Future Internet should support more efficient mobility management, flexible traffic engineering and various emerging new services. So, lots of traffic engineering techniques have been suggested and developed, but it's impossible to apply them on the current running commercial Internet. To overcome this problem, OpenFlow protocol was proposed as a technique to control network equipments using network controller with various networking applications. It is a software defined network, so researchers can verify their own traffic engineering techniques by applying them on the controller. In addition, for high-speed packet processing in the OpenFlow network, programmable NetFPGA card with four 1G-interfaces and commercial Procurve OpenFlow switches can be used. In this paper, we implement an OpenFlow test-bed using hardware-accelerated NetFPGA cards and Procurve switches on the KREONET, and implement CSPF (Constraint-based Shortest Path First) algorithm, which is one of popular QoS routing algorithms, and apply it on the large-scale testbed to verify performance and efficiency of multimedia traffic engineering scheme in Future Internet.

According to the change of the traffic conditions, the requirement of controlling the separated left(or right) turn, the median bus lane and bicycle signal is increasing. However, the traffic signal controller standard based on the four-set lights restricts to control the three-set lights which control the separated direction and kind of traffics. This study suggests the method to control the three-set lights signal by improving the hardware and software for the traffic signal controller which is operated currently in the traffic scene. The 6 output ports of Load Signal Unit(LSU) which is consisted of Pedestrian Red, Pedestrian Green, Red, Yellow, Arrow and Green signal reconstitute 2 rows of the Red, Yellow, Green for three-set lights while the Signal Map data's code values which control the signal step of an individual Ring and LSU are established to adjust the LSU's output ports(R1 Y1 G1 R2 Y2 G2) of the three-set lights. The effect of using the separated through/left turn and the median lane bus signal of three-set lights is analyzed from a Mangwoo intersection in Seoul. The results of analysis show that the delay time of the east-west direction where the median bus lane is operated is especially improved with over 70 sec/veh.

In this paper, we propose the structure of a high-performance face-detection engine that responds well to facial rotating changes using rotation transformation which minimize the required memory usage compared to the previous face-detection engine. The validity of the proposed structure has been verified through the implementation of FPGA. For high performance face detection, the MCT (Modified Census Transform) method, which is robust against lighting change, was used. The Adaboost learning algorithm was used for creating optimized learning data. And the rotation transformation method was added to maintain effectiveness against face rotating changes. The proposed hardware structure was composed of Color Space Converter, Noise Filter, Memory Controller Interface, Image Rotator, Image Scaler, MCT(Modified Census Transform), Candidate Detector / Confidence Mapper, Position Resizer, Data Grouper, Overlay Processor / Color Overlay Processor. The face detection engine was tested using a Virtex5 LX330 FPGA board, a QVGA grade CMOS camera, and an LCD Display. It was verified that the engine demonstrated excellent performance in diverse real life environments and in a face detection standard database. As a result, a high performance real time face detection engine that can conduct real time processing at speeds of at least 60 frames per second, which is effective against lighting changes and face rotating changes and can detect 32 faces in diverse sizes simultaneously, was developed.

Smart appliances with multi-media and telecommunication equipments provide users complicated convenience functions. On the contrary, 8-bit controller-based low performance electronics still cannot afford such multimedia and telecommunication. If we find a way to have low-end electronics connected and provide complicated functions, they can be also made "smart". Fortunately, 8-bit controllers used in low-end appliances have UART, which can be connected to any of BlueTooth, Wi-Fi and ZigBee communication modules which can, in turn, communicate with smart devices. Any communication module can be attached to the low-end electronics due to the variety of smart devices' connectivity at the other side. Although the convenience functions seem complicated, they are actually macros in a script form composed of micro commands which implement the base functions of appliances. Since the kinds of the base functions are not that many, the low-end electronic appliances will become "smart" if their control program can be extended to execute sequentially the micro commands in any combination. Such simple innovation has not seen the world, until now due to the overhead of the additionally required hardware such as display devices and buttons. The high-quality display and touch screen functionalities of smart devices can replace the required hardware, and remove the overhead completely. In fact, the low-end appliances become smart as if an "evolution kit" is newly equipped.
This study was conducted to develop an on-line monitoring system for a forest hydrological environment and its meteorological condition, such as temperature, wind direction and speed, rainfall and water level on V-notch, electrical conductivity(EC), potential of hydrogen(PH) by the motor drive sensor unit and measurement with a single-chip microprocessor as controller. These results are summarized as follows ; 1. The monitoring system consists of a signal process unit, motor drive sensor unit, radio modem unit and power supply. 2. The motor drive sensor unit protects the sensor from swift current or freezing and can constantly maintain fixed water level during measurements. 3. This monitoring system can transfer the data by radio modem. Additionally, this system can monitor hydrological conditions in real time. 4. The hardware was made of several modules with an independent CPU. They can be mounted, removed, repaired and added to. Their function can be changed and expanded. 5. These are the result of an accuracy test, the values of temperature, EC and pH measured within an error range of ${\pm}0.2^{\circ}C$, ${\pm}1{\mu}S$ and ${\pm}0.1pH$ respectively. 6. This monitoring system proved to be able to measure various factors for a forest hydrological environment in various experimental stations.

Recently, software-based programmable logic controller (PLC) systems, which are implemented in standard PLC languages on general hardware, are gaining popularity because they overcome the limitations of classical hardware PLC systems. Another noticeable trend is that the use of integrated development environment (IDE) is becoming important. IDEs can help developers to easily manage the growing complexity of modern control systems. Furthermore, industrial Ethernet, e.g. EtherCAT, is becoming widely accepted as a replacement for conventional fieldbuses in the distributed control domain because it offers favorable features such as short transmission delay, high bandwidth, and low cost. In this paper, we implemented the extension of open source IDE, called Beremiz, for developing EtherCAT-based real-time, synchronized motion control applications. We validated the EtherCAT system management features and the real-time responsiveness of the control function by using commercial EtherCAT drives and evaluation boards.

VOD(video on demand) is a video service by users' order, that is, a video service on demand. That means the users can select and watch the video content that has been saved on sewer, out of broadcasting in the usual process like TV. At present the client of VOD system bases on PC. As the PC-based client uses the software MPEG decoder, the main processor specification has an effect on the capacity. Also people, who don't know how to use their PC, cannot be provided the VOD service. The purpose of this paper is to show the process of the development the VOD client system Into the embedded type with hardware MPEG-4 decoder. The main processor is the SC1200 of x86 Family in National Semiconductor with a built-in video processor and the memory is 128Mbyte SDRAM. Also, in order that the VOD service can be provided using the Internet, the Ethernet controller is included. As the hardware MPEG-4 decoder is used in the embedded VOD client system, which is developed, it can make the low capacity of the main processor. Therefore it is able to be developed as a low-price system. The embedded VOD client system is easy for anyone to control easily with the remote control and can be played through TV.
Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) developed an satellite laser ranging (SLR) system for tracking space objects using ultra-pulsed lasers. For the safe operation of SLR system, aircraft surveillance radar system (ASRS) was developed to prevent human damage from high power laser transmitted from the SLR system. The ASRS consists of the radar hardware subsystem (RHS) and main control subsystem (MCS), in order to detect flying objects in the direction of laser propagation and then stop immediately the laser transmission. The RHS transmits the radio frequency (RF) pulse signals and receives the returned signals, while the MCS analyzes the characteristics of received signals and distinguishes the existence of flying objects. If the flying objects are determined to be existed, the MCS sends the command signal to the laser controller in SLR system to pause the laser firing. In this study, we address the interface and operational scenarios of ASRS, including the design of RHS and MCS. It was demonstrated in the aircraft experiments that the ASRS could detect an aircraft and then stop transmitting high power laser successfully.

In this paper, the Zynq system-on-chip (SoC) platform is used to design an adaptive noise reduction and edge-detection system using partial reconfiguration. Filters are implemented in a partially reconfigurable (PR) region to provide high computational complexity in real-time, 1080p video processing. In addition, partial reconfiguration enables better utilization of hardware resources in the embedded system from autonomous replacement of filters in the same PR region. The proposed edge-detection system performs adaptive noise reduction if the noise density level in the incoming video sequences exceeds a given threshold value. Results of implementation show that the proposed system improves the accuracy of edge-detection results (14~20 times in Pratt's Figure of Merit) through self-reconfiguration of filter bitstreams triggered by noise density level in the video sequences. In addition, the ZyCAP controller implemented in this paper enables about 2.1 times faster reconfiguration when compared to a PCAP controller.

Recently, there was an increasing demand for an integrated access control system which is capable of user recognition, door control, and facility operations control for smart buildings automation. The market available door lock access control solutions need to be improved from the current level security of door locks operations where security is compromised when a password or digital keys are exposed to the strangers. At present, the access control system solution providers focusing on developing an automatic access control system using (RF) based technologies like bluetooth, WiFi, etc. All the existing automatic door access control technologies required an additional hardware interface and always vulnerable security threads. This paper proposes the user identification and authentication solution for automatic door lock control operations using camera based visible light communication (VLC) technology. This proposed approach use the cameras installed in building facility, user smart devices and IoT open source controller based LED light sensors installed in buildings infrastructure. The building facility installed IoT LED light sensors transmit the authorized user and facility information color grid code and the smart device camera decode the user informations and verify with stored user information then indicate the authentication status to the user and send authentication acknowledgement to facility door lock integrated camera to control the door lock operations. The camera based VLC receiver uses the artificial intelligence (AI) methods to decode VLC data to improve the VLC performance. This paper implements the testbed model using IoT open-source based LED light sensor with CCTV camera and user smartphone devices. The experiment results are verified with custom made convolutional neural network (CNN) based AI techniques for VLC deciding method on smart devices and PC based CCTV monitoring solutions. The archived experiment results confirm that proposed door access control solution is effective and robust for automatic door access control.
