This study investigates the processes of the "Production of Nature" and the preservation and exploitation of nature in the local festival. The recent discussions in tourism geography address the neoliberalization of nature with its political-ecological interpretation. Yangyang-gun has been one of the main regions that have made efforts to make salmon back to the streams. Also, the Yangyang Salmon Festival was organized to celebrate and symbolize the successful restoration of nature. In fact, however, the festival focuses on the commercialization of salmon. Moreover, it is hard to consider Namdaecheon as the successfully restored ecosystem for salmon. As the returning number of salmon has not significantly increased and the festival itself has not been successful to attract many tourists, the local people show declining interest on the conservation of salmon. Contrast to the catchphrase of the festival to emphasize the conservation of nature and restoration of ecosystem, there are still many hurdles that jeopardize returning of salmon. This controversy leads diverse actors into conflict over the conservation of salmon and Namdaecheon. The players in the dispute encompass local people, local and national governments and international organization. Nature appropriated for ecotourism is selectively defined, used and emphasized by the interests of agencies at multiple scales. The findings of this study show that the concept of "Produced Nature" is more useful than intrinsic or original perspective on nature as long as we try to understand the commercialization of nature that is appropriated for the repertoire of local festival.
Antimicrobial efficacy of high pressure (HP) can be enhanced by the application of additional hurdles. The objective of this study was to assess the enhancement in pressure lethality by tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) treatment, against bacterial spores that are considered significant in the food industry. Spores of Clostridium sporogenes, Bacillus cereus and B. subtilis were prepared. Spore suspensions containing TBHQ (200 ppm, dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide, DMSO) were pressurized at 650 or 700 MPa at 54-72$^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. Inactivation of bacterial spores resulted only with HP treatment. The population of B. subtilis spores was more inactivated by HP than those of B. cereus and C. sporogenes spores. Inactivation of C. sporogenes spores using pressure was more affected by the germinated population, compared to Bacillus spores. The inactivation of Bacillus spores increased when pressurized at 70$^{\circ}C$, compared to 54$^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the degree of germination-induced lethality for Bacillus spores decreased at 70$^{\circ}C$. When spores were treated with a combination of DMSO-HP and TBHQ-HP, these treatments seemed to protect the spores against HP, especially at 54$^{\circ}C$. Further mechanistic studies involved in inducing germination by HP and using a subsequent sporicidal agent will be needed for a better understanding of bacterial spore inactivation.
Objective: The visually impaired have limited access to health care services and related information, and thus, they can have serious hurdles against properly taking medications. Despite that it is important to improve self-care ability of the visually impaired for correct medication use, there have been few studies investigating their needs for health care services in Korea, particularly focusing on proper medication usage. This study is to explore safety-related issues regarding mediation usage among the visually impaired based on in-depth interview. We particularly focus on any obstacles for safe use of medicines including experience on medication-related adverse effects in order to provide preliminary evidence for policy measures to improve proper medication use among the visually impaired. Methods: Study sample was visually impaired individuals who resided in Seoul area and were registered in the National Association of Visually Impaired. The association helped the process of recruiting the study participants. In-depth interview for each study participants was conducted. Each interview was recorded and later converted into a written script to extract core contents for the analysis. Results: The study participants comprised of three women (42.9%) and four men (57.1%). One was in his 20's, and there were four participants in 30's and two in 40's. Fully impaired participants were majority (5 out of 7). Limitation to physical access to health care providers and health information were the key factors to hamper safe medication utilization among the study participants. Difficulty reading medication information and may take the wrong medication or incorrect doses of medication, resulting in serious consequences, including overdose or inadequate treatment of health problems. Visually impaired patients report increased anxiety related to medication management and must rely on others to obtain necessary drug information. Pharmacists have a unique opportunity to pursue accurate medication adherence in this special population. This article reviews literature illustrating how severe medication mismanagement can occur in the visually impaired elderly and presents resources and solutions for pharmacists to take a larger role in adherence management in this population. Conclusion: The visually impaired had difficulties reading medication information and identifying medicines, and took incorrect doses of medications. Public support for safe medication use and medication management among the visually impaired is necessary.

Bicycle is a useful transportation mode that is healthy, emission-free, and environmentally compatible. Although large efforts have been made to promote the use of bicycling to date, there still exist various hurdles and limitations. One of the key issues to increase bicycling is how to gather bicycle-related data from the field and to generate valuable information for both users and operations agencies. This study proposes a method to process bicycle trajectory data which is obtained from tracing global positioning systems(GPS) equipped bicycle, which is defined as the probe bicycle. The proposed method is based on the concept of statistical quality control of data. In addition, a data collection and processing scenario in support of public bicycle system is presented. The outcomes of this study would be valuable fundamentals for developing bicycle traffic information systems that is a part of future intelligent transportation systems(ITS).
Data dependencies are one of major hurdles to limit ILP(Instruction Level Parallelism), so several related works have suggested that the limit imposed by data dependencies can be overcome to some extent with use of the data value prediction. Hybrid value predictor can obtain the high prediction accuracy using advantages of various predictors, but it has a defect that same instruction has overlapping entries in all predictor. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid value predictor which achieves high performance by using the information of static and dynamic classification. The proposed predictor can enhance the prediction accuracy and efficiently decrease the prediction table size of predictor, because it allocates each instruction into single best-suited predictor during the fetch stage by using the information of static classification. Also, it can enhance the prediction accuracy because it selects a best- suited prediction method for the “Unknown”pattern instructions by using the dynamic classification mechanism. Simulation results based on the SimpleScalar/PISA tool set and the SPECint95 benchmarks show the average correct prediction rate of 85.1% by using the static classification mechanism. Also, we achieve the average correction prediction rate of 87.6% by using static and dynamic classification mechanism.

The effects of hurdle techniques on the reduction of Bacillus cereus spores in Doenjang and Gochujang were investigated. In our system, Bacillus cereus spores were artificially inoculated into Doenjang and Gochujang. Hurdle techniques used in this study were additives (3% ethyl alcohol-0.03% oregano extract), Joule heating ($95^{\circ}C$ for 5 min), and hydrostatic pressure (500 MPa for 5 min at $45^{\circ}C$). Additive-Joule (AJ) and additive-Joule-pressure (AJP) treatments for Doenjang resulted in a 2.80 log and 3.74 log reduction, respectively, while treatments for Gochujang resulted in a 4.71 log and 5.60 log reduction, respectively. This suggests a high synergistic effect of Joule heating with additive treatment in Doenjang and Gochujang. A combination ofg hurdles such as additives, Joule heating, and hydrostatic pressure also kept Bacillus cereus spore counts low during storage at $30^{\circ}C$. Therefore, Bacillus cereus spores inoculated into Doenjang and Gochujang can be effectively reduced through combined treatments, including AJ or AJP.

Oil spills cause a lot of damage to the environment. Oil destroys the water environment and ecosystem in a very short period of time once they are contaminated by it, it takes a lot of time to recover from the contamination and the cleaning process is very difficult. Therefore, oil detectors are greatly needed as they can monitor any oil spills over the sea, rivers, and lakes. There are two kinds of technology available for detecting oil, viz. the contact and non-contact types. The former is based on the use of the conductivity, capacitance and microwaves, while the latter employs infrared, UV, laser, optic and radar technologies. As there are also various hurdles in the measuring of oil on water, such as the presence of waves, refraction of light, temperature and saltiness, it is imperative to select the right oil detector which is appropriate for the specific environment. In this study, a contact type oil detector is developed, which can be used in oil related industries, such as refineries, petrochemical companies, and power generation stations. The detector is made up of the sensor module, which floats on the water, and the controller which processes the signal coming from the sensor module and displays it. It is designed in such a way that the existence of oil is detected through the sensor and the change in the permittivity is observed to determine the volume and type of spilled oil.
The purpose of this study was to observe the kinematic pattern of elite women 100m hurdler race from start to finish and analyze how the change of horizontal velocity makes an influence on the athletes' performance. The analysis was based on the performance of Korean elite 100m hurdler A and international elite hurdlers B and C. Following results were drawn from the analyzation of elite 100m hurdlers' technical characteristics; During the race, hurdler A made more than 8 m/s of horizontal velocity at the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and the 7th hurdle. The horizontal velocity peaked at the 4th hurdle with 8.23 m/s. On the other hand, hurdler B and hurdler C maintained more than 8 m/s of horizontal velocity from the 2nd hurdle through the 10th hurdle. Hurdler B's fastest horizontal velocity was 8.67 m/s from the 6th to the 7th hurdle and hurdler C's fastest horizontal velocity was 8.85 m/s from the 5th to the 8th hurdle. From the start line to the 3rd hurdle, the times achieved by hurdlers A, B, and C were 4.90 sec, 4.65 sec, and 4.52 sec. In the middle of the race, which is from the 4th hurdle to the 7th hurdle, hurdlers A, B, and C ran in 9.10 sec, 8.60 sec, and 8.38 sec. And the latter part of the race to the 10th hurdle, the times hurdlers A, B, and C hit were 12.32 sec, 11.66 sec, and 11.32 sec. To the finish line, it took 1.15 sec for hurdler A, 1.1 sec for B, and 1.06 sec for C. Hence, to set the record of sub-13 sec, hurdler A should improve her acceleration from the start line to the 1st hurdle with the speed more than 5.4 m/s and should maintain more than 8 m/s of horizontal velocity from the 2nd hurdle through the 10th hurdle. In addition, hurdler A should improve her speed endurance to minimize the deceleration of horizontal velocity from the 4th hurdle to the final hurdle. If hurdler A could shorten 0.05 sec of time in each hurdle section, she would be able to set the record under 13 seconds.

'Multi-scale mass-deployable cooperative robots' is a next generation robotics paradigm where a large number of robots that vary in size cooperate in a hierarchical fashion to collect information in various environments. While this paradigm can exhibit the effective solution for exploration of the wide area consisting of various types of terrain, its technical maturity is still in its infant state and many technical hurdles should be resolved to realize this paradigm. In this paper, we propose to develop new design and manufacturing methodologies for the multi-scale mass-deployable cooperative robots. In doing so, we present various fundamental technologies in four different research fields. (1) Adaptable design methods consist of compliant mechanisms and hierarchical structures which provide robots with a unified way to overcome various and irregular terrains. (2) Soft composite materials realize the compliancy in these structures. (3) Multi-scale integrative manufacturing techniques are convergence of traditional methods for producing various sized robots assembled by such materials. Finally, (4) the control and communication techniques for the massive swarm robot systems enable multiple functionally simple robots to accomplish the complex job by effective job distribution.
In recent decades, oncolytic viruses (OVs) have extensively been investigated as a potential cancer drug. Oncolytic viruses have primarily the unique advantage in the fact that they can only infect and destroy cancer cells. Secondary, oncolytic viruses induce the activation of specific adaptive immunity which targets tumor-associated antigens that were hidden during the initial cancer progression. In 2015, one genetically modified oncolytic virus, talimogene laherparepvec (T-VEC), was approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of melanoma. Currently, various oncolytic viruses are being investigated in clinical trials as monotherapy or in combination with preexistent cancer therapies like immunotherapy, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The efficacy of oncolytic virotherapy relies on the balance between the induced anti-tumor immunity and the anti-viral response. Despite the revolutionary outcome, the development of oncolytic viruses for the treatment of cancer faces a number of obstacles such as delivery method, neutralizing antibodies and induction of antiviral immunity due to the complexity, variability and reactivity of tumors. Intratumoral administration has been successful reducing considerably solid tumors with no notable side effects unfortunately some tumors are not accessible (brain) and require a systemic administration of the oncolytic viruses. In order to overcome these hurdles, various strategies to enhance the efficacy of oncolytic viruses have been developed which include the insertion of transgenes or combination with immune-modulatory substances.
