Uncertainty Analysis for Dam-Break Floodwave Simulation (댐 붕괴 홍수모의에 대한 불확실도 해석)

  • DAMBRK-U model is developed for the evaluation of overtopping risk of dam and levee and for the estimation of uncertainty in floodwave simulation. The original algorithm is revised and expanded to include Monte-Carlo analysis to estimate them. The model is tested by applying to hypothetical channels of widening, uniform and narrowing geometry. Larger variation in discharge and water depth are expected at narrower sections of a river. It is calibrated by applying to the Hantan River, where severe damages from Yunchun dam-break and levee overtopping occurred on July, 1996. Overtopping risk of dam is calculated for various discharge conditions for Yunchun-dam, and that of levee is also calculated by comparing levee height with flood level at Hantan recreation area. Simulation results show that the overflow depth of flood level is 1,266~0.782 m and the overflow risk turns out to be 100%.

  • The determination of feasible design flood is the most important to control flood damage in river management. Model parameters should be calibrated using observed discharge but due to deficiency of observed data the parameters have been adopted by engineer's empirical sense. Storage coefficient in the Clark unit hydrograph method mainly affects magnitude of peak flood. This study is to estimate the storage coefficients based on the observed rainfall-runoff events at the four stage stations in the Hantan river basin. Model calibration is the process of adjusting model parameter values until model results match historical data. An objective function which is the percent difference between the observed and computed peak flows is available for measuring the goodness-of-fit between computed and observed hydrographs. By sensitivity analysis for the storage coefficient, it has been shown that the storage coefficients affect the peak flows. The Clark parameters adopted in the River Rectification Basic Plan have been estimated through an iterative process designed to produce a hydrograph with the peak flow.

  • This study investigated granite landforms formed by Hantan-gang fluvial erosion and deposition, or by weathering in the area neighboring the Seungil-gyo bridge in Cheorwon-gun Gangwon-do Korea, in which the contact zone of Myeongseongsan granite and Cheorwon lava plateau creates a unique landform. Major granite landforms are deeply weathered hill, sheet erosional landform, paleo-landform surface and paleosoil, micro-fluvial landforms such as pothole and groove, granite rampart, sand bar and boulder bar, former riverbed. And river cliffs on a weakly weathered dome act as a barrier to lateral shifting of the river.

  • This is a study of a residential area for displaced villagers planned for residents of Gyodo Village who must evacuate their hometown because of flooding due to the Hantan River Dam Project. The study aims to construct a plan for a new residential area for the villagers focusing on reflecting the existing characteristics of their former village and on ensuring sustainability for the new village. Departing from previous practice of focusing on merely physical aspects when planning, the current study is significant in that it presents a new planning process and method for a sustainability-focused plan. While the study has many limitations such as objectivity in the process of deriving the sustainability indicators and the appropriateness of the indicator questions, it is hoped that future studies on sustainability will serve to make up for these limitations and problems.

  • 현재 임진강 상류 지역을 포함한 한강수계의 일부분이 북한에 속해있다. 북한의 경우 현지조사가 필수적인 계측자료를 구축하는 것이 현실적으로 어렵기 때문에 수문자료를 활용한 강우-유출 분석에 큰 어려움을 갖고 있다. 임진강 유역의 정확한 홍수량 분석은 앞으로 수행될 수문학적 연구에 필수적인 요소이며 북한의 황강댐 무단방류로 인한 남한지역에의 피해 발생 등으로 그 중요성이 더 부각되었다. 최근 레이더 자료를 활용한 수문량 분석에 관한 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 레이더 자료의 경우 수문자료의 획득이 어려운 미계측 유역에 대하여 적용성이 기대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 임진강 유역의 레이더 강우 자료의 활용성을 검증하기 위하여 한탄강 유역을 대상으로 레이더 자료를 이용한 강우-유출 분석을 수행하였다. 레이더 자료의 경우 임진강 레이더 및 광덕산 레이더를 사용하여 그 적용성을 비교하였고, 각 레이더의 강우자료를 HEC-HMS에 적용하여 홍수 유출량을 산정한 후 지점 강우량을 활용한 유출량 자료와 비교하였다.

Assessment of RAR for Flood Estimation on Hantan River Basin (한탄강 유역의 홍수량 산정을 위한 RAR 자료의 적용성 평가)

  • 본 연구는 레이더를 이용한 강우 추정 시 과소 추정하는 문제를 해결하기 위해 기상청에서 실시간으로 생산하고 있는 레이더 반사도를 AWS로 보정한 RAR (RADAR-AWS Rain rate) 자료의 수문 분석을 통한 적용성을 평가하는데 그 목적이 있다. 대상유역을 한탄강홍수조절댐 유역으로 선정하고 9개 소유역에 대한 시간 단위 지상 관측 자료와 RAR 자료의 유역평균 강우량을 산정 및 비교하였다. 분석 결과 미계측 유역이 80%가 넘는 1번 소유역에서 지상 관측 자료와 RAR 자료의 유역평균 강우량은 상관성이 낮게 분석되었다. 두 자료의 유역평균 강우량을 이용하여 2012년부터 2015년까지 홍수기간에 대한 저수지 모의 유입량과 관측 유입량을 비교한 결과 RAR 자료의 모의 유입량이 관측 유입량과 높은 상관성 및 정확도를 나타내었다. RAR 자료는 기존 레이더 강우의 과소 추정 문제를 보완할 수 있으며, 지상 관측이 어려운 지역에서 강우자료로 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Assessment of water quality index suitability of domestic watersheds (국내유역의 수질지수 적합성 평가)

  • Since tributaries have greater water quality variability than main streams, a comprehensive evaluation method that considers the effects of various parameters rather than one water quality parameter has been introduced for effective water quality management of tributaries, but the characteristic of the watershed is not considered. In this study, the urbanization rate, livestock excreta generation, and industrial wastewater discharge in the Hantan River middle-watershed classify urban and non-urban watersheds, and evaluate the suitability of water quality indexes by watershed characteristics by analyzing water quality characteristics and calculating CCME WQI, RTWQI, and NSFWQI. Factor analysis was used to understand the effect of water quality parameters used to calculate the water quality index on the water quality index results. As a result of the factor analysis, the relationship between CCME WQI, TC, and FC was derived, and the relationship between RTWQI and DO, SS in urban watersheds and NSFWQI and FC in non-urban watersheds was revealed. As a result of evaluating suitability through comparison with BOD and T-P grades, it was interpreted that the suitability of the water quality index was low in urban watersheds and that comprehensive water quality evaluation using RTWQI was possible in non-urban watersheds.

  • 본 연구는 하천을 가로막고 있는 기능을 상실한 횡단구조물 철거를 통하여 하천 생물들이 자유로이 이동할 수 있는 생태통로를 복원하기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 기능을 상실한 보인 경기도 연천군 전곡읍 한탄강 소재의 길이 190m, 높이 2.8m 규모의 고탄보를 철거하여 철거에 의한 보 상하류에서 하상변동과 하천형태 변화와 같은 물리적 영향, 수질 변화와 같은 화학적 영향, 보 상하류에서의 어류/저서동물/식생의 생태 서식처 변화와 같은 생물적 영향을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 어류의 경우, 철거 이전에 보 최상류역 대조구간에서 조사된 16종이 26종으로 늘어났으며, 특히, 뱀장어, 강준치, 쏘가리와 같은 어류의 개체수가 증가되었다. 보 철거를 통하여 이동통로가 확보됨으로써 종다양도 지수가 전반적으로 상회하는 경향을 나타내었다. 저서무척추동물의 경우, 보 철거로 인하여 정수역었던 곳이 유수역으로 변모함에 따라 철거 전에 출현했던 잠자리와 다슬기 종류는 발견되지 않았던 반면, 철거 전에 출현되지 않았던 날도래류가 출현하는 등 출현 종에 다소의 변화를 보였다.

Drainage Derangement and Revision by the Formation of Cheolwon-Pyeonggang Lava Plateau in Chugaryeong Rift Valley, Central Korea (추가령 열곡의 철원-평강 용암대지 형성에 따른 하계망 혼란과 재편성)

  • In Chugaryeong rift valley, lava plateau formation by the fissure eruption had vanished original landforms and effected on drainage derangement and revision. 4 rivers including Namdae-cheon, Bukhan-gang, Imjin-gang and Hantan-gang watersheds have shared Cheolwon-Pyeonggang lava plateau, that is, ownerless watershed. Main agency of the dividing process are central-eruption volcanic peaks such as Orisan(453m) and 680 Peak. Especially, Orisan has played the role of divide point for 4 watersheds. In the lower-relief plateau zone, complex drainage system have caused continually river capture between neighboring watersheds. In more elevated range slope, river capture have proceeded to headward erosion. Hydrogeomorphologically, lava-filled valley has initiated decrease of the original size of flood plain, maybe, causing higher capability of inundation by heavy rains, and then more active dissection of lava plateau layer.

40Ar-39Ar Age Determination for the Quaternary Basaltic Rocks in Jeongok Area (전곡 지역 제4기 현무암질 암석의 40Ar-39Ar 연대 측정)

  • Quaternary basaltic rocks occur as volcanic plateau and/or river cliff in the watershed area of Hantan River in Jeongok, central Korea. We measured $^{40}Ar-^{39}Ar$ ages for the basaltic rocks from Jeongok area using the multi-collector noble gas mass spectrometer and laser heating device introduced for the first time in Korea. The basaltic rocks from the river cliff in Eundae-ri area show the systematic change in $^{40}Ar-^{39}Ar$ ages from $0.54{\pm}0.07Ma$ through $0.48{\pm}0.01Ma$ to $0.12{\pm}0.01Ma$ toward the top. The other sample from Jeongok-ri area yields the age of $0.43{\pm}0.04Ma$. This results suggest that there might be a episodic volcanic eruption between 0.12-0.54 Ma in Jeongok area.
