Accuracy Analysis of Ultrasonic, Magnetic and Radar Sensors for Manhole Monitoring

  • During the rainy season, heavy downpours are always a source of concern for the world. Flooding and heavy rains can devastate communities, disrupt agriculture, and contribute to traffic accidents.. Weir and flow hall effect sensors are the conventional analytical methods for measuring flow rate; in this paper, we analyzed manhole flowrate statistics. The measurement of the flow rate of a notch/weir is a time-consuming task that necessitates continuous mathematical analysis. . We created three types of IoT sensors in this study: (HC-SR04 ultrasonic, YF-S201 magnetic, and HB100 radar), which take the sensor's real-time input signal and estimate the flow using a notch equation and a previously calibrated optimized coefficient of discharge. The proposed systems are cost-effective, but in terms of accuracy, we found that the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is the best of the three systems

기판온도에 따른 PbTe 박막의 구조 및 전기적 물성 (Structure and Electrical Properties of PbTe Thin Film According To The Substrate Temperature)

  • Pulsed laser deposition법에 의하여 양질의 PbTe 박막을 다양한 기판온도에 따라 성장시켰다. XRD패턴으로 부터 각 온도에서의 PbTe층들은 결정화가 되어있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 PbTe 박막의 XRD 피크들은 (h00)의 방향성을 나타내고 있다. Pb의 재증발로 인하여 $400^{\circ}C$이상에서는 PbTe 박막은 결정성의 박막으로 형성되지 않았다. AFM 이미지로부터 박막의 표면은 작은 granular 결정들과 평탄한 매트릭스로 구성되어 있음이 관찰되었다. 기판온도의 증가에 따라 표면의 입자들이 커지는 것을 알 수 있었다. Hall-effect 측정으로부터 $300^{\circ}C$에서 성장한 PbTe 박막의 전기적 특성은 $3.68{\times}10^{18}cm^{-3}$의 캐리어 농도와 $148\;cm^2/Vs$의 Hall 이동도를 나타내었다.

  • An articulated, multifinger mechanical hand can carry out grasping and manipulation operations on objects of different type and shape. In this paper the architecture of the mechanical hand is presented. Joints are driven by two antagonist tendons. Strain gauges are used to derive tendon tensions, and located in the palm of the hand. Angular defection of the joints is measured by Hall effect sensors attached to the joints. A multiprocessor-based architecture for controlling the hand is illustrated.

  • This paper introduces the development of the caliper system for a geometry PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge). The objective of the caliper system is to detect and measure dents, wrinkles, and ovalities affect the pipe structural integrity. The developed caliper system consists of a finger arm, an anisotropic permanent magnet, a back yoke, pins, pinholes and a linear hall effect sensor. The angle displacement of the finger arm is measured by the change of the magnetic field in sensing module. Therefore the sensitivity of the caliper system mainly depends on the magnitude of the magnetic field inside the sensing module. In this research, the ring shaped anisotropic permanent magnet and linear hall effect sensors were used to produce and measure the magnetic field. The structure of the permanent magnet, the back yoke and pinhole positions were optimized that the magnitude of the magnetic field range between a high of 0.1020 Tesla and a low of zero by using three dimensional nonlinear finite element methods. A simulator was fabricated to prove the effectiveness of the developed caliper system and the computational scheme using the finite element method. The experimental results show that the developed caliper system is quite efficient for the geometry PIG with good performance.

  • Using back electro-motive force(EMF) signals of a brushless DC motor, the sensorless micro-processor controlled drive system was developed. In this new commutation method, the manual pulses are used for relatively short accelerating phase and then the exact commutational positions are detected based upon the back emf signals. The hardware and software implementations with the experiment to compare the performance of the developed system with the, conventional system using hall effect sensors are included. By reducing the number of the required sensors in the artificial heart control system, the total reliability will be incresed.

  • As rotor position is a reference of coordinate in vector control of PMSM, the information of exact rotor position is required. To measure the position of motors, hall-effect sensors, encoders, resolvers, etc. are used. Among these sensors, resolvers have good endurance in the variation of circumstance and can be used in a wide range of temperature, but resolvers are less exact than encoders. In addition, resolvers have a drawback that the output signal contains periodic error components. Thus, this paper proposes a compensation method for the unique position error in resolvers using Kalman filter to achieve high performance control of PMSM. The validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through simulation studies.

  • This dissertation is reference to measure visual information about the configuration of magnetic field automatically and materialize the new magnetic field mapping system for the rapid and clear measure by using of the mediocrity orthogonal robot in the three- dimensional space required the measure of magnetic field concurrently. The measuring sensor is composed to be available for the measure of three-dimensional direction of magnetic field by vertically conjoining each of three hall sensors utilized of the hall effect and installed Gaussmeter, which is devised to receive the sensor result and the robot controller, away from the measuring robot in order to minimize the affection of magnetic field. Also, the controller and Gaussmeter are composed of Use interface, RS-232C and IEEE-488.2 communication. Interface system is written in NI's LabVIEW and composed to be able to set up a measuring area, the measuring number of times, two and three-dimensional graph, the velocity of robot and the magnetic field distribution graph of each element by inputting parameters. The materialized magnetic field mapping system expert the collection of the data easily and the effect of utilizing data.

MFL을 이용한 천연가스 배관용 비파괴 검사장비 개발에 관한 연구 (Study for Development of Nondestructive Inspection Device in Natural Gas Pipeline Using MFL Technology)

  • 본 논문에서는 자기해석을 기초로 배관의 결함을 검사할 수 있는 자기인가장치를 개발하져다. 자기인가장치는 영구자석(Nd-Fe-B계열) 및 Linear Hall Effect 센서를 이용하여 배관을 충분히 자화시킬 수 있도록 설계되었으며, 센서 어레이는 8인치 크기로 설계, 제작하였다. 제작된 자기인가장치는 5개의 yoke와 45개의 Linear Hall Effect 센서로 구성된다. 자기회로법을 이용하여 설계된 자기장 인가장치가 배관을 포화시킬 수 있는가를 확인하였고. 또한 8인치 탄소강관(두께 : 5.85mm)에 인공 결함을 제작하여 누설 자속을 측정하였다. 시험 배관에 만들어진 두께 $10\%{\~}80\%$의 결함은 제작된 MFL 모듈을 이용하여 모두 검출하였으며 결함의 깊이가 가장 얇은 0.5mm까지 검출이 가능함을 확인하였다.

온도보상회로를 부착한 개방형 전류측정기의 특성 (Characteristics of Open-Loop Current Sensor with Temperature Compensation Circuit)

  • 개방형 전류측정기는 DC 모터 콘트롤러, AC 가변 콘트롤러, UPS(Uninterruptible Power System)에 주로 사용되며 최근 신재생 에너지의 성장과 전력망의 스마트 그리드화로 인하여 활용성이 점차 확대되고 있다. 이러한 신재생 에너지의 성장으로 관련 핵심기술의 보유여부가 중요해지고 있으며 대부분 수입에 의존하고 있는 개방형 전류측정기의 국산화 및 관련 기술의 확보를 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 일반 산업용 개방형 전류측정기의 제작과정과 특성을 측정한 결과를 기술하였다. 개방형 전류측정기를 구성하는 C형 철심의 공극자장분포 해석 및 형상 설계, 홀센서의 선정 및 특성시험, 정전류 전원공급회로와 신호처리회로의 회로설계 과정을 기술하며 DIP(Dual In-line Package) type과 SMD (Surface Mount Device) type의 100A급 개방형 전류측정기를 제작하고 특성을 측정했다. 제작된 전류측정기로 0~100A 범위에서 통전 실험을 실시한 했고 직류전류와 60Hz의 교류전류에서 특성을 측정한 결과 정밀도 오차 2% 이내, 선형도 오차 2% 이내의 성능을 만족하였다. 또한 부 특성 온도계수를 갖는 NTC(Negative Temperature Coefficient) 서미스터를 이용한 온도보상회로를 사용하여 $-35{\sim}100^{\circ}C$의 범위에서 온도보상 효과를 확인하였다.

Deposition and Characterization of Graphene Materials Deposited through Thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition

  • Graphene-based materials have been gaining the unprecedented academic and industrial applications, due to the unique charge transport as a new kind of 2-dimensional materials. The applications incorporate electronic devices, nonvolatile memories, batteries, chemical sensors, etc. based on the electrical, mechanical, structural, optical, and chemical features newly reported. The current work employs thermal chemical vapor deposition involving H2 and CH4, in order to synthesize the 2-dimensional graphene materials. The qualitative/quantitative characterizations of the synthesized graphene materials are evaluated using Raman spectroscopy and Hall Measurements, In particular, the effect of processing variables is systematically investigated on the formation of graphene materials through statistical design of experiments. The optimized graphene materials will be attempted towards the potential applications to flat-panel displays.
