To evaluate the performance of ultrasound imaging system, we investigated the change of spatial resolution according to changing sonic velocity change parameter provided by ultrasound equipment. Ultrasound phantom images were obtained using a 3.0 ~ 5.0 MHz convex transducer in an ultrasound diagnostic device used at a medical institution located at Iksan. N-365 multi-purpose ultrasound phantom was used to measure longitudinal distance measurement accuracy and longitudinal and transverse resolution. In the same manner, the sonic velocity of the ultrasound equipment was changed from 1580 m/sec to 1400 m/sec in six steps, and the full width at half maximum(FWHM) was measured using the image J program to determine whether the measured values were different. As a result, lateral resolution was measured from 1.91 mm to 5.3 mm according to the speed change, and the smallest FWHM was 1.91 mm at 1420 m/sec. The axial resolution was measured from 1.03 mm to 1.14 mm according to the speed change, and the smallest FWHM was 1.03 mm at 1400 m/sec. The slower the sound velocity of the ultrasound equipment, the shorter the length of longitudinal measurement.
The flow of an incompressible Ellis fluid in an inclined asymmetric channel, driven by peristaltic waves was studied under low Reynolds number and long wavelength assumptions. The wave on each side of the channel are assumed to be an infinite train of sinusoidal waves, both having the same constant wave speed and wavelength however, they vary in wave amplitude, channel half width and phase angle. We derived expressions for the axial and transverse velocities, volume flow rate, pressure rise per unit wavelength and streamlines. The effects of varying the wave amplitudes, the phase angle, the channel width, the angle of inclination of the channel as well as the fluid parameters on the flow were analyzed. Trapping conditions were determined and the presence of reflux highlighted using the streamlines for the necessary channel and fluid conditions. By varying the fluid parameters, changes in the fluid that deviated from the Newtonian case resulted in a reduction in the axial velocity in the neighborhood of the center of the channel and a simultaneous increase in the velocity at the periphery of the channel. A nonlinear relation was observed with the pressure rise and the volume flow rate. This nonlinear relation is more pronounced with an increase in the absolute value of the volume flow rate. For Newtonian fluids a linear relation exists between these two variables. The fluid parameters had little effects on the streamlines. However, variations of the wave amplitudes, volume flow, channel width and phase angle had greater effects on the streamlines and hence the trapped region.
Borate nonlinear optical crystals have been used as frequency conversion devices in many fields due to their unique transparency and nonlinearity from ultraviolet to visible spectral range. In this study, we theoretically and numerically investigate the properties of broadband second harmonic generation (SHG) in the recently reported Pna21-Ba3Mg3(BO3)3F3 (BMBF) crystal. The technique is based on the simultaneous achievement of birefringence phase matching and group velocity matching between interacting waves. We discussed all factors required for broadband SHG in the BMBF in terms of two types of phase matching and group velocity matching conditions, the beam propagation direction and the corresponding effective nonlinearity and spatial walk-off, and the spectral responses. The results show that bandwidths calculated in the broadband SHG scheme are 220.90 nm (for Type I) and 165.85 nm (for Type II) in full-width-half-maximum (FWHM). The central wavelength in each case is 2047.76 nm for Type I and 1828.66 nm for Type II at room temperature. The results were compared with the non-broadband scheme at the telecom C-band.
To investigate the effect of AIN c-axis orientation on the resonance performance of film bulk acoustic wave resonators, solidly mounted resonators with crybtallographically different AIN piezoelectric films were prepared by changing only the bottom electrode surface conditions. As increasing the degree of c-axis texturing, the effective electromechanical coupling coefficient ($\kappa$$\_$eff/)$^2$ in resonators increased gradually. The least 4 degree of full width at half maximum in an AIN(002) rocking curve, which corresponds to $\kappa$$^2$$\_$eff/ of above 5%, was measured to be necessary for band pass filter applications in wireless communication system. The longitudinal acoustic wave velocity of AIN films varied with the degree of c-axis texturing. The velocity of highly c-axis textured AIN film was extracted to be about 10200 n/s by mathematical analysis using Matlab.

The effect of aspect ratio on the flow characteristics of elliptic jets was experimentally investigated. The flow characteristics of sharp-edged elliptic nozzles with aspect ratio of 1 (round nozzle), 2 and 4 were measured by using a 3-D LDV system along the major and minor axis at X/De = 2, 3, 5, 7 and along the centerline up to X/De = 14. At each measurement point mean velocites, turbulent intensities, skewness of three orthogonal velocity components, and Reynolds shear stress were obtained. The Reynolds number based on the nozzle exit velocity and nozzle equivalent diameter(De) was about 4 * 10$^{4}$. Difference in the spreading rate along the major and minor axis was remarkable. The jet half width along the major axis decreased at first and then increased again with going downstream. But the jet width along the minor axis increased steadly. The elliptic jet of AR = 2 had two switching points within the measurement range, while that of AR = 4 had only one. (AAA) : The elliptic jet of AR = 2 showed larger velocity decay rate than that of AR = 1 and AR = 4. The effect of aspect ratio on the flow characteristics of elliptic jets was dominant in the near jet regions of X/De < 7, and the skewness and Reynolds shear stress had quite different distribution depending on the aspect ratio of the elliptic nozzle.

The flow characteristics with the impinging angles of defrost nozzle jet inside a commercial vehicle passenger compartment were investigated experimentally by using the two-dimensional duct-nozzle model. The shape of the nozzle contraction was designed according to the curved line of cubic equation to the vertical plan of the flow direction. The impinging angles, defined as the angle between nozzle axis and a vertical line to the windshield, were varied from the $0^{\circ}\;to\;80^{\circ}$. The mean velocity distributions, the half-widths, and the momentum distributions with the cases of both the free jet and the impinging jet onto the dummy windshield were measured. The impinging jet flows similarly with wall jet from $X/b_o=20$, and the impinging angle has an effect on the half-width of the impinging jet. The momentum distributions onto the windshield increased with the increase of impinging angle, and then their inflection point was observed around the impinging angle of $60^{\circ}$.

The researches of a two-phase atomizers have been carried out in the field of automotive and aerospace industries in order to improve the atomization performance of the liquid droplets ejecting from these nozzles. The smaller droplets have the advantages of the reduction of environmental pollution matter and effective use of energy through the improvement of heat and mass transfer efficiency. Thus, to propose the basic information of two-phase flow, an internal mixing atomizer was designed, its shape factor was 0.6 and the liquid feeding hole was positioned at the center of the mixing tube which was used to mix the air and liquid. The experimental work was performed in the field after the nozzle exit orifice. The measurement of the liquid droplets was made by PDPA system. This system can measure the velocity and size of the droplets simultaneously. The number of the droplets used in this calculation was set to 10,000. The flow patterns were regulated by ALR (Air to Liquid mass Ratio). ALR was varied from 0.1024 to 0.3238 depending on the mass flow rate of the air. The analysis of sampling data was mainly focused on the spray characteristics such as flow characteristics distributions, half-width of spray, RMS, and turbulent kinetic energy with ALR.

An experimental investigation on the wind flow over smooth bell-shaped two-dimensional hills with hill slopes (the ratio of height to half width) of 0.3 and 0.5 is performed in an atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel. Two categories of the models are used in the present investigation; six two-dimensional single-hills, and four continuous double-hills. The measurements of the flow field and surface static-pressure distribution are carried out over the Reynolds number (based on the hill height) of 1.9 $\times 10^4, 3.3 \times 10^4, and 5.6 \times 10^4$. The velocity profiles and turbulence characteristics are measured by the pitot-tube and X-type hot-wire anemometer, respectively. The undisturbed boundary-layer profile on the bottom surface of the wind tunnel is reasonably consistent with the power-law profile with $\alpha = 7.0 (1/\alpha$ is the power-law exponent) and shows good spanwise uniformities. The profiles of turbulent intensity are found to be consistent along the centerline of the wind tunnel. The measured non-dimensional speed-up profiles at the hill crest show good agreements with the predictions of Jackson and Hunt's linear theory. The flow separation occurs in the hill slope of 0.5, and the oil-ink dot method is used to find the reattachment points in the leeside of the hill. The measured reattachment points are compared with the numerical predictions. Comparisons of the mean velocity profiles and surface pressure distributions between the numerical predictions and the experimental results show good agreements.

Technologies for preventing contaminants deposition are a key issue in a modern duct system. When particulate matters deposit inside the exhaust pipes, which are widely used in the Urea-SCR system to reduce $NO_x$ emission from heavy duty diesel engines, many problems arise associated with increased flow resistance and corrosion. Therefore, the development of the urea deposition avoidance technologies is being treated as an important issue of the Urea-SCR system. An analytical study was carried out to investigate the effects of the wall flow around the mixer with the variation of the mixer housing surrounding and supporting the mixer, which is designed to increase the wall flow and then to reduce droplet deposition. The housing angles and the position of the mixer were changed:angles of $0^{\circ}$, $1^{\circ}$, $2^{\circ}$, and $3^{\circ}$, and mixer positions of 0 L, 0.5 L, and 1 L. The axial velocity distributions, maximum velocity, the half-width, and momentum distribution of the wall flow were investigated to examine the effect of the mixer-housing assembly geometry.

The flow characteristics of a two-dimensional offset jet issuing parallel to a rough wall is experimentally investigated by using a split film probe with the modified Stock's calibration method. The mean velocity and turbulent stresses profiles in the up and down-stream locations of the wall-attachment regions are measured and compared with those of the smooth wall attaching offset jet cases. It is found that the wall-attachment region on the rough wall is wider than on the smooth wall for the same offset height and the jet speed. The position of the maximum velocity point is farther away from the wall than that for the smooth wall case because of the thick wall boundary layer established by the surface roughness. It is concluded that the roughness of the wall accelerates the relaxation process to a redeveloped plane wall jet and produces a quite different turbulent diffusion behavior especially near the wall from comparing with the smooth plane wall jet turbulence.
