그린수소 기반 섹터 커플링 통한 재생에너지 출력제한 경감효과 연구 (Study on Reduction of Curtailment of Renewable Generation based on Green Hydrogen Sector Coupling)

  • The Korean government announced the "1st Basic Plan for the Transition to Hydrogen Economy" in 2021 and declared the establishment of a hydrogen industry ecosystem by 2040. To build a low-carbon power system, resources that can efficiently accommodate renewable energy are required, and green hydrogen is considered a potential solution. This study analyzed the economic feasibility of green hydrogen-based sector coupling to reduce curtailment of renewable generation in the Jeju power system by 2025 under the scenario of with or without HVDC#3. The result showed that HVDC#3 significantly reduced the frequency of curtailment from 16.1% to 3.0%. In addition, green hydrogen-based sector coupling was an economically feasible option as result showed an IRR of 4.86% when HVDC#3 was connected and 11.45% when it was not under the condition of achieving 50% curtailment reduction. This study shows that the higher the level of renewable energy deployment, the more delayed the HVDC connection between Jeju and the main land, and the lower the SMP, the more economically feasible the green hydrogen-based sector coupling is. Furthermore, this study suggests that the policy goal of completely reducing curtailment is not economically efficient.

  • 본 논문에서는 제주 한림 풍력발전소와 한림 변전소 간에 구축할 예정인 ${\pm}80kV$ 60MW HVDC 시스템의 절연 설계를 위해, 각 구성품의 절연 등급을 수 계산으로 설계하였고 PSCAD로 검증하였다. 각 부분의 절연설계 부분 중, 특히 AC측의 선로에 설치되어 고조파를 저감하는 AC Filter의 절연설계는 고려할 사항이 많다. AC측 선로의 사고, 임펄스 그리고 구성 소자인 인덕터와 커패시터의 설치 구성에 따라 AC Filter의 절연설계가 달라질 수 있다. 따라서 Filter 종류 및 주변 상황요소가 미치는 영향 등 모든 상황을 고려하여 모의하였고 수 계산으로 설계된 절연등급을 검증하였다.

제주계통에서 동기조상기 기동에 따른 전압안정도 영향 검토 (Analysis of Impact on Voltage Stability by Starting Synchronous Condenser in Jeju AC Network)

  • Two old synchronous condensers in Jeju are being replaced by new machines to operate Jeju AC network with Haenam-Jeju HVDC system stably. Before new synchronous condensers operate on site, voltage stability analysis is conducted to verify stable operation of jeju AC network. Through impedance analysis of the synchronous machine, transformer and ac network, the equivalent circuit is constructed and the voltage drop during start-up is calculated. Then, PSS/E fault analysis is performed to acquire short-circuit capacity according to the generator operation scenarios. Voltage variation when starting synchronous condenser is simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC and satisfies the operating condition of jeju AC network and HVDC #1 system.

  • This paper deals with the HVDC system fault analysis and the sound noise analysis. In this paper, the reasons of the audible noise and vibration were analyzed, the fault waveform were analyzed using DTR (Digital Transient Recorder). Finally, using the fault current waveform and the vibration equation, the reason of crack of smoothing reactor support is estimated.

  • This paper proposes an 18-step back-to-back (BTB) voltage source converter using four sets of 3-Level converter modules with auxiliary circuits to increase the number of steps. The proposed BTB voltage source converter has the independent control capability of active power and reactive power at the interconnected ac system. The operational feasibility of the proposed BTB converter was verified through many simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software. The feasibility of hardware implementation was verified through experimental results with a scaled hardware prototype. The proposed BTB converter could be widely applied for interconnecting the renewable energy source to the power grid.

  • This paper presents an optimal design method for fuzzy controllers of HVDC system using adaptive evolutionary algorithm(AEA). We have proposed an adaptive evolutionary algorithm which uses a genetic algorithm and an evolution strategy in an adaptive manner in order to take merits of two different evolutionary computations. AEA is used for tuning fuzzy membership functions, scaling constants and PD gains. The simulation results show that the disturbances are well damped by both controllers and the dynamic performances of fuzzy controllers have better responses than those of PD controllers when mechanical torque changes suddenly.

  • Recently, application area of the thyristor is extends to power conversion systems, such as HVDC, BTB, SVC and FACTS. Therefore, reliability diagnostic technique on thyristor is needed to obtain stability and maintenance of power conversion systems. To measure the characteristics of the thyristor, test equipments which based on IEC 747-6 and KS C 7023 standard are needed. In this paper, we presents the design and manufacture of the test equipments for 6.5kV/4.2kA thyristor which used in thyristor valve of HVDC conversion systems by using test standard. Voltage, current, dv/dt and turn-off time test equipments were designed and manufactured. Each systems were made separately, but unity operation can possible.

  • Malfunction of Klippon relay in Cheju-Haenam HVDC system has been caused by the inflow of high voltage arc. In this paper, we have studied on the theoretical examination and data analysis of Klippon relay, and the countermeasures against the problems were suggested according to their causes. Grounding problem in Klippon relay is removed by one-point earth connection and by modification of grounding circuit. The effects of over current surge was removed by attaching blocking diodes by series In Klippon relay to remove surge input in Klippon relay's mercury contact. The problem of Induced overvoltage by 86re1ay excitation coil, was removed by attaching Free-wheeling diode in parallel with the excitation coil of Lock-out relay.

  • The circuit breaker in an electric power system is not operated when the voltage in the circuit breaker is higher than the rated transient recovery voltage (TRV). The TRV of a circuit breaker is characterized by re-ignition of the arc between two poles and determined by the value of connecting impedance. In this study, we simulated the peak value of TRV in the AC filter of the circuit breaker. The suitability of TRV is assessed by capacitive current switching test conditions defined by the international guide IEC62271-100.

  • 본 논문은 두 지역 간에 직렬로 연결된 HVDC 연계시스템의 전력계통 안정화장치와 전력변환기의 적정 파라메터 선정기법을 다루었다. PSS파라메터 선정기법은 구하고자 하는 진상이 되도록 극좌표를 이동시키고, 충분한 댐핑을 얻도록 이득을 조절하는 고전적인 기법이다. 전력변환기의 적정 파라메터는 근궤적기법을 근거로 하여 기준 값의 변화와 시스템의 동요에 충분한 속응력과 안정도를 고려하여 산정한다. 이들 기법으로 구판 제정수로 소신호 및 과도안정도 분석결과는 사례연구시스템의 고유동요 주파수에 적절한 댐핑 효과를 보여주었다. 본 논문에서 사용한 프로그램은 MATLAB을 근거로 한 PST이다.
