Objective : Moutan Cortex (the root bark of Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.) is widely used in oriental medicine as a remedy for inflammation. However, as yet there is no clear explanation of how MC(Moutan Cortex) affects the production of inflammatory cytokine. This study was to determine the effects of Essence extracted MC on the mast cell-mediated inflammatory responses. Method : We observed the effect of MC on compound 48/80-induced histamine release of rat peritoneal mast cells and the effect of administering MC on PCA in rat. We measured the amount of inflammatory cytokine production induced by the phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) plus calcium ionophore(A23187) in the human mast cell line (HMC-1) incubated with various concentrations of MC. The TNF-$\alpha$ protein levels were analysised by Western blot. The TNF-$\alpha$, IL-6 and IL-8 secreted protein levels were measured by the ELISA assay. The TNF-$\alpha$, IL-6 and IL-8 mRNA levels were measured by the RT-PCR analysis. NF-$\kappa$B, phospho-I$\kappa$B and MAPKs were exmined by Western blot analysis. The NF-$\kappa$B promoter activity was examined by luciferase assay. Result : 1. Enzyme immunoassay indicated that MC suppressed histamine secretion of rat peritoneal mast cells. 2. In PCA dependent on IgE, MC had anti-allergic effect of the internal surface of rat skin. 3. Western blot indicated that MC decreased TNF-$\alpha$ protein levels. 4. ELISA indicated that MC decreased TNF-$\alpha$, IL-6 but MC had no significant effect on IL-8 in HMC-1 cells. 5. RT-PCR indicated that MC decreased TNF-$\alpha$, IL-8 but MC had no significant effect on IL-6 in HMC-l cells. 6. Western blot indicated that MC suppressed the induction of MAPKs, NF-$\kappa$B & phospho-I$\kappa$B activity in HMC-1 cells. 7. Luciferase assay indicated that MC suppressed the PMA plus A23187-induced NF-$\kappa$B promoting activityin HMC-1 cells. Conclusion : In this study, we have found that MC is an inhibitor of NF-$\kappa$B, MAPKs & cytokines on the mast cell-mediated inflammatory responses.

This study analyzed the effect of five sub-variables' attribute of HMR: features of information, diversity, promptness, price and convenience, on the consumer purchasing intention. In addition, the regulation effect of positive reviews and negative reviews of consumers' online reviews between HMR selection attribute and purchasing intention was also tested. Results are following. First, convenience feature (B=.577, p<.001) and diversity feature (B=.093, p<.01) among the effect of HMR selection attribute had a positive (+) effect on purchasing intention. On the other hand, promptness feature (B=.235, p<.001) and price feature (B=.161, p<.001), and information feature (B=.288, p<.001) were not significant effect on purchasing intention. Second, result of regulation effect of the positive reviews of consumer's online review between the selection attribute of the HMR product and consumers' purchasing intention, in the first-stage model in which the selection attribute of the HMR product is input as an independent variable, there was a significant positive (+) effect on all the features of convenience, diversity, promptness, price, and information. In addition, there was significant positive (+) main effect (B=.472, p<.001) in the second step model in which the consumers' positive reviews, that is a regulation variable. Furthermore, the feature of price (B=.068, p<.05) had a significant positive (+) effect in the third stage in which the selection attribute of the HMR product that is an independent variable and the interaction of the positive review. However, the feature of information (B=-.063, p<.05) showed negative (-) effect, and there was no effect on the features of convenience, diversity, and promptness. Third, as a result of testing the regulation effect of the negative reviews of consumers' online reviews between HMR product selection attribute and consumers' purchasing intention, in the first-stage model in which the selection attribute of the HMR product was a positive (+) effect on all the features of convenience, diversity, promptness, price, and information. In the second-stage model in which consumers' negative reviews (B=-.113, p<.001) had negative (-) effect. In the third-stage in which the selection attribute of the HMR product and the interactions of the negative reviews was a positive (+) effect with the feature of price (B=.113, p<.01). Last, there was no effect at all on the features of convenience, promptness, and information.

Up to now, there have been rare clinical studies on leaders and aerobics athletes. To get the useful data for protecting from auditory disorder, we selected 15 female aerobics leaders (experimental group) and 15 females (control group) unexperienced in aerobics and a without neurological and octolaryngological disorder. The average age was $34.87{\pm}8.80$ (experimental group) and $34.07{\pm}8.45$ (control group) years, and the average career of an aerobics leader (experimental group) was $8.33{\pm}4.73$ years. We measured the auditory evoked potential (AEP) of the two groups treated with 70, 75 and 85 dB intensity from January 2006 to May 2006 and analyzed the absolute latency (AL) and interpeak latency (IPL) by the SPSS/pc+ 12.0 program. In the comparison of the AL between the experimental group and the control group according to intensity, both ears treated with 70 and 75 dB had a significant difference (p<0.05) in the I, III, V wave and in the I, V wave respectively, and the experimental group treated with 85 dB showed a difference in the I, III, V wave (left ear) and in the I wave (right ear) respectively. The IPL of the two groups treated with various intensities had no prolongation. In the comparison of the AL between the experimental group and the control group according to ages, the experimental group in their 20s treated with 70 dB showed a significant difference (p<0.05) in the V wave (left ear) and in the I, III, V wave (right ear), and the experimental group in their 20s treated with 75 dB in the I, III wave (left ear) and in I, III, V wave (right ear), and experimental group in their 20s treated with 85 dB in the V wave (left ear) and in the III, V wave (right ear). The experimental group in their 30s treated with 70 dB had a significant difference (p<0.05) only in the V wave (right ear). Only in the IPL of subjects in their 20s treated with 85 dB, III-V and I-V of both ears was extended. In the comparison of the AL and IPL according to career, there was no significant difference between the two groups. From this results, we concluded that the lower sound intensity (70 dB) showed a more significant difference in the experimental group than the control group. We concluded that the leader of aerobics exposed to louder sounds than normal people are affected by auditory neurological and octolaryngological disorders. So we think that the leaders of aerobics need to control the noise level for protecting themselves against a disease.

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter region of the IL-1B (interleukin-1) gene have been implicated in a variety of diseases that have an inflammatory component. However, there has been significant heterogeneity among study results, especially between Caucasian and Asian populations. Recently, it has been reported that SNPs in the IL-1B gene affect transcription, according to haplotype context, and genetic association studies may be more informative if functional SNP haplotypes of population are analyzed. Therefore, we estimated the distribution of IL-1B promoter haplotypes in 433 Koreans using the three major functional IL-1B promoter SNPs (IL-1B -1464, -511, and -31) and compared the results with those in Caucasians. The difference in IL-1B promoter haplotype frequency between Korean and Caucasian populations was statistically significant. The potentially more inflammatory haplotypes had higher frequencies in Koreans when compared with Caucasians. These Korean haplotype data will be useful for future association studies between IL-1B SNPs and disease risk.

Shells and operculums of eight species of Bithyniidae, Bithynia leachi, B. tentaculata, B. siamensis, B. misella, B. kiusiuensis, Gabbia australis, B. manchourica and a Bithynia sp. collected from Nepal, were observed, There is no morphological difference between korean populations of B. misella and a Japanese popualtion of B. kiusiuensis. And the shells of these species were simialr to the other Bithynia species rather than Australian Gabbia. The coordinate of the starting point of nuclear spire of operculum(SPN)was species specific and this value had very limited range within a species. The result suggested that Korean and Japanese populations of B. misella and B. kiusiuensis are synonym and the coordinate of SPN will be a useful character in sytematics of operculated snails.

Eletrophysiological methods revealed subclinical neuropathy in 26 workers, exposed from 1 to 17 years to lead and whose blood lead (PbB) values had never exceeded $70{\mu}g/100\;ml$, as ascertained by checking the monitor reports of the factory and by careful exposure history. The PbB determinations had been tested repostedly and had been found valid. The main findings were slowing of the maximal motor conduction velocities of the median and ulnar nerves and particularly the conduction velocity of the slower fibers of the ulnar nerve. Eletrophysiological abnormalities comprised fibriliations, diminution of the number of motor units on maximal contraction, and an abnormal. Thus, a dose-response relationship exlets on a group basis. Since the regular monitoring of PbBs in most workers during their entire period of exposure excludes the possibility of a body burden out of proportion to the PbBs silght neuro-logical damage is produced at exposures hitherto regarded as quite sale.

In this paper, we had designed and fabricated the integrated circuit of AM tuner system for car. The very important characteristics of this system need very good sensitivity, selectivity and very strong automatic gain control function. In this system we had designed, maximum sensitivity is about 21dBu, selectivity above 40dB, AGC range above 80dB, etc. We had fabricated this IC using SST standard linear process.

Objective : This study was designed to evaluate the effect of Miso Facial Acupuncture on Orbicularis Oculi muscle. Methods : Two men and four women with Facial nerve palsy were recruited. Miso Facial Acupuncture on Orbicularis Oculi muscle was performed two times a week for three weeks. The effects of the treatment were evaluated by H-B scale, Y-system and clinical symptom. Results : Before treatment with Miso Facial Acupuncture, three patients showed H-B scale improvement and the other three patients had no change. and four patients showed Y-system improvement and the other two patients had no change. In six cases, the patients had improvement in clinical symptom related with Orbicularis Oculi muscle function. Conclusion : Miso Facial Acupuncture on Orbicularis Oculi muscle showed significant improvement in facial nerve palsy.

Comparisons in physicochemical characteristics of longissimus muscle between the Korean native pig(KNP: 75kg of slaughter weight and 240 days of age) versus Landrace(110kg of slaughter weight and 180 days of age) are as below. Compared with Landrace, KNP had a greater drip loss resulting from a lower muscle pH and water holding capacity, greater L*(lightness), a*(redness) and b*(yellowness) values in muscle color, and a greater L* value and smaller a* and b* values in attached backfat color. Tenderness were greater in the Korean native pig. Moreover, KNP had a greater number of muscle fibers and a smaller diameter of the fiber when examined by scanning electron microscopy. In sum, the Korean native pig, compared with Landrace, had a greater redness in meat color, a greater whiteness in fat color; the lower WHC and greater tenderness of the former apparently resulted from the lower slaughter weight rather than from a species difference.

The purpose of this study was to find out the clothing values and meanings by material values. The researcher used the scales of Richins & Dawson (1992) for Materialism Scale. The scales of Prentice (1987) and Ricllins (1994a, 1994b) for privateand public meanings of clothing. The scales of Prentice (1987) and Richins (1994a, 1994b) for importance clothes of private and public meanings.. The scales of Creekmore (1968) for clothing values. The subjects of this study were 154 girl students in the university. The research materials was analyzed by Frequency, MANOVA and Scheffe test The results of this study were as follows; 1) Higher group of material values had an orientation that emphasizes enjoyment values of clothing in private moaning and seems expensive of clothing in public meaning. 2) All group set a high value on both suits and jeans in clothing of private meanie that meant both interpersonal and enjoyment values and put much worth on both suits and mustang that concerned both costly and brand. 3) Higher group had significantly difference in aesthetic value and political value, and lower had significantly differene ineconomic value and theoretical value.
