  • We investigate Landau level spectra of twisted bilayer graphene under a perpendicular magnetic field, showing that the layers provide rich electronic structure depending on misoriented angle. New types of excitations with Landau level sequences due to the reflection of interlayer coupling level are matter of interest in the present work. We calculate the electronic structure of bilayer systems with a relative small angle rotation of the two graphene layers. Calculated Landau level spectra for twisted bilayer graphene using a continuum formulation are in good agreement with existing experimental and theoretical studies. Twist angle dependent numerical simulations provide significant insights for the nature of the Landau level spectra in bilayer graphene, combining signals from both massive and massless Dirac fermions. We finally discuss the influence of the graphene layers in the experimental sample that related to the magneto-transport measurements including quantum Hall conductance.

  • Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is superior to conventional Hydraulic Power Steering (HPS) system in aspect of fuel economy and environmental concerns. The EPS system consists of torque sensor, electric motor, ECU (Electric Control Unit), gears and etc. Among the elements, the torque sensor is one of the core technologies of which output signal is used for main input of EPS controller. Usually, the torque sensor has used torsion bar to transform torsion angle into torque and needs linear characteristic in terms of flux variation with respect to rotation angle of permanent magnet. The torsion angle of both ends of a torsion bar is measured by a contact variable resistor. In this paper, the sensor is accurately analyzed using 3D finite element method and its characteristics with respect to four different shapes of the stator teeth are compared. The four shapes are rectangular, triangular, trapezoidal and circular type.

  • Six-step commutation control widely used in brushless DC (BLDC) motor can be applied to consequent pole permanent magnet (CPPM) belt starter generator (BSG) with trapezoidal back electromotive force (EMF) in the starter state. However, rotor position detection with three Hall sensors in BLDC motor can hardly be employed in CPPM BSG due to asymmetric flux distribution in each pole side of CPPM BSG. This paper presents a low-cost rotor position detection method for CPPM BSG in which six Hall sensors are proposed to be used based on the analysis of flux distribution by 3D FEA. In the method, the six Hall sensors are divided into three groups and two signals in each group are combined through performing logic operations. In addition, offset angle between back EMF and the related Hall signal can be compensated by moving the Hall sensors. Experiments of a 2 kW CPPM BSG prototype have also been performed to verify the proposed method.

  • We have measured the Hall effect in infinite-layer Sr/sub 0.9/La/sub 0.1/$CuO_2$ thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We do not observe $T^{2}$ dependence of the cotangent of Hall angle, which is commonly observed in other cuprate High-Tc superconductors. Therefore, this result cannot be interpreted within two different scattering mechanism based on charge-spin separation theory. The mixed-state Hall effect shows no sign anomaly, implying that tile hydrodynamic contribution of vortex core is negligibly small.

  • The PMSM position sensor using two rectangular hall sensors can restrictively acquire the 90[$^{\circ}$] position information of rotor according to electrical angle. Thus, the control method using this position sensor cannot react properly to a rapid load torque change. On the other hand, even though a sensorless method has the advantage of acquiring instantaneous rotor position information, the accuracy of position sensor can be determined by the gain value of estimator. This paper suggests a robust speed control method on torque fluctuation condition, which combines low cost two rectangular hall sensors and sensorless control method.

  • During the repair and restoration of the Daewoongjeon Hall of Youngguksa Temple, species identification and tree-ring dating for both present wood elements and charred ones excavated under the Hall, were conducted. The species of 74 wood elements of Daewoongjeon Hall, were identified as Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc. and only 1 was identified as exotic Pinus species. The latter wood, which was used in the laths, seems to have been replaced during past repairs. Many documentary records and various artifacts pertaining to Youngguksa Temple are being excavated, but none described precisely the construction date of the present Daewoongjeon Hall. Also, from beneath the Daewoongjeon Hall, cornerstone and foundation of previous building and several charred wood elements were excavated. In comparing the direction of the stone columns of foundation of the previous structure and the existing Daewoongjeon Hall, the previous structure was rotated in an angle of approximately $15^{\circ}$. Therefore, in order to find the association of the previous structure with the present Daewoongjeon Hall, tree-ring dating was conducted. The dating of 41 original timbers and 14 roof-filling timbers of the present construction elements revealed that the last annual ring was of A. D. 1703 with complete latewood, indicating that those woods was cut some time between the autumn of 1703 and spring of 1704, and the building was erected in 1704 when we assume no period of wood storage. The year of the last annual ring of the charred elements, which were excavated from beneath the Daewoongjeon Hall, was analyzed as 1674. The cutting year of the woods used for the present building began in 1698, therefore, it can be presumed that the Daewoongjeon Hall before the fire was a structure that was elected shortly after 1674 and that a catastrophic fire occurred some time between 1674 and 1698.

  • Daewungbojeon hall of Magoksa temple is a korean traditional wood building well representing Joseon Dynasty architecture in the 17th century. The purpose of this study was to identify the wood species of 42 wooden elements collected from Pillar (Gidung), Head-penetrating tie (Changbang), Pyeongbang, Angle rafter (Chunyeo), End-angle rafter (Sarae) and Hwalju. According to the microscopical investigation, Pillar, Head-penetrating tie, Pyeongbang and Hwalju were identified as domestic hard pine species. However, Chunyeo were identified as either Zelkova serrata Makino or Gingko biloba L. and Sarae as exotic hard pine species. It might be related to the high replace rate of wood elements for the roof. Especially, exotic hard pine species seem to be replaced in recent years when Daewungbojeon hall was repaired.

열처리 공정 후 Hall측정 결과 $+0.15^{\circ}$, $-0.15^{\circ}$, $-0.2^{\circ}$, $-0.4^{\circ}$ off된 각 샘플들은 온도, 시간, 분위기에 따라 hole concentration ($7.4{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}{\sim}6{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$), mobility(${\mu}h=\;1.72\;cm^2/V-s\;{\sim}15.2\;cm^2/V-s$), specific resistance(4.971 ohm-cm ~8.924 ohm-cm) 가 변화됨을 확인 할 수 있었다. 또한 광학적 특성을 분석하기 위해 Photoluminescence (PL)을 측정하였다.
