Touch test and passive straight leg raise (PSLR) test were obtained. The participants were then randomly assigned to the SMR group or the sham group. After group assignment, the SMR group rolled the surface of the foot from the heel to the metatarsal head using a foam roller for 5 minutes. The sham group received passive mobilization of the ankle joint in the supine position. Afterwards, the Toe Touch test and the passive straight leg-raise test were re-assessed. Results: In the SMR group, the Toe Touch test results showed significant improvement (p<0.05). Left and right PSLR test results showed a significant increase (p<0.05). In the sham group, there was no significant difference between pre and post-test results. The SMR group showed a significant difference in the PSLR test and Toe Touch test compared to the sham group (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study showed that SMR on the plantar fascia was immediately effective for improving the flexibility of the SBL of the lumbar spine and hamstring.
