  • 철강용융아연욕의 상부와 하부의 부유물들을 모으는 방법과 이들을 용융 환원에 의해 회수하는 방안에 관련된 여러 가지 연구 및 특허기술 자료로 발표되고 있으나, 이제까지 현장에 적용된 작업모델을 개발하지 못했다. 본 논문에서는 철강공정 인체유해 작업용 로봇이 영상에 기반한 부유물 인식을 위해 가장 효율적인 인식 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

  • MF is a half shaft blast furnace which has been developed at Mitsui Miike Smelter in the 1960’s to treat vertical retort residue. The MF has also been tested for treatment of various recycling materials and wastes. Now various secondaries and wastes (EAF dust, zinc leaching residue, Cu sludge, etc ) are mainly treated. Powder materials are briquetted with reductant before being fed to the furnace. Products are crude zinc oxide, matte, non-hazardous slag and steam. Zinc and lead are recovered in oxide dust, and copper and silver are recovered in matte. The MF can be widely applied to many kinds of materials which contain such non-ferrous metal-valuables. In addition, the improvement in operation and technology has effectively made the unit capacity much larger. The MF now has many advantages for these treatment processes.

Tannic acid를 이용한 전자현미경 (TEM) 염색효과 (Electron Microscopic Stain Effect by Tannic acid)

  • Using mouse tissue, we studied electron opacity effect of tannic acid for transmission electron microscopic staining. Tannic acid-glutaraldehyde in 0.1M phosphate buffer was used as a fixative. To compare with this we have tested another method consisting of heavy metal staining after treatment of tannic acid in sodium tetraborate (borax) on glutaraldehyde-fixed sections. We have achieved equally consistent electron opacity in both methods. The elastin, collagen, basal lamina of skin and gap junctions of the epithelial cells gave excellent results, while it was good for glycogen, cilia, and plasma. Also fat cells and lipid droplets gave good preservation when tannic acid was added in the fixative. However, prolonged fixation in tannic acid-added fixative was hazardous for further processing, i.e., sectioning problem and deep electron opacity background.

  • The subject of this study, Eco-friendly Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane Coating of Exposed Type is manufactured by replacing environmental hazardous substance such as Toluene, Dioctyl Phthalate with Dimethyl Carbonate, waste-soybean oil. As part of existing filler is also replaced with waste-rubber chip and waste-soybean oil. As a result of environment friendly tests, in test of detection of VOCs case was contented with the Ministry of Environment standards at 5% below. Testing methods for heavy metal extracted was contented with standards for official wastes test method. So it is judged that environment friendly is secured.

폐플라스틱/제강 Dust 성형제의 용출안전성에 대한 연구 (Elution Safety of Recycled Plastic/EAF Dust Composites by Using Leaching Test)

  • In this study, We have investigated leaching characteristics of heavy metals for recycled plastic composites containing EAF(Electric Arc Furnace) dust & EAF slag. EAF dust & EAF slag used that is generated in the 3 steel-making compaines in domestic. The physical and chemical properties of EAF dust & slag was examined by measuring specific surface area. porosity, oil absorption test and chemical wetting analysis etc. Results of total analysis indicated that EAF dust, slag contained significant amount of hazardous metals such as Cu, Pb, Cd and Cr. But, In the leaching test of the recycled plastic composites containing EAF dust, slag by Korean Standard Leaching Procedure, composites shows much lower leaching concentration of heavy metals. It was concluded that the recycled plastic composites containing EAF dust, slag showed good physical and chemical characteristics. This means that the EAF dust, slag can be effectively used as a functional filler.

Synergistic Effect on the Photocatalytic Degradation of 2-Chlorophenol Using $TiO_2$Thin Films Doped with Some Transition Metals in Water

  • The metallorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method has been used to prepare TiO2 thin films for the degradation of hazardous organic compounds, such as 2-chlorophenol (2-CP). The effect of supporting materials and metal doping on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 thin films also has been studied. TiO2 thin films were coated onto various supporting materials, including stainless steel cloth(SS), quartz glass tube (QGT), and silica gel (SG). Transition metals, such as Pd(II), Pt(IV), Nd(III) and Fe(III), were doped onto TiO2 thin film. The results indicate that Nd(Ⅲ) doping improves the photodegradation of 2-CP. Among all supporting materials studied, SS(37 ${\mu}m)$ appears to be the best support. An optimal amount of doping material at 1.0 percent (w/w) of TiO2-substrate thin film gives the best photodegration of 2-CP.

저항변화식 가스센서 선택성 향상을 위한 멤브레인 및 촉매 연구동향 (Research Progress in Membrane and Catalyst for Highly Selective Chemiresistive Gas Sensors)

  • Direct exposure to toxic and hazardous gases has always been considered as the most pervasive problem worldwide, leading to a gradual increase in the number of asthma patients due to NOx/SOx gases inhaling and exposure to 50 ppm formaldehyde gases. Therefore, the development of accurate gas sensors is a key issue for resolving these problems. To address such issues, the development of membranes for selective filtering of target molecules as well as nanocatalyst for enhancing the sensing selectivity is highly crucial. In this review, the research progress for porous membrane materials (e.g. MOFs, and graphene) and nanocatalyst technology for the development of selective and accurate gas sensors will be discussed.

Effects of Heavy Metal Contamination from an Abandoned Mine on Tomato Growth and Root-knot Nematode Development

  • Physicochemical characteristics and heavy metal content of soils located along the drainage way of an abandoned mine at Busan, Korea ($35^{\circ}31'N$, $129^{\circ}22'E$) (contaminated soil; CS) and uncontaminated soils (50-70 m apart from the drainage way) (NS) were examined. Growth of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicom cv. Rutgers) in CS and NS, development of the root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) as root-knot gall formation on tomato plants, and non-parasitic nematode populations in soil were also examined. Growth of tomato plants, root-knot gall formation, and non-parasitic nematode populations were significantly reduced in CS with higher As content, lower pH, higher electrical conductivity (EC), and lower available phosphate (av. $P_2O_5$) than in NS. None of the other physicochemical characters examined differed significantly between CS and NS (low and no significance) and were above or below the critical levels detrimental to plant growth and nematode development, suggesting that As may be the primary hazardous heavy metal in CS. The toxicity of As might be enhanced at low pH in CS because exchangeable forms of some heavy metals increase with the decrease of soil pH. The heavy metals, especially As, may have contributed to increasing EC and decreasing av. $P_2O_5$. Therefore, the effects of mine drainage contamination from the abandoned mine were derived primarily from contamination by heavy metals such as As. These may have been enhanced in toxicity (solubility) by the lowered pH, increased soil salinity (EC) and decreased av. $P_2O_5$. Our results suggest synergistic adverse effects on the plant and the nematode by decreasing osmotic potential and nutrient availability.

산업공정폐기물 중 규제대상 중금속류의 함량 특성 (Characteristics of Regulated Heavy Metals Content in Wastes Emitted from Industrial Processes)

  • 본 연구에서는 사업장에서 발생되는 지정폐기물 중 폐기물관리법상 규제되고 있는 유해물질류 7종의 함량 특성을 조사하였다. Cu, Pb 등과 같이 규제되고 있는 중금속의 배출 가능성이 높은 표본사업장을 선정하여 9개 업종, 90개 사업장에서 슬러지, 폐촉매 등 폐기물 종류별 시료 108건을 채취 분석하였다. 분석방법은 선진국의 분석방법을 토대로 제안한 함량시험방법으로 분석하였고 그 결과는 함량기준으로 관리하고 있는 오스트리아의 규제기준과 비교검토하였다. 그 결과 Cu는 모든 업종에서 비교적 높은 농도로 검출되었으며, 특히 코크스.석유정제품 제조업, 1차 금속산업, 전자부품, 영상, 음향 및 통신장비제조업에서 발생된 오니, 분진, 소각재 등의 폐기물이 오스트리아 기준 100 mg/kg 보다 높은 농도로 나타났다. Pb은 1차 금속산업에서 발생된 분진에서 높은 농도로 검출되었으며 총 크롬의 경우에는 상업분류코드 18, 19, 23 등에서 높은 농도로 나타났다. 또한 Cr(VI)을 분석한 결과, 봉제의복 및 모피 산업에서 발생된 분진에서 높은 농도를 나타나는 것으로 조사되었다.

국내유통 돈분액비의 화학성 및 중금속 함량 (Chemical Composition and Heavy Metal Contents in Commercial Liquid Pig Manures)

  • Heavy metal concentration as well as chemical composition were surveyed in commercial liquid pig manure to provide the basic information for mitigation research of hazardous material to agro-product. Seventy-five samples of liquid pig manure were collected and analyzed from 2009 to 2010 nationwide. Average contents of T-N, $P_2O_5$, and $K_2O$ were 0.29%, 0.08%, and 0.11%, respectively. The contents of heavy metals ranged from 0.001~0.083 for As, 0.001~0.108 for Cd, 0.002~0.495 for Cr, 0.07~47.8 for Cu, ND~0.005 for Hg, 0.035~1.033 for Ni, ND~0.291 for Pb, and $0.75{\sim}342.4mg\;L^{-1}$ for Zn, respectively. It was noted that among 75 samples, only four samples exceeded the Zn guideline ($130mg\;L^{-1}$) of liquid fertilizer derived from livestock manure but others were not exceeded the regulation.
