The Study on the Performance Characteristics of $NH_3$ Refrigeration System using a Shell and Tube Type Heat Exchanger

  • Nowadays CFC and HCFC refrigerants are restricted because they causes to depletion of ozone layer. Accordingly, an experiment is apply to the $NH_3$ gas for refrigerant to study the performance characteristic and to improve the energy efficiency. An experiment are carried out for the condensed pressure in a range from 14.5bar to 16bar and for degree of superheat in a range from 0 to $10^{\circ}C$ at each condensed pressure. As the result of experiment, when degree of superheat is $1^{\circ}C$ and condensed pressure is 14.5bar, the refrigeration system showed the high performance.

  • 지구의 오존층을 보호하기 위한 몬트리올 의정서가 1987년 채택된 이후 오존층 파괴물질의 사용이 점차 감소되고 있다. 선진국의 경우 1995년 말부터 CFC냉매의 생산을 전폐하였고, HCFC냉매의 경우는 2020년 전폐를 목표로 대체냉매를 이용한 응용 기술개발 및 제품 생산이 진행되고 있다. 가정용 냉장고 및 차량용 에어컨에는 R-12의 대체냉매로 R-134a가 도입되었으며, 유럽을 중심으로 냉장고에는 HC계 냉매인 R-600a도 대체냉매로 사용되고 있다. 가정용 에어컨에는 혼합냉매인 R-407c 와 R-410a가 R-22 냉매를 대체하여 적용되고 있다. 그러나 현재, CFC및 HCFC 대체 냉매로 많이 사용되고 있는 HFC계 냉매도 지구 온난화 지수가 대단히 큰 문제를 가지고 있다. 1997년 채택된 교토의 정서에는 HFC계 냉매가 온실효과가 가스 배출규제물질에 포함되어 있다. 이에 따라서 오존층의 파괴지수가 영이고 지구온난화지수도 거의 없는 자연냉매가 주목을 받게 되었으며, 자연 냉매의 하나인 이산화탄소 ($CO_2$R744) 냉매의 응용기술 및 제품개발 연구가 선진국을 중심으로 폭넓게 진행되고 잇다. 본고에서는 $CO_2$냉매의 일반적인 특성을 간단히 소개하고 일본에서 진행되고 있는 $CO_2$냉매를 적용한 급탕시스템의 제품개발 및 시장현황에 대해서 기술하기로 한다.

  • Recently chemical intoxication related with the use of chemical extinguishing agents occurs frequently. With the industrialization, high-rising of building and increase of fire risk, we use the various extinguishing agents and the safe use become important. In this study I carried out the risk assessment of representative chemical extinguishing agents (HCFC-123, HFC-125) using the CHARM and got the meaningful qualitative outcome. This study is significant in that the risk assessment of chemicals was conducted using CHARM, chemical risk assessment tool. It is expected that the results will be utilized as the basic data for the national chemical safety management.

  • To protect the ozone layer depeletion the CFC (chlorofluorocarbon). HCFC(hydrochlorofluorocarbon) refrigerants will be replaced with HFCs (hydro-fluorocarbon) as an alternative refrigerant. In recent years a good deal of effort has been made to develop new compressors which are compatible to the new referigent. This paper focused on developing accelerated screening test for predicting tribological characteristics of the rotary compressor in atmosphere of R407C as an alternative refrigerant with polyolester lubricant. Falex wear test machine with high pressure chamber has been used to simulate friction and wear behavior of the common contact geometries found in rotary compressors.

  • CFCs는 가정 제품과 공업적 과정에서 발포제와 냉매제로 오랜 기간 사용되었다. 1974년, CFCs는 Molina와 Rowland에 의해 성층권 오존의 고갈 요인으로 인식되었고, 최근에는 지구 온난화의 기여물질로써 관련되어 지고 있다. CFCs의 세계적인 생산은 Montreal 의정서와 그 개정안에 의해 점차 폐지되었고, 대체 물질로 HCFCs와 HFCs가 과도하게 사용되고 있다. 수소의 존재는 대체 물질의 대류권 산화를 가능하게 했고, 대체로 성층권에 영향을 미치지 않는다. (중략)

  • 최근 세계적으로 환경보호에 대한 관심이 고조됨에 따라 기술개발 방향이 환경을 고려한 규정 및 장치에 제한을 받고 있다. 따라서 냉동 공조 기기에 사용되는 기존의 CFC계열 냉매가 오존층 파괴의 주 원임이 판명됨에 따라 환경 문제가 없는 HCFC계열인 R123와 HFC R134a로의 대체가 불가피하게 되었다.

  • Because the usage of CFC and HCFC based refrigerants are restricted due to the depletion of ozone layer, the $NH_3$ gas, in the experiment is evaluated to the performance characteristics for the superheat control to improve the energy efficiency. The experiment is carried out about the condensing pressure of refrigeration system from 1,500 kPa to 1,600 kPa through the degree of superheat from 0 to $10^{\circ}C$ at each condensing pressure. As a result, in the case of shell and tube type of heat exchanger, the COP is more efficient than other cases at the degree of superheat $1^{\circ}C$ at each condensing pressure. In the case of shell and disk type of heat exchanger, the COP is the most efficient at the degree of superheat 0.

  • The effect of blowing agents and inner temperature on the machanical properties of the flexible polyurethane foams were investigated. In the study used that chemical blowing agents is $H_2O$ and support blowing agents. CFC-11, HCFC-114b, dichloromethane, n-penthane, iso-pentane, cyclopentane. The flexible polyurethane foams were foamed by the density of $0.015{\pm}0.002g/cm^3$ and $0.024{\pm}0.002g/cm^3$ which were used in mechanical properties measurements. Inner temperature was measure as long as the preparation of the flexible polyurethane foams of each blowing agents. The density, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, compression strength and compression set were measured after 48 hours hardening. The result of the study was optimized dichloromethane and cyclopentane at the support blowing agents.

  • Pentachloroethane($CHCl_2CCl_3$) was synthesized and reacted with hydrogen fluoride using antimony pentahalide catalyst($SbCl_xF_y$) in order to manufacture HCFC-123$(CF_3CHCl_2)$, a potential CFC-11$(CFCl_3$) substitute candidate. Products analyses showed the fluorination proceeds through fluorine-chlorine exchanges between $HF/SbCl_xF_y$ and $SbCl_xF_y/CCl_3CHCl_2$ respectively. The degree of fluorination of $CCl_3$ group in pentachloroethane was greatly affected on the reaction temperature, but the effect of catalyst concentration was relatively small. Mechanistic study was also performed to elucidate the pathway to the formation of side-products such as $CCl_3CFCl_2$, $CFCl_2CFCl_2$ and $CF_2ClCFCl_2$.
