The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in heart rate according to recovery methods after circuit weight training exercise. Fourteen men in their twenties were selected as subjects, and three sets of circuit weight training were performed by cycling six sports, and two recovery conditions (dynamic and static) were performed immediately after exercise. Changes in heart rate did not have an interactive effect according to recovery method and time, and both conditions showed significant changes between sets 1 and 2, and between sets 3 and after recovery. In this study, the high heart rate of 2 sets and 3 sets was seen as a result of exercise stimulation, and the low heart rate of 1 set was thought to be due to the decrease in vagus nerve activity rather than the role of catecholamines. On the other hand, the heart rate after 20 minutes of exercise did not show any difference according to the recovery method, which could mean that the recovery process due to the aquatic environment can act more strongly than the process of dynamic recovery and static recovery. It is thought that the characteristics affected the sensory and circulation of the body, and thus the change of the afferent signal and the level of metabolic products generated in the active muscle.
A method for presenting the heart rate of intact animals as a kymographic record is described. A transistorized impulse generator with a dry battery power supply is used to produce pulses. The pulses are integrated and make a pen motor drived. The ability of the instrument to follow a wide range of heart rate change is demonstrated. The instrument is especially usefull to observe an acute and transitory heart rate change. A method for changing the heart beat to sound and a method for counting the heart rate of intact animal and isolated preparations by employing post office counter were also described.
To study the effects of hormones and neurotransmitters, zebrafish (Danio rerio) are a great substitute for water fleas (Daphnia). The zebrafish is an ideal vertebrate model because it has a transparent embryonic stage. It is easy to get consistent heart rate measurements in embryonic zebrafish when treating them with hormones and neurotransmitters. To observe the heart rate, two to three embryonic zebrafish are anesthetized with MS-222 and then transferred to a glass slide specifically designed for heart observation and easy application of various chemicals. After the heartbeats are counted for 2 minutes, apply either 100 µM epinephrine or 100 µM acetylcholine to the zebrafish. Wait 5, 10, and 20 minutes and count the heartbeats at each time point. All procedures are repeated three times. The final results are averaged and analyzed by using statistical methods. The above method which we have developed is practical enough for high school students to measure the heart rate in zebrafish under various conditions and to analyze the data set.
스마트폰에서 입력받은 맥박을 분석하여 상황판단을 하고 비상알람, SNS(Social Network Service), SMS(Short Message Service)를 활용하여 상황전파를 한다.
Because it is known that bivalve hearts contain various modulatory systems activated by neuroendocrine substances, it was examined whether different classes of endogenous and synthetic drugs of neuroendocrinological importance can influence cardiac functions of the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas. Cholinergically active agents acetylcholine and carbachol increased heart rates while diminishing cardiac contractility. Adrenergically active substances norepinephrine (NE) and epinephrine (Epi) also induced heart rate increase and contractility decrease. An $\alpha_1$-adrenergic receptor-selective agonist phenyephrine (PE) failed to modulate either parameter. The Epi-induced heart rate increase and contractile depression were both blocked significantly by non-selective $\beta_1/\beta_2$-adrenergic antagonist propranolol. A $\beta_1$-selective antagonist atenolol prevented Epi-induced heart rate decrease but not the contractile depression, suggesting possible $\beta_2$ receptors for Epi-induced contractile depression. The three autacoids examined exerted discrete responses: histamine increased heart rate and depressed contraction; $\gamma$-amino-butyric acid increased both parameters; serotonin failed to change either parameter. The 5 piscine anesthetic agents examined, MS-222, benzocaine, quinaldine, urethane, pantocaine and pentobarbital, all failed to influence the cardiac function of oysters. Collectively, activities of neuroendocrinologically acting agents in mammals showed unexpected and distinct activities from those in mammalian cardiovascular systems. These results obtained from substances of different physiological functions can serve as a basis for understanding neuroendocrine control of the heart function in Pacific oyster.
Objectives: To examine the associations of borg's scale with actual heart rates of workers and energy consumption during their physical work. Methods: A total of 72 workers performing physical activities in postal service, ceramic manufacturing, and metal manufacturing participated in heart rate measurement for 1 work shift using the activity meter(A360) and responded to a borg's scale questionnaire. Results: In consistent with previous findings, we presented high correlation between borg's scale and energy consumption measures among workers performing physical activities(r=0.89) while post-work average heart rate showed nearly no correlation with post-work borg's scale (r=0.09). We proposed a set of adjustments when using borg's scale to estimate physical workload for those workers engaged in physical activities during the majority of their work shift. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that a caution should be paid to when using Borg's scale to estimate heart rates during physical activities as well as energy consumption as the product of heart rate measurements.
Exercise physiology of fish was studied by means of Electro-cardio-gram(ECG) technique with wired electrode system. Effects of swimming activity on the heart rate change for carp Cyprinus carpio was observed and analysed under swimming speeds among 1~3 Body Length/s and swimming durations of 10 and 60 minutes in the flume tank. The heart rate increase during swimming activity was observed in higher speed and longer duration conditions. The exercise effect on the heart rate continued even after fish stopped swimming. The time for recovery after exercise was tended to be elongated with the higher exercise condition.
Autonomic nervous system play an important role of keeping our health as balancing homeostasis. But the abnormality of these abilities makes our presence be feeble. To obtain these information of body which helps for us to decide whether one is healthy or not, based on the study of Heart Rate Variability. In this paper, we presented HRV model and its processing steps to extract some information of human body. After that, some experimental results are presented in time-domain and frequency-domain.
Daily monitoring of the heart rate can facilitate detection of heart-related diseases in their early stages. Therefore, providing an easy-to-use and noninvasive heart rate monitoring system has been a very popular research topic in the field of healthcare. One of good candidate methods is to use commonly available cameras and extract information that can help to estimate heart rate from a human face. Generally, such information can be retrieved using two different approaches: photoplethysmography (PPG) and ballistocardiography (BCG). PPG exploits slight color changes caused by blood volume variations during heartbeats; thus, it tends to be vulnerable to unstable lighting conditions. BCG exploits subtle head motions caused by pumped blood travelling through the carotid artery during heartbeats; thus, it is vulnerable to the voluntary head movements that are not related to heartbeats. Nevertheless, most related works use either to estimate the heart rate. In this paper, we propose to combine two approaches to be robust to challenging conditions. Specifically, we explore possible ways to combine raw signals obtained from two approaches and verify that the proposed combination shows better accuracies under challenging conditions, such as voluntary head movements and ambient lighting changes.
