Wall Tie Member Force Curve for the Construction Tower Crane (건축용 타워크레인 마스트의 횡방향 지지요소인 월타이 부재력 특성곡선)

  • Tower crane's wall tie is generally used for extending of mast height according to rising of lifting height. In order to get wall tie member force this problem, this study concerning wall tie is based on load data described in manual book of 290HC model. This study made the equation of wall tie member force and computer programming for calculating wall tie member force and then get ${\theta}-P$ curves(angle-wall tie force). After considering the ${\theta}-P$ curves, optimum angle range ($48.4^{\circ}{\sim}77.2^{\circ}$) about wall ties (A), (C) members was obtained. Member force of wall tie (B) was changed from tension to compression or from compression to tension at $74^{\circ}$ in service and $54^{\circ}$ in out of service. When both horizontal force($H_A$) and torsional moment ($M_D$) were varied from (+) to (-), wall tie force(A, B, C) were changed almost symmetrically about ${\theta}$-axis. Because this study was based on wall tie analysis conditions, wall tie members in symmetric and ideal geometry shape used for analizing wall tie of tower crane, it is necessary to have more careful verification in order to apply generally the results of this study.

  • This study has investigated the chemical characteristics and the contamination of groundwater in relation to land use in Daejeon Metropolitan City. An attempt was made to distinguish anthrophogenic inputs from the influence of natural chemical weathering on the chemical composition of groundwater at Taejon. Groundwater samples collected at 170 locations in the Taejon area show very variable chemical composition of groundwater, e.9. electrical conductance ranges from 65 to 1,290 S/cm. Most groundwater is weakly acidic and the groundwater chemistry is more influenced by land use and urbanization than by aquifer rock type. Most of groundwater from green areas and new town residential districts has low electrical conductance, and is of Ca-HC $O_3$ type, whereas the chemical composition of groundwater from the old downtown and industrial district is shifted towards a Ca-Cl (N $O_3$+S $O_4$) type with high electrical conductance. A number of groundwater samples in the urbanized area are contaminated by high nitrate and chlorine, and exhibit high hardness. The Ep$CO_2$, that is the $CO_2$ content of a water sample relative to pure water, was computed to obtain more insight into the origin of $CO_2$ and bicarbonate in the groundwater. Factor analysis of the chemical data shows that the HC $O_3$ and N $O_3$ concentrations have the highest factor loadings on factor 1 and factor 2, respectively. Factors 1 and 2 represent major contributions from natural processes and human activities, respectively. The results of the factor analysis indicate that the levels of $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, N $a^{+}$, Cl and SO4$^2$ derive from both pollution sources and natural weathering reactions.ons.

A Study of Emission Volume of Air Pollutants in Suwon City (수원시 대기오염발생량 조사에 관한 연구 -자동차에 의한 발생 중심으로-)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the emissions of the air pollutants from the automobile in Suwon city. To estimate emissions due to by automobile the data of express highway and the national road used an observation traffic volume, and the other roads used a method by Vehicle kilometer traveled(VKT). In the emissions due to by automobile from Suwon city, CO was highest 36,290.4 ton/year, NOx at 19,392.1 tons, HC 5,095.4 tons and PM 2,788.7 tons was highly order. SOx emissions in the whole Suwon city by fuel types was investigated with 178ton/year from the Diesel motorcar, 26.9 ton/year and 6.2 ton/year from the gasolines and LPG automobiles, respectively. VOC emissions from the automobile was investigated with 366.4 ton/year (29.22%) from Gwonseon-gu, 329.2 ton/year (26.25%) Yeongtong-gu, 319.9 ton/year (25.51%) Jangan-gu, 238.6 ton/year (19.03%) Paldal-gu.

Evaporation Heat Transfer Characteristics of Propane and Iso-butane in Micro-fin Tubes (마이크로핀관에서 프로판과 이소부탄의 증발 열전달 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, evaporation heat transfer characteristics of propane and iso-butane in micro-fin tubes were investigated experimentally. Test section has a micro-fin tube with outside diameter of 12.70 mm, and 75 fins with a fin heights of 0.25 mm. The experimental results summarize as the followings: The average evaporation heat transfer coefficients of He's refrigerants is higher than those of HCFC22, and appeared in the order of iso-butane, propane with respect to the approaching of the high mass flux. The evaporation heat transfer coefficient of micro fin tube is about $10{\sim}80%$ higher than those of smooth tube. This results from the study can be used in the case of designing heat transfer exchanger using hydrocarbons as the refrigerant for the air-conditioning systems.

A Study on the Structural Safety of Tower Crane Telescoping Work according to Wind Speed and Load (타워크레인 텔레스코핑 작업의 풍속 및 하중에 대한 구조 안전성 연구)

  • This study analyses the load imbalance of the tower crane used in telescoping work for structural safety, owing to the difference in wind speed and balance weight position. This is because wind speed and position of the balance weight have a significant impact on the structural stresses of a tower crane during telescoping work. Therefore, structural analysis was performed on the 290HC model, which is often used at construction sites and has only one cylinder installed. Moreover, two models were classified to determine the load acting on the connecting part of the telescopic cage to slewing platform and the cylinder. Five types of balance weight positions were applied at regular intervals from jibs; moreover, four types of wind load criteria were differently applied. Hence, the telescopic cage columns were destroyed at all balance weight positions at a wind speed of 30 m/s and only at certain locations at a wind speed of 20 m/s. Furthermore, failures occurred for cylinders, torsional, and bending at wind speeds of 30 m/s and 20 m/s, load imbalances above the allowable thresholds considering the safety factor. In addition, the load imbalance in the telescoping work also varied depending on the position of the balance weights. The results of these studies have validated that the current standards of adjusting the appropriate position of the balance weights on the jib are completely valid, with the telescoping work to be executed only at wind speeds of less than equal to 10 m/s.

Moderating Effect of Health Motivation, Health Concern and Food Involvement on the Relationship between Consumption Value and Purchasing Intentions of Healthy Functional Food (건강기능식품 소비가치와 구매의도의 관계에 대한 건강동기, 건강염려, 식품몰입의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of consumption value on healthy functional food choice. Also, this study explored the role of health motivation, health concern, and food involvement as a moderating variable in the relationship between consumption value and healthy functional food choice. A total of 281 responses were collected using on-site survey (response rate 96.0%) from college students in Daegu, Gyeoungbuk Province. The questionnaire contained questions on consumption value, health motivation, health concern, food involvement, and purchasing intention of healthy functional food. The respondents rated the items using a 5-point scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). According to the confirmatory factor analysis, item evaluating using factor loading resulted in the retention of 25 consumption value items loading on seven factors, four health motivation items loading one factor, six health concern items loading on one factor, and four food involvement items loading on one factor with an internal consistency. Results of stepwise regression found that social value-I, emotional, functional, epistemic, and conditional values among consumption value determined the purchasing intention of healthy functional food. Results of hierarchical regression showed that health concern had a positive effect on the relationship between social value-I and purchasing intention of healthy functional food.
