A Real-time Single-Pass Visibility Culling Method Based on a 3D Graphics Accelerator Architecture (실시간 단일 패스 가시성 선별 기법 기반의 3차원 그래픽스 가속기 구조)

  • An occlusion culling method, one of visibility culling methods, excludes invisible objects or triangles which are covered by other objects. As it reduces computation quantity, occlusion culling is an effective method to handle complex scenes in real-time. But an existing common occlusion culling method, such as hardware occlusion query method, sends objects' data twice to GPU and this causes processing overheads once for occlusion culling test and the other is for rendering. And another existing hardware occlusion culling method, VCBP, can test objects' visibility quickly, but it neither test bounding volume nor return test result to application stage. In this paper, we propose a single pass occlusion culling method which uses temporal and spatial coherency, with effective occlusion culling hardware architecture. In our approach, the hardware performs occlusion culling test rapidly with cache on the rasterization stage where triangles are transformed into fragments. At the same time, hardware sends each primitive's visibility information to application stage. As a result, the application stage reduces data transmission quantity by excluding covered objects using the visibility information on previous frame and hierarchical spatial tree. Our proposed method improved maximum 44%, minimum 14% compared with S&W method based on hardware occlusion query. And the performance is increased 25% and 17% respectively, compared to maximum and minimum performance of CHC method which is based on occlusion culling method.

Decoupled Controller Design of Small Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and Performance Test using HILS (소형 자율 수중 운동체의 비연성 제어기 설계 및 HILS 기법을 이용한 성능 평가)

  • In this paper, decoupled controller design for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle(AUV) and its simulated performance test results and Hardware In the Loop Simulation(HILS) results are presented. Control system design is done using the PD control scheme. Stability analysis and step response of closed loop system under uncertain parameter condition are also presented. The results of full coupled nonlinear model simulation show the well applicability of the designed controller. From the results of HILS, we can verify performance of real time processing and implemented hardware for AUV.

  • Recently, as the road capacity reaches the limit and environmental problems becomes serious, there is gradually increased a need for railroad vehicles that are environment-friendly and have time regularity, reliability and safety. Accordingly, in addition to conventional railroad vehicles, lots of vehicles are being newly developed. We developed the hardware and software of the measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of korean hish speed train. The software controls the hardware of the measurement data and acts as interface between users and the system hardware. In this paper, we is studied for electric apparatus performance of railway vehicle using sensor. In order to this test is developed signal conversion system. Using this system, we obtained important result for pantograph voltage, battery voltage, axle speed, and running speed.

  • Avionics system designed for the 200 kg-class tiltrotor UAV has been developed. Avionics system for the UAV is the reconstruct system and can be programmed automation controller. This paper focuses on the design aspects of the hardware and presents the ground and flight test results. The hardware aspects of the avionics system include details about the hardware configurations for the interfaces with the Digital Flight Control Computer, sensors and Line-replaceable unit modifications.

  • A relaying board is developed for the study of digital relay, which is based on Digital Signal Processor(DSP). The present development is capable of understanding and application for digital relay hardware. To support the design of relaying hardware, first A/D convertor MMI and serial port for communication are embedded, and next a booting cables of three types are supplied. More particularly the relaying board that is convinient to test digital relaying algorithm. This paper concludes by implementing the distance relaying algorithm into a relaying board, the hardware test results show practically high performance.

  • This paper describes a simulation model and scaled hardware model to analyze the dynamic performance of Unified Power Flow Controller, which adjust flexibly the active and reactive power flow through the ac transmission line. The design of control system was developed using vector control method. The results of simulation and scaled hardware test show that the developed control system works accurately. And both models are very effective to analyze the dynamic performance of the Unified Power Flow Controller.

  • In a previous paper, the distance relay algorithm for protecting of the underground power cable system was introduced. It effectively advance the errors using ACI(Advanced Computing Intelligence) technique. In this algorithm, the optimization was performed by fuzzy inference system and genetic algorithm. In this paper, hardware system based on ACI technique is introduced and tested by hardware test.

In this paper, practical experiment are performed to verify mechanical performance of motor and main transformer for Korean high speed rail. The experimental test carried out by using new temperature measurement method and verify the temperature performance of motor and transformer is verified.

  • In this paper, we introduce the software and hardware of the measurement system for on-line testing and evaluation of high speed railway. The test items focus on the verification of the performance and acquirement of the technical data of the high speed railway system. The software controls the hardware of the measurement system, perform the analysis and calculation of measurement data and acts as interface between users and the system hardware. For this purpose, three programs a measuring program, a monitoring program and post-processing program are developed. The detailed test scenario is in the process of development to closely follow the process of development and design of the system.
