Synthesis and Structures of $(NH_4)_{10}[Ni(H_2O)_5]_4[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$ and $(NH_4)_{3.5}(C_3H_{12}N_2)_{3.5}[Ni(H_2O)_6]_{1.25}{[Ni(H_2O)_5]_2[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$

  • Two new nickel vanadium borophosphate cluster compounds, $(NH_4)_{10}[Ni(H_2O)_5]_4[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$ (1) and $(NH_4)_{3.5}(C_3H_{12}N_2)_{3.5}[Ni(H_2O)_6]_{1.25}{[Ni(H_2O)_5]_2[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$ (2) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Inter-diffusion methods were employed to prepare the compounds. The cluster anion $[(NH_4)\;{\supset}\;V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6$ is used as a building unit in the synthesis of new compounds containing $Ni(H_2O){^{2+}_5}$ in the presence of pyrazine and 1,3-diaminopropane. Compounds contain isolated cluster anions with general composition ${[Ni(H_2O)_5]_n[(NH_4)\;{\supset}\;V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6}^{-(17-2n)}$ (n = 2, 4). Crystal data: $(NH_4)_{10}[Ni(H_2O)_5]_4[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$, monoclinic, space group C2/m (no. 12), a = 27.538(2) ${\AA}$, b = 20.366(2) ${\AA}$, c = 11.9614(9) ${\AA}$, ${\beta}$ = 112.131(1)$^{\circ}$, Z = 8; $(NH_4)_{3.5}(C_3H_{12}N_2)_b[Ni(H_2O)_6]_{3.5}{[Ni(H_2O)_5]_2[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$, triclinic, space group P-1 (no. 2), a = 17.7668(9) ${\AA}$, b = 17.881(1) ${\AA}$, c = 20.668(1) ${\AA}$, ${\alpha}$ = 86.729(1)$^{\circ}$, ${\beta}$ \ 65.77(1)$^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}$ = 80.388(1)$^{\circ}$, Z = 2.

  • The systems of aromatic amines such as aniline, N,N-dimethylaniline and N,N-diethylaniline with iodine or iodine monochloride in carbon tetrachloride have been examined spectrophotometrically. The results indicate the formation of one to one molecular complexes. The equilibrium constants obtained at room temperature for formation of the complexes are as follows: $C_6H_5NH_2{\cdot}I_2\;2.05$, $C_6H_5N(CH_3)_2{\cdot}I_2\;15.2$, $C_6H_5N(C_2H_5)_2{\cdot}I_2\;35.5$, $C_6H_5NH_2{\cdot}ICl\;18.5$, $C_6H_5N(CH_3)_2{\cdot}ICl\;25.6$, and $C_6H_5N(C_2H_5)_2\;42.0$ l $mole^{-1}$.

  • Polyphosphazene-bound Wittig reagents such as $[NP(OC_6H_5)_{1.7}(OC_6H_4P(Ph)_2$=$CHCH_2CH_2CH_3)_{0.3}]_n$ were synthesized by treating $[NP(OC_6H_5)_{1.7}(OC_6H_4Br)_{0.3}]_n$ with n-butyllithium, diphenylchlorophosphine, and n-butyl iodide. Polymeric reactions were carried out according to the reaction conditions with cyclic primers such as [$N_3P_3(OC_6H_5)_5(OC_6H_4P(Ph)_2$)]. The desired alkene and polymer-bound phosphine oxide were prepared successfully by the reaction of polyphosphazene-bound Wittig reagents with benzophenone.

Hydrocarbon Gas Permeation Characteristics of PTMSP/LDH Composite Membranes (PTMSP/LDH 복합막의 탄화수소 기체투과 특성)

  • PTMSP/LDH composite membranes were prepared by adding 0, 1, 3, and 5 wt% LDH contents to PTMSP. The gas permeability and selectivity for $H_2$, $N_2$, $CH_4$, $C_3H_8$, $n-C_4H_{10}$ were investigated as a function of LDH content. As LDH content of PTMSP/LDH composite membranes increased to 5 wt%, the gas permeability for $H_2$ and $N_2$ gradually decreased, while $n-C_4H_{10}$ permeability rapidly increased. The gas permeability for $CH_4$ and $C_3H_8$ was found to decrease for the membranes with LDH content range of 0~3 wt%, however increase in the range of 3~5 wt%. As LDH content of PTMSP/LDH composite membranes increased to 5 wt%, the selectivity of membranes gradually increased for $H_2$, $N_2$, $CH_4$, $C_3H_8$, $n-C_4H_{10}$ over $H_2$, $N_2$. However the selectivity for $C_3H_8$ and $n-C_4H_{10}$ over $CH_4$ increased in the range of LDH content 0~3 wt% but decreased in the range of 3~5 wt%. The $CH_4$ and $n-C_4H_{10}$ selectivity over $H_2$ and $N_2$ increased as $CH_4$ and $n-C_4H_{10}$ permeability increased. The $n-C_4H_{10}$ selectivity over $CH_4$ increased with increasing $n-C_4H_{10}$ permeability up to 182,000 barrer and decreased above 182,000 barrer of $n-C_4H_{10}$ permeability. The $C_3H_8$ selectivity over $H_2$ and $N_2$ was found to decrease as the $C_3H_8$ permeability increased from 46,000 to 50,000 barrer, but to increase with increasing permeability from 50,000 to 52,300 barrer and decrease again with increasing permeability from 52,300 to 60,000 barrer. The $C_3H_8$ selectivity over $CH_4$ was found to decrease with increasing $C_3H_8$ permeability up to 52,300 barrer but increase above 52,300 barrer.

  • A series of new chiral [iminophosphoranyl]ferrocenes, {${\eta}^5-C_5H_4-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2-C_6H_3)$}Fe{${\eta}^5-C_5H_3-1-PPh^2-2-CH(Me)NMe_2$} (1: R = Me, $^iPr$), {${\eta}^5{-C_5H_4-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2}^1-C_6H_3)$}Fe{${\eta}^5-C_5H_3-1-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2-C_6H_3)-2-CH(Me)R_2$} (2: $R^1\;=\;Me,\;^iPr;\;R^2\;=\;NMe_2$, OMe), and $({\eta}^5-C_5H_5)Fe${${\eta}^5-C_5H_4-1-PR_2-2-CH(Me)N=PPh_3$} (3:R = Ph, $C_6H_{11}$) have been prepared from the reaction of [1,1'-diphenylphosphino-2-(N,N-dimethylamino) ethyl]ferrocene with arylazides (1 & 2) and the reaction of phosphine dichlorides ($R_3PCl_{2}$) with [1,1'-diphenylphosphino-2-aminoethyl]ferrocene (3), respectively. They form palladium complexes of the type $[Pd(C_3H_5)(L)]BF_4$ (4-6: L = 1-3), where the ligand (L) adopts an ${\eta}^2-N,N\;(2)\;or\;{\eta}^2$-P,N (3) as expected. In the case of 1, a potential terdentate, an ${\eta}^2$-P,N mode is realized with the exclusion of the –=NAr group from the coordination sphere. Complexes 4-6 were employed as catalysts for allylic alkylation of 1,3-diphenylallyl acetate leading to an almost stoichiometric product yield with modest enantiomeric excess (up to 74% ee). Rh(I)-complexes incorporating 1-3 were also prepared in situ for allylic alkylation of cinnamyl acetate as a probe for both regio- and enantioselectivities of the reaction. The reaction exhibited high regiocontrol in favor of a linear achiral isomer regardless of the ligand employed.

  • Two new copper vanadium borophosphate compounds, $(NH_4)(C_2H_{10}N_2)_{5.5}[Cu(C_2H_8N_2)_2]_3[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}17H_2O,\;Cu-VBPO1\;and\;(NH_4)(C_2H_{10}N_2)_{3.5}[Cu(C_2H_8N_2)_2]_5[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}18H_2O$, Cu-VBPO2 have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The structure of Cu-VBPO1 contains a layer anion, {$[Cu(C_2H_8N_2)_2]_3[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6$}$^{12-}$, whereas Cu-VBPO2 has an open framework anion, {$[Cu(C_2H_8N_2)_2]_5[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6$}$^{8-}$. Crystal Data: $(NH_4)(C_2H_{10}N_2)_{5.5}[Cu(C_2H_8N_2)_2]_3[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}17H_2O$, monoclinic, space group I2/m (no. 12), $\alpha$ = 15.809(1) $\AA$, b = 31.107(2) $\AA$, c = 12.9343(8) $\AA$, $\beta$ = 104.325(1)$^{\circ}$, Z = 2; $(NH_4)(C_2H_{10}N_2)_{3.5}[Cu(C_2H_8N_2)_2]_5[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}18H_2O$, tetragonal, space group $P4_2$/mnm (no.136), $\alpha$ = 26.832(1) $\AA$, c = 18.021(1) $\AA$, Z = 4.

  • 3-Acetyl/Formyl 4-hydroxy-2H(1)-benzopyran-2-one on treatment with malonitrile and ethyl cyanoacetate yielded 1,1-dicyano-2-[4/-hydroxy-2/H(1)-benzopyran-2/-one-3/-yl] ethene/propene 2a-h and ethyl-2-cyano-3-[4/-hydroxy-2/H (1)-benzopyran-2/-one-3/-yl] propenoate/butenoate 3a-h respectively. The 1,3 dipolar reaction of 2a-h with NaN3 gave the tetrazole derivative 4a-h. 3a-h on cyclization with PPA gave 3-cyano-2H,5H-pyrano [3, 2-c] benzopyran-2,5-diones 5a-h which on 1,3 dipolar reaction with NaN3 to gave 3-(1/H-tetrazol-5/-yl)-2H,5H-pyrano[3, 2-c] benzopyran-2,5-diones 6a-h. The structures of the compounds have been established on the basis of the spectral and analytical data. All the compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities and have been found to exhibited significant antibacterial activities. Compounds 2h and 4h showed the activity 50g/mL.

  • The antitumor properities of metal are not limited to Pt(II) complexes. Recently, it was reported that some Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes with sulfur and nitrogen ligands had potential antitumor reactivity. Pt(II) complexes is toxic drug for anticancer. Therefore, the complexes of Pd(II) with adenine, uracil, cytosine and malonate ligands are interesting for anticancer drug. We synthesized new palladium complexes containing nucleosides. The reactions of Pd(II) with adenine, uracil, cytosine and malonate ligands have been studied in aqueous solutions. The complexes isolated from these reactions have the following formulas; $[Pd(en)(C_5H_5N_5)_2](NO_3)_2,\;[Pd(en)(C_4H_3N_2O_2)Cl],\;[Pd(en)(C_3H_2O_4)]\;and\;[Pd(en)(C_4H_5N_3O)_2](NO_3)_2{\cdot}(C_4H_5N_3O)$. The compounds have been identified by elemental analysis, mass spectra, infrared spectra and electronic spectra.

  • The molecular structures of 2-SC₄H₃CH=NN(H)C/sub 6/H/sub 5/(C/sub 11/H/sub 10/N₂S) and (GaMe₂)₂(2-SC₄H₃CH=NNC/sub 6/H/sub 5/)₂(C/sub 26/H/sub 30/Ga₂N₄S₂) have been determined by X-ray diffraction. The Developmental Characterization of the Sericin jam(Bombyx mori), a Mutant in the Synthesis and Secretion of Fibroin (세리신잠(Nd-s. $Nd^H$의 발육 특성)

  • This experiment was done to know developmental characteristics of Sericin jam. Incubation periods were 10 day 2 hr, and 10 day 1 hr. 11 day 1 hr for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam, respectively. Hatching rates were 83.9, 83.3 and 96.0% for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam. Larval periods were, 20 days 1 hr for Nd-s jam, 20 days 5 hrs for N $d^{H}$ jam, and 22 days 12 hrs for Baegok jam. Death rate of larvae was highest in N $d^{H}$ iam, followed by Nd-s jam and Baegok jam. Pupation rate was highest in Baegok Jam followed by Nd-s jam and that of N $d^{H}$ jam was the lowest among the three. Cocoon weight was 1.39, 1.08, and 2.01 g for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam, respectively. Shell weight were 13, 3, and 48 cg for Nd-s jam, N $d^{H}$ jam, and Baegok jam. Cocoon shell ratios were 9.0% for Nd-s jam, 2.8% for N $d^{H}$ jam and 23.9% for Baegok jam. Cocoon sizes were 30.6${\times}$15.8 mm for Nd-s jam, 24.7${\times}$14.9 mm for N $d^{H}$ jam and 35.8 ${\times}$ 20.5 mm(1${\times}$w) for Baegok jam.w) for Baegok jam.
