The Design of a Planar Patch Sensor for Partial Discharge Diagnosis in 6.6 kV Rotating Machine Stator Windings (6.6 kV 회전기 고정자 권선에서 부분방전 신호 검출을 위한 평면 패치 센서 설계)

  • In stator windings of 6.6 kV rotating machine, corona discharge, surface discharge and internal discharge are caused mainly by internal voids and insulation degradation. Also, if partial discharge occurs in inner-part of stator windings, it will be happened electromagnetic pulses at wide frequency range. In case of discharge spark, electromagnetic pulse generated from discharge source, and we can detect it by using various RF resonators as an EM sensor. In order to detect these kind of electromagnetic sources, we have designed and fabricated planar patch sensor using CST MWS simulation, and also PD signals from artificial defected cable were measured by our proposed sensor. Furthermore, HFCT was used as a reference sensor and compared with our proposed new planar patch sensor.

  • To detect partial discharge of 154kV joint box, we have made experiment by using the HFCT sensor. Generally the signals which are detected in partial discharge test of underground power transmission cable are accompanied with both noises of high voltage and noises of surrounding Power cable. The most noise in near to end part of joint box is corona, beside other noises flowed from surrounding area. Partial discharge test is difficulty due to these noises. First, we test reliability on both injection of calibration signal in NJB and removal of low frequency. After that, we had analyzed frequencies by measuring signals in IJB with 300[m] distance from NJB. Also we had measured S/N ratio by using the indirected injection method of calibration signal in IJB. In this experiment, two measurement methods were difference of detection acquisition, but these had the equal frequency properties.

  • This paper presents compact low frequency ultra-wide band(UWB) sensor design and studying of the partial discharge diagnosis by sensing electromagnetic pulse emitted from the partial discharge source with new designed UWB sensor. In this study, we designed new type of compact low frequency UWB sensor based on microstrip antenna technology to detect both low frequency and high frequency band of partial discharge signal. And experiments of offline PD testing on in medium voltage (22.9kV) underground cable and mention the comparative results with the traditional HFCT as a reference sensor in the laboratory. In the series of comparative test, the calibration signal injection test provided with conventional IEC 60270 method and high voltage injection testing are included.

  • There have three kinds of partial discharge diagnosis testing: online, offline and dismantled testing on high voltage rotating machine. Our lab testing is dismantled testing, taking off pieces into individual parts of stator coil of high voltage rotating machine in laboratory. We investigate internal discharge, slot discharge, corona discharge and normal state on pre-made stator winding by using spiral patch antenna sensor. In this lab test we compare the experimental results of our spiral patch antenna sensor and reference commercial HFCT sensor.

  • 고전압 대전력 기기인 고온초전도(HTS) 변압기는 기기내의 불순물과 작은 결함에서 발생되는 부분방전이 장시간 지속되어 심각한 고장으로 발전한다. 그러므로 기기의 고장을 미연에 발견하고 예방진단 할 수 있는 다양한 진단 기술이 확립 되어야 한다. 본 논문은 기존의 변압기내 절연유에서 발생될 수 있는 다양한 결함 중 기포, 돌기, 권선과 권선사이, 자율금속 이물질 이렇게 4가지 타입의 모의결함을 제작하여 실험 하였다. 기존의 전력설비 부분방전 진단 시 사용되는 IEC60270 규격으로 실험하여 측정한 데이터 바탕으로 Labview program을 이용하여 자체 개발한 PRPD 분석 프로그램과 오실로스코프를 연동하고 HFCT 센서를 이용하여 취득한 데이터를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 IEC60270 측정데이터와 Labview 프로그램을 이용하여 나온 결과 값이 유사하게 나왔다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • We studied partial discharge detection by sensing electromagnetic waves emitted from the partial discharge source in an HV Rotating Machine using a UWB sensor. In this study, we design a new type of compact low frequency UWB sensor based on micro-strip technology. We also perform many experiments of offline and dismantled testing compared with the existing HFCT on stator winding of the HV generator. We mention the detailed design of a new compact UWB sensor along with the time domain PRPD pattern and frequency domain results of partial discharge in the stator winding of a 6.6kV rotating machine by offline testing performed in a laboratory.
