A Study on the Perception of Job Experts on Data-based HR Management (데이터 기반 인사관리에 관한 직무전문가 인식 고찰)

  • There is a growing perception that HR management that streamlines corporate resources is necessary to retain competitive advantage. In this study, data-based HR management is focused on the perception of HR job experts and data-based HR management execution and utilization prospects at corporate sites. The subjects of the study were three HR planning/management job experts of three firms specializing in IT services in Pangyo, and focused on identifying data-based HR management execution, measurement, analysis tools, and utilization level. As a research method, open coding, axis coding, selective coding procedure based on evidence theory was presented. As a result of in-depth interviews, corporate HR management measurement indicators were divided into three areas: employee, productivity, and culture. Through this study, it was possible to find the significance of perception of the company site as to what measurement tools and mechanisms the company implemented and measured the effectiveness and efficiency of HR management.

A Systematic Literature Review of Data and Analysis Methods Used in HR Analytics Research (국내 HR Analytics 연구에서 활용한 데이터와 분석방법에 대한 체계적문헌고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the various data and methods employed by HR analytics studies. The researchers selected 78 KCI-indexed empirical articles on HR analytics and categorized them using the Employee Life Cycle framework. This yielded several important findings. First, employee retention has been the most common subject of extant studies, followed by performance management. Second, HR analytics studies have used a variety of data (structured and unstructured) according to their research questions, and the data sources have ranged from organizations' internal systems to national databases. Third, most domestic HR analytics studies have been descriptive and diagnostic, whereas predictive and prescriptive studies have been rare. These results have important theoretical and practical implications for future HR analytics research.

  • 본 연구는 도메인 특성이 강한 HR 평가문장을 BERT PLM 모델을통해 4 가지 class 로 구분하는 문제를 다룬다. 다양한 PLM 모델 적용과 training data 수에 따른 모델 성능 비교를 통해 특정 도메인에 언어모델을 적용하기 위해서 필요한 기준을 확인하였다. 또한 Unlabeled 된 HR 분야 corpus 를 활용하여 BERT 모델을 post-training 한 HR-BERT 가 PLM 분석모델 정확도 향상에 미치는 결과를 탐구한다. 위와 같은 연구를 통해 HR 이 가지고 있는 가장 큰 text data 에 대한 활용 기반을 마련하고, 특수한 도메인 분야에 PLM 을 적용하기 위한 가이드를 제시하고자 한다

An improvement on the Criteria of Special Weather Report for Heavy Rain Considering the Possibility of Rainfall Damage and the Recent Meteorological Characteristics (최근 기상특성과 재해발생이 고려된 호우특보 기준 개선)

  • This study is performed to consider the threshold values of heavy rain warning in Korea using 98 surface meteorological station data and 590 Automatic Weather System stations (AWSs), damage data of National Emergency Management Agency for the period of 2005 to 2009. It is in need to arrange new criteria for heavy rain considering concept of rainfall intensity and rainfall damage to reflect the changed characteristics of rainfall according to the climate change. Rainfall values from the most frequent rainfall damage are at 30 mm/1 hr, 60 mm/3 hr, 70 mm/6 hr, and 110 mm/12 hr, respectively. The cumulative probability of damage occurrences of one in two due to heavy rain shows up at 20 mm/1 hr, 50 mm/3 hr, 80 mm/6 hr, and 110 mm/12 hr, respectively. When the relationship between threshold values of heavy rain warning and the possibility of rainfall damage is investigated, rainfall values for high connectivity between heavy rain warning criteria and the possibility of rainfall damage appear at 30 mm/1 hr, 50 mm/3 hr, 80 mm/6 hr, and 100 m/12 hr, respectively. It is proper to adopt the daily maximum precipitation intensity of 6 and 12 hours, because 6 hours rainfall might be include the concept of rainfall intensity for very-short-term and short-term unexpectedly happened rainfall and 12 hours rainfall could maintain the connectivity of the previous heavy rain warning system and represent long-term continuously happened rainfall. The optimum combinations of criteria for heavy rain warning of 6 and 12 hours are 80 mm/6 hr or 100 mm/12 hr, and 70 mm/6 hr or 110 mm/12 hr.

A Design for Natural Gas Reforming Reactor (천연가스 개질기 설계)

  • This work is for the design study of natural gas reformer (40 $m^3/hr$ over). We used experimental kinetic data from literature. After that, we set up theoretical model based on experimental reaction kinetic data. The shape of reactor is 1.7 m long and 200 mm dia. with cylinder geometry. Volume of reactor is 53.4 liter. Average flow velocity of gases in the reactor has been determined 0.272 m/sec and residence time is 9.26 sec. Reaction temperature is $850^{\circ}C$, with pressure 9.3 Bar. Used natural gas volume is about 9.21 $m^3/hr$. Produced hydrogen is 43.7 $m^3/hr$ with no change of pressure. Unreacted natural gas is 0.09 $m^3/hr$ and the amount of steam is 26.9 $m^3/hr$. Steam to $CH_4$ (s/c ratio) is 2.91. Reforming reaction take place from the reactor entrance to 120 cm region of cylinder type reactor. After the entrance of reacting gases to 120 cm region, the reaction reaches equilibrium which is close to products. This study can be applicable to design various reactors. Output data is in good agreements with the data in literatures1).

Identification of factors of Hard and Soft Human Resource Management Practices

  • The Human Resource (HR) system comprises of various interrelated HR practices that forms the bundles. These bundles of Human Resource practices impact the organizational performance. The hard and soft HR bundles are the two sets of the same continuum that describes the strategic approach of the HR system. The purpose of this study is to identify the hard and soft HRM practices from the literature and then empirically test them with the help of factor analysis. The study is conducted on the service industry employees in India. The survey includes the employees from the middle and top-level executives of the service firms. The sample size for the study is 160. Principal component analysis with VARIMAX rotation and Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to obtain the results. The data analysis was done on SPSS V.20 and AMOS V.22. The results provide knowledge of the HR practices under the hard and soft HRM bundles implemented in the service industry.

HR Practices of IT-Based Companies in Korea

  • The research question in this study was to see whether there were similarities and differences in HR practices of IT-based companies in Korea. Interviews with 12 HR executives and a survey of 51 IT-based companies showed that there were IT industry-specific HR practices, but no group differences except one. The only one difference between two groups (small- and medium-sized firms versus multinational corporations) indicated that the latter was better positioned in various HR practices. Four HR themes emerged from analyses of interviews and a survey data: business environment, workforce management, HR practices, and HR for competitive advantage. The fact that none from large companies was found to have female HR executive calls for an in-depth study of what is occurring and what could be done to better the workplace in terms of diversity. A large-scale study using diverse methods in the future will produce more meaningful findings on HR practices in IT-based firms in Korea.

Effects of Nutrition Related Factors on Mortality Risk among Community-residing Older Adults in Korea (한국 지역사회 거주 노인의 영양관련 요인이 사망위험에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of nutrition related factors on mortality risk among community-residing older adults in Korea. We analyzed data from 8,532 older adults who took part in the 2008 living profiles of older people survey and 2011 death mortality data. According to Cox regression analysis, male (Hazard Ratio [HR], 2.03; 95% Confidence Interval [CI], 1.74~2.37), diabetes mellitus (HR, 1.35; 95% CI, 1.12~1.64), underweighted (HR, 2.68; 95% CI, 2.16~3.31), dysphagia (HR, 1.23; 95% CI, 1.02~1.47), chewing ability (HR, 1.33; 95% CI, 1.11~1.59), and undernutrition (HR, 1.47; 95% CI, 1.23~1.75) significantly affected mortality risk. Systematic nutrition support programs should be developed to decrease the mortality among Korean older adults.

Post-diagnosis Soy Food Intake and Breast Cancer Survival: A Meta-analysis of Cohort Studies

  • Background and Objectives: Data on associations between soy food intake after cancer diagnosis with breast cancer survival are conflicting, so we conducted this meta-analysis for more accurate evaluation. Methods: Comprehensive searches were conducted to find cohort studies of the relationship between soy food intake after cancer diagnosis and breast cancer survival. Data were analyzed with comprehensive meta-analysis software. Results: Five cohort studies (11,206 patients) were included. Pooling all comparisons, soy food intake after diagnosis was associated with reduced mortality (HR 0.85, 95%CI 0.77 0.93) and recurrence (HR 0.79, 95%CI 0.72 0.87). Pooling the comparisons of highest vs. lowest dose, soy food intake after diagnosis was again associated with reduced mortality (HR 0.84, 95%CI 0.71 0.99) and recurrence (HR 0.74, 95%CI 0.64 0.85). Subgroup analysis of ER status showed that soy food intake was associated with reduced mortality in both ER negative (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.75, 95%CI 0.64 0.88) and ER positive patients (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.72, 95%CI 0.61 0.84), and both premenopausal (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.78, 95%CI 0.69 0.88) and postmenopausal patients (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.81, 95%CI 0.73 0.91). In additioin, soy food intake was associated with reduced recurrence in ER negative (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.64, 95%CI 0.44 0.94) and ER+/PR+ (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.65, 95%CI 0.49 0.86), and postmenopausal patients (highest vs. lowest: HR 0.67, 95%CI 0.56 0.80). Conclusion: Our meta-analysis showed that soy food intake might be associated with better survival, especially for ER negative, ER+/PR+, and postmenopausal patients.

Impact Factors and Validity of Blood Variables on Death in COVID-19 patient: Using Data of Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency

  • In this paper, we propose impact factors and validity of blood variables on death of COVID-19 patients. The clinical-epidemiological data of 5628 COVID-19 patients, provided from Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency as day of 30th April 2020, were used. As results, impact factors of death were dementia, older age, high lymphocyte, cancer, dyspnea, COPD, change of consciousness, heart disease, high platelets, abnormal diastolic pressure and fever. The validities of blood variables for death were high in the order of lymphocyte, hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelet and WBC. Therefore, risk factors such as initial clinical characteristics, underlying disease and blood test results, could be regarded for efficient management of COVID-19 patients.
