This paper presents the aerodynamic coefficient modeling with a new model structure explored by Least Squares using Modulating Function Technique (LS/MFT) for an F-16XL airplane using wind tunnel data supplied by NASA/LRC. A new model structure for aerodynamic coefficient was proposed, one that considered all possible combination terms of angle of attack ${\alpha}$(t) and ${\alpha}$(t) given number of harmonics K, and was compared with Pearson's model, which has the same number of parameters as the new model. Our new model harmonic results show better agreement with the physical data than Pearson's model. The number of harmonics in the model was extended to 6 and its parameters were estimated by LS/MFT. The model output of lift coefficient with K=6 correspond reasonably well with the physical data. In particular, the estimation performances of four aerodynamic coefficients were greatly improved at high frequency by considering all harmonics included in the input${\alpha}$(t), and by using the new model. In addition, the importance of each parameter in the model was analyzed by parameter reduction errors. Moreover, the estimation of three parameters, i.e., amplitude, phase and frequency, for a pure sinusoid and a finite sum of sinusoids- using LS/MFT is investigated.
A noncollinear-phase-matching cone of second harmonic generation(SHG) was observed in a LiNbO3 crystal doped with l mol% MgO. Birefringence refractive indices can be accurately evaluated by analysing the temperature phase matching characteristic for SHG combined with the measurement of the half cone angle. The electro-optic coefficient can also be determined form the observed change of the half cone angle when a DC electric field is applied along the optic axis.

Impact occurs when the vibration amplitude of a mechanical component exceeds a given clearance size. Examples of these mechanical systems include impact dampers, gears, link mechanism, rotor rub, and so on. The vibration due to impact has strong non-linear characteristics, which cannot be predicted by usual linear analysis. The designs of mechanical systems with impacts should be done on the basis of overall dynamic characteristics of the systems. In this paper, the nonlinear behaviors of a beam with a periodically moving support and a rigid stop are investigated numerically and experimentally. The beam vibration with impact is modeled by the equations of motion containing piecewise linear restoring forces and by the coefficient of restitution, respectively. Experimental and numerical results show jump phenomena and higher-harmonic vibrations. The effects between the increase of stiffness during impact and the coefficient of restitution are investigated through the comparison of the experimental and numerical results.

We synthesized three kinds of chromophores incorporating aromatic quinoline unit as a $\pi-conjugated$ bridge in order to prepare more thermally stable nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophores than general stilbene unit. The NLO poly(methylmethacrylate) copolymer, polyimides, and polyester were successfully synthesized by these corresponding quinoline-based monomers. Their physical and optical properties were investigated by thermogravimetry, gel permeation chromatography, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, second harmonic generation (SHG) and electro-optic (EO) measurement. All the polymers exhibited better thermal stability, however their NLO activity was a little lower than that of general stilbene-based NLO polymers. Among three kinds of polymers, the PMMA copolymer with quinoline chromophores had the largest SHG coefficient d33 value of 27 pm/V (at 1.064 $\mu\textrm{m})$ and EO coefficient r33 value of 6.8 pm/V (at 1.3 $\mu\textrm{m}$).

Small MR dampers with a simple structure were designed and manufactured. The Bingham model was used to represent the dynamic characteristics of the damper, and the parameters of the model were estimated from experimental data which were obtained by harmonic tests. The value of the estimated yield shear force remains positive when no electric current is applied, and it increases slowly with the current. The estimated viscous damping coefficient has a value close to zero when no electric current is applied, and it increases almost linearly with the current.

In this paper, the iron loss was calculated using estimated iron loss coefficient at 650W Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) and 250W IPMSM. The iron loss coefficients was estimated different according to electrical steel material used to stator and rotor core in motor. Aspect of The rotating flux field and alternating flux field was confirmed by magnetic field behavior and harmonic analysis in stator core, the iron loss was calculated using flux density by Finite Element Method(FEM) and estimated coefficients by iron loss coefficient estimation proposed in this paper. The iron loss experiment was performed for verified to iron loss calculation, and the iron loss coefficients were verified by comparison of iron loss calculation value and experimental value.
Poling condition in 2 mol% MgO-doped $LiNbO_3$ crystals is investigated by varying the amplitude of poling electric field from 3V/cm to 7V/cm. It is found that 5V/cm is the best value for the formation of single domain by analysing the characteristics of the second harmonic generation(SHG) as the function of temperature. The temperature dependence of the phase-matching profile of SHG for the crystal applied by a spatially modulated electric field is observed to be very different from the simple sinc function. The distorted profile can be consistently fitted with the numerical simulations. This shows that the crystal homogeneity can be tested by the SHG temperature phase-matching profile. In addition, the thermo birefringence coefficient and electro birefringence coefficient of SHG were measured from the temperature dependence of phase-matching profile and shifts of phase-matching temperature by appling electric field along c-axis.

In this paper, separate probabilistic distribution models for voiced and unvoiced speech are estimated and utilized to improve speaker recognition performance. Also, in addition to the conventional mel-frequency cepstral coefficient, skewness, kurtosis, and harmonic-to-noise ratio are extracted and used for voiced speech intervals. Two kinds of scores for voiced and unvoiced speech are linearly fused with the optimal weight found by exhaustive search. The performance of the proposed speaker recognizer is compared with that of the conventional recognizer which uses mel-frequency cepstral coefficient and a unified probabilistic distribution function based on the Gassian mixture model. Experimental results show that the lower the number of Gaussian mixture, the greater the performance improvement by the proposed algorithm.

If there are metals located in the X-ray scanned object, a point outside the metals has its range of projection angle at which projections passing through the point are disturbed by the metals. Roughly speaking, this implies that attenuation information at the point is missing in the blocked projection range. So conventional projection completion MAR algorithms to use the undisturbed projection data on the boundary of the metaltrace is less efficient in reconstructing the attenuation coefficient in detailed parts, in particular, near the metal region. In order to overcome this problem, we propose the algebraic correction technique (ACT) to utilize a pre-reconstructed interim image of the attenuation coefficient outside the metal region which is obtained by solving a linear system designed to reduce computational costs. The reconstructed interim image of the attenuation coefficient is used as prior information for MAR. Numerical simulations support that the proposed correction technique shows better performance than conventional inpainting techniques such as the total variation and the harmonic inpainting.
