  • In this paper, we propose a vision and depth information based real-time hand gesture interface method using finger joint estimation. For this, the areas of left and right hands are segmented after mapping of the visual image and depth information image, and labeling and boundary noise removal is performed. Then, the centroid point and rotation angle of each hand area are calculated. Afterwards, a circle is expanded at following pattern from a centroid point of the hand to detect joint points and end points of the finger by obtaining the midway points of the hand boundary crossing and the hand model is recognized. Experimental results that our method enabled fingertip distinction and recognized various hand gestures fast and accurately. As a result of the experiment on various hand poses with the hidden fingers using both hands, the accuracy showed over 90% and the performance indicated over 25 fps. The proposed method can be used as a without contacts input interface in HCI control, education, and game applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method of reconstructing the hand models for individuals, which include the link structure models, the homologous skin surface models and the homologous tetrahedral mesh models in a reference posture. As for the link structure model, the local coordinate system related to each link consists of the joint rotation center and the axes of joint rotation, which can be estimated based on the trajectories of optimal markers on the relative skin surface region of the subject obtained from the motion capture system. The skin surface model is defined as a three-dimensional triangular mesh, obtained by deforming a template mesh so as to fit the landmark vertices to the relative marker positions obtained motion capture system. In this process, anatomical dimensions for the subject, manually measured by a caliper, are also used as the deformation constraints.

  • A vision-based 3D tracking of articulated human hand is one of the major issues in the applications of human computer interactions and understanding the control of robot hand. This paper presents an improved approach for tracking and recovering the 3D position and orientation of a human hand using the Kinect sensor. The basic idea of the proposed method is to solve an optimization problem that minimizes the discrepancy in 3D shape between an actual hand observed by Kinect and a hypothesized 3D hand model. Since each of the 3D hand pose has 23 degrees of freedom, the hand articulation tracking needs computational excessive burden in minimizing the 3D shape discrepancy between an observed hand and a 3D hand model. For this, we first created a 3D hand model which represents the hand with 17 different parts. Secondly, Random Forest classifier was trained on the synthetic depth images generated by animating the developed 3D hand model, which was then used for Haar-like feature-based classification rather than performing per-pixel classification. Classification results were used for estimating the joint positions for the hand skeleton. Through the experiment, we were able to prove that the proposed method showed improvement rates in hand part recognition and a performance of 20-30 fps. The results confirmed its practical use in classifying hand area and successfully tracked and recovered the 3D hand pose in a real time fashion.

  • Traditional pose estimation methods include using special devices or images through image processing. The disadvantage of using a device is that the environment in which the device can be used is limited and costly. The use of cameras and image processing has the advantage of reducing environmental constraints and costs, but the performance is lower. CNN(Convolutional Neural Networks) were studied for pose estimation just using only camera without these disadvantage. Various techniques were proposed to increase cognitive performance. In this paper, the effect of the skip connection on the network was experimented by using various skip connections on the joint recognition of the hand. Experiments have confirmed that the presence of additional skip connections other than the basic skip connections has a better effect on performance, but the network with downward skip connections is the best performance.

  • Torques on each joint, the compression on L5/S1 disc, the force on hand of a rider are estimated using a static biomechnic model. Forces that the rider applies to the pedals, saddle and handle during starting and speeding are estimated using static mechanics. Physical stress is considered accroding to handle height and horizontal distance between handle and pedal. When handle height is higher in normal speeding, the force on handle and sum of torques on each joint decreases.

  • It has made a special study of bending behavior of F.R.P sandwich beams with bonded 2nd-reinforced plies. Specimens were made of Chopped Mat 300-450, Roving Clothes 570 and the mixture weight ratio of Resin versus hardener was 55:45 for bending tests. it was fabricated by hand lay-up method, hardened for 24 hours in nature, cut specimens according to ASTM standard C393-94 Knowing exact behavior of bonded area's stress and strain depends upon various bonded F.R.P length on which covered lap joint. We also considered shear stress in adhered area and have done computational estimation by ANSYS as well. This study reveals that the length of plies covered lap joint are longer, Failure stresses are remarkably larger.

  • The human arm is modeled by three rigid bodies(the upper arm, the forearm and the hand)with seven degree of freedom(three in the shoulder, two in the elbow and two in the wrist). The objective of this work is to present a method to determine the three-dimensional kinematics of the human elbow joint using a magnetic tracking device. Euler angle were used to determine the elbow flexion-extension, and the pronation-supination. The elbow motion for the various driving conditions is measured through the driving test using a simulator. Discomfort levels of elbow joint motions were obtained as discomfort functions, which were based on subjects' perceived discomfort level estimated by magnitude estimation. The results showed that the discomfort posture of elbow joint motions occurred in the driving motion.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the utilization of bivariate joint drought index in South Korea. In order to develop the bivariate joint drought index, in this study, Clayton copula was used to estimate the joint distribution function and the calibration method was employed for parameter estimation. Precipitation and soil moisture data were selected as input data of bivariate joint drought index for period of 1977~2012. The time series analysis, ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) analysis, spatial analysis were used to evaluate the bivariate joint drought index with SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index) and SSI (Standardized Soil moisture Index). As a result, SPI performed better for drought onset and SSI for drought demise. On the other hand the bivariate joint drought index captured both drought onset and demise very well. The ROC score of bivariate joint drought index was higher than that of SPI and SSI, and it also reflected the local drought situations. The bivariate joint drought index overcomes the limitations of existing drought indices and is useful for drought analysis.

  • Objective : This study is designed to find out the effects of the Bee-Venom Acupuncture on knee joint with osteoarthritis. Methods :We are investigated that outpatients suffer from knee joint pain deciphered at the division of Acupuncture in Jaseng oriental medicine hospital from the 13, July 1999 to until 11, November 2000. We make an estimated of the score from both before or after its treatment about 70 cases of diagnostic patient with the osteoarthritis of knee joints by biochemical method and X-RAY analysis, we observed in the progress of symptoms. Results: These results found that sex. distinction with a disease caused much more female than male at the ratio of 1 to 5.36 in the proportion of males to females, jobs is mainly ranked with a housewife and approximately 82.9% of cases before our hospital have ever treated at the other clinics or hospitals. On the hand. the distribution interval of a case history is mainly followed by disease in below 6 month, interval of the period-treatment is mainly gone within 3 month and frequency of treatment is examined into 11 to 15 times, more than 16 times and below 10 times, respectively. We are estimated with the score of functional barrier from both before or after its treatment against osteoarthritis' patients and produced in the usefulness from the totally point of fields except the aid-device after its treatment. In summary, these results demonstrated that Bee Venom, Acupuncture enhanced more than 82.9% to the improvement of treatment and P<0.05 considered to be statistically significant. Conclusion: These results suggest that Bee-venom Acupuncture may be playa role in the significant usefulness and have need of actively application for the clinical trials against osteoarthritis' patients.
