  • Two cameras which function like human eyes, are needed to make 3D stereoscopic image. That is, stereoscopic image is made via 3 dimensional image processing for combining two images from left and right camera. In this paper two high resolution zoom cameras are used to make HD resolution stereoscopic camera. And the algorithm which convert to stereoscopic image from HD resolution zoom camera image, is implemented using FPGA for real-time operation. The algorithm which measure the depth of object between left and right image is proposed.

  • We analyzed the effect of cell resolution on the luminous efficacy through three-dimensional numerical simulation to understand the inherent discharge mechanism change in the plasma display panel. As the resolution increases from VGA to Full HD, the luminous efficacy decreases. With higher Xe content, VUV generation efficacy of Full HD becomes much lower than those of VGA or XGA cells, due to the increased plasma loss and lower electron heating. However a long electrode gap $140{\mu}m$ in Full HD cell with Ne-Xe [20%] results in the high luminous efficacy comparable to that of the XGA cell with $60{\mu}m$ gap. When comparing the effects of Xe content variation on the luminous efficacy of two different subpixel types, i. e., SDE (Segmented electrode in Delta color arrayed, Enclosed subpixel) [1] and conventional stripe barrier type in the XGA and Full HD cells, the luminous efficacy of SDE structure shows higher improvement in Full HD resolution compared with that of conventional type XGA cell, whose cause is identified as the reduced plasma loss.

  • I. Purpose The multileaf collimator(MLC) has many advantages, but use of the MLC increased effective penumbra and isodose undulation in dose distribution compared with that of an alloy block. In this work, we introduced the HD-270 MLC, which can improve the above disadvantages of MLC, and reported its feasibility study. II. Method and Materials The HD-270 MLC is a technique which combines the use of the existing Siemens multileaf collimator(3D MLC) with patient translation perpendicular to the leaf plane. The technique produces a smoothed isodose distribution with the reduced isodose undulation and effective penumbra. To assess the efficacy of the HD-270 technique and determine the appropriate resolution, a polygonal shaped MLC field was made to produce field edge angles from 0 degree to 75 degree with a step of 15 degree. Each HD-270 group was generated according to the allowed resolution, i. e., 5, 3, and 2mm. The experiment was carried out on Primus, a Siemens linear accelerator configured with HD-270 MLC. The total 60 MU of 6 MV photon beam was delivered to X-Omat film(Kodak, USA) at a SAD of 100 cm and 1.5 cm depth in solid water phantom. Exposed films were scanned by Lumiscan75(LUMISYS) and analyzed using RIT113 software(Radiological Imaging Technology Inc., USA). To test the mechanical accuracy of table movement, the transverse, longitudinal, and vertical positions were controlled by a consol with ${\pm}5\;mm,\;{\pm}4\;mm,\;{\pm}3\;mm,\;and\;{\pm}2\;mm$ steps, and then measured using a dial gauge with an accuracy of 0.001 inch. During the experiments, the table loaded with about 50Kg human phantom to simulate the real treatment situation. III. Results The effective penumbra and isodose undulation became larger with increase the resolution and field edge angle. The accuracy of the table movement on each direction is good within the ${\pm}1\;mm$. IV. Conclusion Clinical use of the MLC can be increased by using of the HD-270 MLC which complements to the disadvantages of the MLC.

  • Research on general particle image velocimetry (PIV) has been conducted extensively, but studies on granular PIV are relatively insufficient. In addition, the parameters used for analyzing granular PIV need to be optimized. In this study, we analyzed the error of velocity measurements based on the interrogation area (64-192 pixel), frame per second (30-120 FPS), and video resolution [ultrahigh definition (UHD) and high definition (HD)] within the velocity range typically measured in hoppers. The estimated errors of the granular PIV were below 5%, which is generally acceptable. However, considering the data reliability, the flow velocity in the hopper could be measured with less than 5% error at 120 FPS or higher in the HD resolution and 30 FPS or higher in the UHD resolution.

  • We investigate the long-period radial velocity (RV) variations for M giant HD 18438 and K giant HD 158996 using the high-resolution Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph at the 1.8m telescope of Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory in Korea. These two target stars are important because HD 18438 is the largest star and HD 158996 is the brightest star for exoplantary system candidate so we can understarnd how evolved stars affect planets by researching these stars. We calculated precise RV measurements of 38 and 24 spectra from November 2010 to January 2017 and June 2010 to January 2017, respectively. We dreived the RV variation period for 719.0 days of HD 18438, 775.6 days for HD 158996. We conclude that the RV variation of HD 158996 is caused by planetary companion which has the mass of 14.7 MJup, semi-major axis of 2.2 AU, and eccentricity of 0.27 assuming the stellar mass of $2.34M{\odot}$. On the other hand, the origin of RV variation of HD 18438 with period of 719.0 days is still uncertain. It might be caused by stellar chromospheric activity or planetary companion, so more observations and tests are required.

  • The research investigated the interaction effect of video resolution and device luminance on the perceived characteristics, presence, and fatigue viewing virtual reality. Experiments were composed of mixed design, and the resolution and luminance were classified into three types, HD, 2K, and 4K, and 20, 60, and 100, respectively. Participants watched video of 6-minutes randomly, and responded to the questionnaire after watching each video. The results showed that no interaction effect existed. Meanwhile, there are statistically significant differences on the luminance of depth perception, the resolution of visual intervention, and the resolution of adjustment fatigue. Also, higher resolution and luminance showed higher cognitive function, presence and fatigue.

  • We present measurements of interstellar CO absorption lines in the spectra of 7 early-type stars that were observed with the FUSE(Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explore.) Among 54 early-type target stars in the Galactic disk and halo observed with the BBFS(Berkeley Extreme and Far-ultraviolet Spectrometer), we choose 7 program stars (HD 37903, HD 97991, HD 149881, HD 156110, HD 164794, HD 214080 and HD 219188) which have only a single velocity component in the high-resolution optical measurements, in order to avoid line blending. To analyze the CO molecule, we select the E-X (0-0) band at $1076{\AA}$, which has a large oscillate. strength and is not blended with other interstellar absorption lines. We detect the CO absorption lines in three (HD 37903, HD 164794, and HD 214080) out of seven targets, and derive CO column densities for those targets. We also estimated the CO to $H_2$ ratios toward the three stars, based on the previously estimated $H_2$ column densities.

  • The purpose of the present study is to search for and study the origin of planetary companion by a precise radial velocity (RV) survey for K dwarfs. The high-resolution spectroscopy of the fiber-fed Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO) is used from September 2008 to June 2012. We report the detection of two new exoplanets in orbit around HD 208527, and HD 220074 with exhibiting a periodic variation of 875.5 and 672.1 days. The examinations of surface inhomogeneous are no related to the RV variations and Keplerian motion is the most likely explanation, which suggests that the RV variations arise from an orbital motion under the influence of planetary companion. We obtain the minimum masses for the exoplanets of 11.5 and 11.1 MJup with an orbital semi-major axis of 2.3 and 1.6 AU and an eccentricity of 0.08 and 0.14, respectively. From the literatures and our estimations of stellar parameters, the luminosity class of HD 208527 is changed K dwarf to K giant and the spectral type of HD 220074 is confirmed M giant rather than K dwarf. HD 220074 is the first M giant star harboring a planetary companion.
