에지 방향성 히스토그램과 주성분 분석을 이용한 손 형상 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hand Shape Recognition using Edge Orientation Histogram and PCA)

  • 본 논문에서는 별도의 센서를 부착하지 않고 영상만을 이용하여 실시간으로 손 형상을 인식하는 알고리즘에 대해 기술한다. 손은 형상이 매우 복잡하기 때문에 2차원 형상의 불변량에 해당하는 에지의 방향성 히스토그램을 이용하여 인식을 행한다. 이 방법은 복잡한 배경에서 피부색을 지닌 손 영역이 정확히 추출되며 손 형상을 인식하는데 있어서 수행속도가 빠르고 조명변화에 덜 민감하기 때문에 실시간 손 형상 인식에 적합하다. 본 논문에서는 손의 형상에서 방향이 틀어지는 경우에도 인식을 가능하게 하기위해 주성분 분석법을 사용하여 인식오차를 줄이는 방법을 기술한다. 이 방법을 사용함으로써 손 영상이 3차원적으로 회전에 의해 변하는 경우도 인식가능하게 되었다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 가정용 가전제품이나 게임을 제어하는 실시간 휴먼 인터페이스 제작에 사용 할 수 있다.

Mastectomy in female-to-male transgender patients: A single-center 24-year retrospective analysis

  • Background Mastectomy in male transgender patients is an important (and often the first) step toward physical manhood. At our department, mastectomies in transgender patients have been performed for several decades. Methods Recorded data were collected and analyzed for all male transgender patients undergoing mastectomy over a period of 24 years at our department. Results In total, 268 gender-reassigning mastectomies were performed. Several different mastectomy techniques (areolar incision, n=172; sub-mammary incision, n=96) were used according to patients' habitus and breast features. Corresponding to algorithms presented in the current literature, certain breast qualities were matched with a particular mastectomy technique. Overall, small breasts with marginal ptosis and good skin elasticity allowed small areolar incisions as a method of access for glandular removal. In contrast, large breasts and those with heavy ptosis or poor skin elasticity often required larger incisions for breast amputation. The secondary correction rate (38%) was high for gender reassignment mastectomy, as is also reflected by data in the current literature. Secondary correction frequently involved revision of chest wall recontouring, suggesting inadequate removal of the mammary tissue, as well as scar revision, which may reflect intense traction during wound healing (36%). Secondary corrections were performed more often after using small areolar incision techniques (48%) than after using large sub-mammary incisions (21%). Conclusions Choosing the suitable mastectomy technique for each patient requires careful individual evaluation of breast features such as size, degree of ptosis, and skin elasticity in order to maximize patient satisfaction and minimize secondary revisions.

  • A force reflecting hand controller can be used to provide more realistic information to the operator of a teleoperation system such as kinesthetic feedback from a slave robot. In this paper, a new design concept of a force reflecting 6-DOF hand controller utilizing the kinematic structure of a Stewart Platform is presented. Based on the optimal design technique of a Stewart Platform, a force reflecting hand controller has been designed and constructed to verify the technical feasibility of proposed design concept. In order to provide an operator with kinesthetic feedback information, a force mapping algorithm based on a reciprocal product of screws has been introduced. Finally, the technical feasibility of the design concept has been demonstrated through some of experimental results of the device under virtual environment on a real-time graphic system.

  • The subjective hand and preference of alkaline hydrolized polyester fabrics were evaluated using the scale developed. The factors affecting consumer's taste for polyester fabrics was analyzed by the statistical technique. The effects of alkaline hydrolysis on the properties of polyester fabrics were evaluated by subjective and objective hand measurements. The lower the age the more senstive their feeling. As the age of evaluators decreased they felt fabrics light flexible refined thin flossy smooth fine soft more clinging. They also thought fabrics are colder, more flexible more spongy as the age increased. Experts were more sensitive and consistent when they evaluation the hand of fabrics than non-experts.

Surgical Resuscitation of a Patient with Cerebral Herniation Secondary to Massive Hemorrhage in the Basal Ganglia: Ultrasound-monitored Aspiration

  • The authors report a case of hyperacute, massive hemorrhage in the left basal ganglia with severe midline shift that was treated successfully by the ultrasound-monitored free hand aspiration technique. Every effort was made to shorten time until removal of considerable amount of the hematoma and minimize duration of cerebral herniation, avoiding additional irreversible neurological deficit. A burr hole aspiration technique was preferred to standard craniotomy procedure, and any time-consuming procedures such as stereotactic frame application were abandoned. A burr hole was localized on the basis of computed tomography images simply and quickly with a ruler, and safety of the aspiration procedure was augmented by real-time ultrasound monitoring. Such minimally invasive technique relieved cerebral herniation successfully while avoiding time consumption and the morbidity of major craniotomy procedure. Early resuscitation of the patient with cerebral herniation in this case resulted in excellent recovery of the patient's neurological deficit. The patient's mentality started to improve rapidly and was clear six months after the surgery.

여섯 손가락증의 수술적 교정: 새로운 수술 방법의 고안과 적용 (Surgical Correction of Hexadactyly: Innovation of new technique and its application)

  • Purpose: Hexadactyly without thumb is a rare congenital anomaly of the hand where six triphalangeal digits are symmetrically distributed without thumb. Contrary to mirror hands, triphalangeal six digits are symmetrically distributed on each side at the midline with well - differentiated carpal bones, extensor tendons, one ulnar and one radius. The authors developed a new surgical technique based on a three - dimensional concept to correct the hexadactyly and applied to 2 cases of hexadactyly with good functional and aesthetic results. Here we document the surgical technique and its result. Methods: A 16 month old male patient visited our clinic with chief complaints of bilateral hexadactyly deformity. On physical examination most radial first and second digits showed no opposition and adduction motion on both side hands. Radiography showed 6 triphalangeal digits with normal development of carpal, radial and ulnar bone. Right side abnormality was corrected by removal of most radial side extra - digit, rotation and migration of 2nd ray to thumb position and creation of 1st web by transposing a mid - palm based rectangular palmar flap as in Snow & Littler procedure which has been being applied for correction of 1st web syndactyly in cleft hand deformity. Seven months later, left side abnormality was also corrected with the same procedure. Results: Postoperative appearances of the both hands were satisfactory. Flexion, extension, opposition and grasping were possible with the pollicized 2nd ray. Pinching power was 3.0 kg 15 months after surgery and 2.5 kg 22 months after in right hand respectively. Conclusion: In correction of hexadactyly deformity, satisfactory aesthetic and relevant functional results can be expected with authors' newly developed technique: removal of most radial digit, rotation and migration of 2nd digit to thumb position as well as creation of the 1st web space by transposition of mid - palm based rectangular flap.

3차원 추적영역 제한 기법을 이용한 손 동작 인식 시스템 (A Hand Gesture Recognition System using 3D Tracking Volume Restriction Technique)

  • 본 논문에서는 손 추적과 제스처 인식 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 사용자 손의 3차원 기하학적 정보를 취득하기 위해 별도의 장비를 사용한다. 특히, 기존의 물체 검출 및 추적 시스템들에서 제기 되었던 추적 과정에서의 문제점을 피하기 위해 능동적인 타원체 영역을 만들고 손 추적을 위한 영역을 타원체 영역의 안으로 제한했다. 제안된 시스템은 미리 정의된 기간 동안에 손 위치의 이동평균을 계산한다. 그리고 추적영역은 3차원 공간에 편성된 공분산에 기반한 사용자 손 움직임의 불확실성을 추정하여 통계적인 데이터에 따라 능동적으로 제어하였다. 또한 손 위치가 획득되었을 때, 손 제스처를 인식하기 위해 펼쳐진 손가락을 검출한다. 사용자 인터페이스 체제 기반의 시스템을 구현하여 복잡한 환경에서 다중의 대상들이 동시에 존재하는 경우이거나 일시적인 가려짐이 발생하는 경우에도 정확성을 보여 매우 안정적으로 동작할 수 있음을 보여주며, 약 24-30fps의 프레임 비율로 사용할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다.

모조 근관의 크기와 충전 방법이 orthograde MTA apical plug의 미세누출에 미치는 영향 (EFFECTS OF CONDENSATION TECHNIQUES AND CANAL SIZES ON THE MICROLEAKAGE OF ORTHOGRADE MTA APICAL PLUG IN SIMULATED CANALS)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 서로 다른 두 개의 근관 크기(#70, #120)를 가진 레진 모형에 MTA (minoral trioxide aggregate)를 서로 다른 두 가지 방법 (수기구 충전(HC), 초음파 보조 수기구 충전(UAHC))으로 정방위 충전하고 MTA apical plug의 미세 누출을 평가하는 것이다. 직선형 근관 형태를 가지며, #70과 #120의 치근단 크기를 갖는 레진 모형을 각각 30개씩 준비하였다. 이 시편들을 MTA의 적용 방법에 따라 각 군을 2개의 아군으로 다음과 같이 분류하였다 (n=15); C70: HC + 치근단 크기 #70, C120: HC + 치근단 크기 #120, U70: UAHC + 치근단 크기 #70, U120: UAHC + 치근단 크기 #120. MTA 충전을 완료한 후에, 24시간 동안 실온에서 100% 습도를 유지하여 경화시켰다. 근관의 상부는 열연화 충전 시스템(Obtura II)을 이용하여 충전하였다. 48시간 동안 100% 습도를 유지하여 실온에서 0.2% rhodamine B 용액을 이용해 미세누출 실험을 하였다. 이 연구결과 #70의 치근단 크기를 갖는 그룹 사이에서 UAHC가 HC에 비해 미세누출이 적은 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 이 연구 조건하에서는 초음파 진동을 동반한 정방위 MTA apical plug 형성 방법이, 특히 좁은 근관에서 더 효율적인 것으로 사료된다.

  • The informal specification technique lacks abstraction and preciseness. On the other hand, the formal specification technique makes the developer difficult to express and understand the software specification, because it contains mathematical expression. This paper proposes DSC(Domain Specification Component) to solves these problems. DSC supports the understanding of problem domain and improves reusability with selecting the strong point of informal and formal specification technique. We applied the proposed DSC to CMIP-based network management manager software. And we analyzed the effects of the reusability and confirmed the increase of the reusability.

  • Nonlinear system of initial value problems involving R-L fractional derivative is studied. Monotone iterative technique coupled with lower and upper solutions is developed for the problem. It is successfully applied to study qualitative properties of solutions of nonlinear system of initial value problem when the function on the right hand side is nondecreasing.
