The new developed train(HEMU-430X) faces running at high speed over 400km/h. But The Korea railway design code gives guidelines below 350km/h speed. Honam HighSpeed Railway was also designed based on the design standard below 350km/h. Existing infra structures have to be reviewed at high speed running and the design guideline for the speed over 350km/h should be prepared as soon as possible. This paper presents (1) the simulation results of composite steel girder bridge(Kaya Bridge of Seoul-Pusan HighSpeed Railway), (2) values measured at this bridge and the comparison with simulation results, and (3) the prediction of Yonjung bridge being constructed in Honam HighSpeed Railway.
The HEMU-430X is a world-class railway vehicle which aimed the maximum speed of 430km/h and the operation speed of 370km/h. To maintain high-speed operation condition over 300km/h, various requirements for satisfy exist. However, one of the most important things is a reliable supply of electricity. Especially, the dynamic interaction between the pantograph and overhead contact line at high-speed is a significant matter to pre-evaluate. In this paper, using the dynamic interaction analysis program, current collection performance of the HEMU-430X was investigated. Firstly, based on the international standard, performance of the original specifications was evaluated. In addition, through study on changes in tension and span length, improvement of the performance was considered.

In this paper a simulator for Integrated Onboard Signalling System(IOSS) will be presented and illustrated. IOSS which is integrated with there signalling systems such as ERTMS/ETCS Level 1 ATP(Automatic Train Protection), ATC(Automatic Train Control) and ATS(Automatic Train Stop) is a signalling system for HEMU-400X(Highspeed Electric Multiple Unit - 400km/h eXperiment). HEMU-400X is under development as the next generation high-speed train in Korea. Before conducting a trial run of HEMU-400X with IOSS, we must carry out functional test of IOSS. The simulator is suggested in this paper for testing and verification of IOSS. The simulator can help to test all function of IOSS although a real train and trackside equipments are not existed. Also the simulator can make a fault in trackside equipment intentionally. In that scenario, we can figure out how IOSS handle emergency situations.
The introduction of high speed railway(KTX) in Korea after the Korean high speed train through the KTX-II of the development is being run is made. Thus the demand for the railway technology advances and high performance, Korean government promoted the development of the next-generation high speed train system(HEMU-400X). In addition to the production of train system essential element of the train through an on-line test is to evaluate the performance. Through the on-line test of the train in order to evaluate the performance test items should be selected first and need to the test procedures are required. In addition, an Overall Measuring System(OMS) to measure the performance of the train system should be established. In this study for the on-line test of the HEMU-400X test items was selected for detailed measurements and performance evaluation of a comprehensive and efficient trains to test an OMS for the development are discussed.
In Korea, the HEMU-400X(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit-400km/h eXpress) has been developed since 2007 and will be operated over 400km/h in 2013. It is necessary to prepare test-bed section in Honam high-speed railroad to take the maxim running speed test for the HEMU-400X developed. In order to determine proper test-bed sections for the maximum speed of 400km/h, TPS(Train Performance Simulation) program with the data of train model, running resistance, traction power and braking capacity was used to analyze the train performances such as locations, speeds and power consumptions by times. In this study, the specifications of the HEMU-400X project and the route conditions of the Honam high-speed railroad under construction were utilized for the TPS program to determine the optimal test-bed sections for the maximum speed of 400km/h.
Recently, a railway vehicle of the maximum speed of 350km/h or more high speed has been developed in the developed country. The next-generation railway vehicle(HEMU-400X) is being developed for aim to run over 430km/h in Republic of Korea, too. The safety of the railway vehicle should be conformed before manufacturing the railway vehicle. In this study, the next generation high-speed railway vehicle was modeled as a single-car system using commercial dynamic program ADAMS/Rail. Safety analysis was implemented through the international standard of the UIC 518 OR code. Also, appropriateness of the railway vehicle design variable were conformed by safety analysis results.
This paper deals with the influence on the dynamic response of I-type girder railway bridge with high-speed electric multiple unit(HEMU) train load. This bridge system which has six I-girder and several cross beams, is modeled with plate and frame elements. And the upper slab is assumed to be fully connected with girders using rigid rinks. Span lengths, types of vehicle and running speeds are selected as parameters for analyses. For more exact analysis, it was adopted that 3-dimensional section of bridge models was produced by the assumed design wheel loads of HEMU vehicle at 200~350 km/hr speeds. Dynamic vertical deflections, dynamic amplification factors and vertical accelerations of bridges having 30 and 35 m span length were investigated and compared with the limit values specified in various national railway bridge specifications.
This paper is about the first experiment in Korea that was conducted on speeding increase up with rail speeds at 430km/h at high speed railway of designed 350km/h. and analysis data collected on vibration accelerations of roadbed. There are barely references on roadbed behavior measurement with rail speeds more than 350 km/h in Korea as it has never been conducted the experiment on it. So the experiments were confirmed the reliability through crosschecking the figures/values from respective sensors and measuring devices after measuring EMS and ICP types. Based on the study, values of vibration acceleration were less than 12% compared with the ones that conducted while speeding up of HEMU-430X. Also, figures of HSB for concrete bed tracks were 52% against the standard. According to the results, all the performance evaluation of vibration acceleration for roadbeds in transition zones is under the standard.
In the testing stage of HEMU-400X(next Korean high speed train) developing project, maximum speed(400km/h) tests will be conducted. On present and near future conditions of the overhead contact lines, 400km/h is over the design speed criteria. The predictions of current collection performance including the percentage loss of contact(arcs level) parameter through dynamic interaction simulation of HEMU-400X maximum speed test run are described in this paper. Various simulations are conducted at the condition of two different contact wire tensions to draw the proper contact wire increasing values in the 400km/h test line under the available contact wire tension supporting condition of that line.

The technologies of the main converter/inverter, which is indispensable for securing a safety and reliability of traction performance in rolling stock, have been compared and analyzed between HEMU-400X and High Speed Trains in Japan, France and Germany through this study. The result of this study indicates that home and abroad technologies aim at a small-sized and lightweight main converter/inverter as well as the prevention of noise in electric ventilator.
